Does Microsoft have an employee directory?
Hi everyone, Quick question for the group. My company uses Microsoft Teams every day, and people are constantly trying to find the right person internally, who owns what, who reports to who, who sits in which team/department, etc. Teams search and profile cards help a bit, but we’re really looking for a proper employee directory, specifically: A clean employee directory experience (not scattered across different places). Rich employee profiles (photo, title, department, manager, contact info, location, etc.). Strong employee search (by name, department, role, location, ideally more) Is there a native employee directory in Microsoft 365 that does this well out of the box. If not, what are people using instead, SharePoint, Viva, custom build, or a third-party directory that pulls from Entra ID / M365? Would love to hear what’s working in real life.SolvedDSB29Feb 11, 2026Copper Contributor97Views1like1CommentLocked Out of Global Admin – Lost Authenticator – Case 2602060010000939 – Need Escalation
I am locked out of my Global Administrator account because my phone broke on February 5, 2026 and I no longer have access to Microsoft Authenticator. There is no alternative authentication method configured. Case ID: 2602060010000939. I contacted support on February 6 and the ticket was set as Severity C with an 8-hour response expectation. After several days, I have only received generic replies and no contact from an engineer. This account is critical for my business operations, and I have now been without access for five days. I understand it was my responsibility to maintain backup methods, but I urgently need help from Microsoft to recover access. Please contact me. This seems to be some sort of bug in the OneNote Search feature (or maybe me). [By the way, I LOVE the Search feature - OneNote is rather useless (for me) without it.] My research into the problem leads me to believe it has something to do with Indexing. Anyway, anything I enter into OneNote now (except for the Title) cannot be found by the OneNote Search feature. My recent problem is in searching for a name (Scott). Search can find old entries with the name Scott and can even find a Scottsdale entry - and Search can find Scott in the Title of a recent entry but cannot find any of the other recent Note entries with Scott in the body (3 of them as a test). I also note that if I manually go to the page with a recent Scott entry, the word Scott is highlighted - but the Notes' containing Scott in it does not appear in the list of notes containing Scott. My OneNote file is huge, probably hundreds of notes (if not thousands) and the Search feature has always worked flawlessly, until now. Can OneNote get too big for Search to work? I really need this feature to work - anyone know what is going on here. ron in shawneeSolvedroninkansasFeb 08, 2026Brass Contributor247Views0likes4CommentsExchange online retention policy
Hello, We are using Microsoft Purview to setup an Exchange retention policy through Data LIfecycle Management. We are wanting to do a gradual rollout, we don't want do apply it to everyone all at once. It looks like in the policy settings you can apply it to individual mailboxes. I'm wondering if we can instead setup a mail-enabled security group and add users to that for the policy to apply to them. Is that possible? Thanks in advance.Solvedpb_jbergener1165Jan 28, 2026Copper Contributor61Views0likes1CommentHow to change primary user
I'm helping someone whose husband died. They have a "Microsoft 365 Family" plan. He was the primary person and she was a secondary user. I suspect for consistency of her information she should not make a new account in her name and abandon this previous account. Rather if possible she should keep the current account but make herself the primary account holder and make his email a secondary. She would keep his address active just for a while until everything to do with him is wound down. But how does she change the account so she becomes the primary? Thanks.SolvedTCanDec 19, 2025Copper Contributor208Views0likes1CommentLitigationHold Delayholdapplied and Managed Folder Assistant
Hello All, I have a set of mailboxes with LitigationHoldEnabled = True, and I need to remove Litigation Hold from them. My understanding is that after I remove Litigation Hold from an Exchange Online mailbox, the next time the Managed Folder Assistant (MFA) processes the mailbox, it will detect the hold removal and then set DelayHoldApplied = True. This begins the 30-day delay hold period. My question is: Will any retention policies delete data in the time window between removing Litigation Hold and the moment MFA processes the mailbox and sets DelayHoldApplied = True My understanding is "Even though DelayHoldApplied is not yet visible (or True) before MFA processes it, Exchange Online automatically protects the mailbox from deletions immediately after hold removal, before MFA applies Delay Hold" I want to ensure that no data is deleted during this transitional period. Kindly advice with supporting article if possible. Regards AfsarSolvedAfsar_ShariffDec 18, 2025Brass Contributor95Views0likes1CommentOffice 365 and joining a family
I want to share my Office 365 Family subscription with my daughter. She has her own Microsoft Family because she uses family safety with Xbox for her children. How can I invite her to share my Microsoft Office and not join my family. Apparently Microsoft only allows a person to belong to one family. I am trying to share something I am working on with beta readers and some friends but the only options are "can edit" or "can view". There is no option for "can comment" or to let them viewers use the review function. I asked for help with the issue and got told that because my account is personal OneDrive and not business that there is no review only feature. Was that a mistake or is Microsoft really this behind on basic features? Google Drive has allowed giving people access with "comment only" for years.SolvedHarley001Nov 24, 2025Copper Contributor402Views1like2CommentsMultitenant collaboration with existing guest users
Hi, we plan to set up Multitenant collaboration with a few tenants. Will that Guest User be merged with the new member status? 2.) Are newly added users from other MTOs treated with the Conditional Access policies from the MTO they are accessing? We have a conditional access polic yin place which forces B2b usre sto re-authenticate every 9 hours. I have the Home version of Office built into my Windows laptop and am already using it with a personal account. I plan to subscribe to Business Basic. Can my Business Basic account be used with the Home version of Office? Perhaps I could sign out of my personal account and then sign in with my Business Basic work account. Are there any implications if I do that? Or do you have any suggestions? Thank youSolvedIrvanRNov 02, 2025Brass Contributor196Views0likes2Comments
