Can't start Outlook after reinstalling Windows 10 and MSOffice ???
I have a copy of the datafile from Outlook (connected to a Google mail account with IMAP setup) I then installed a new SSD harddisk on the machine and installed Windows 10 from scratch ! UNFORTUNATELY the LOCAL user on the old Windows 10 setup was named "toves" and I the new setup I named the local user "Tove Sørensen" I think that's why Outlook in the new setup WONT run on the copy from BEFORE installing the new SSD harddisk. A message saying something like - translated from DANISH: Outlook can't run because the datafile is for another mail account ! ( It's the SAME e-mail address I used in both cases and the data file has the same name ! ) How can I RENAME the LOCAL user to "toves" and will it cure the problem ?Solved58Views0likes2CommentsReducing mailbox size
I'm using outlook with Office 365 and I'm getting close to my mailbox limit. Currently I have over 68k emails, some dating bask to 2012 in my main box which is over 90% of my storage capacity. I don't want to mass delete emails, but happy to 'remove' emails prior to 2025 form my daily inbox and even move them to file storage. Whats my best options here as I believe just using the archive box doesn't reduce my mail box size and just copying them to a folder in SharePoint but I don't have a way to sort them in to the the date of when the email was received/sent.Solved49Views0likes1CommentOutlook rules not syncing across devices, am I missing something obvious ?
I am experiencing an issue with Outlook inbox rules not syncing across devices, and I'm trying to figure out if I'm missing out a key configuration or limitation. This is the situation : I have several inbox rules ( eg move messages from specific senders to folders, auto-forward certain emails) on my desktop Outlook client ( Windows, Microsoft 365 subscription). They work perfectly on that machine. But when I open Outlook on the web (OWA) or on my mobile devices, those rules don't show up completely or at times they don't run consistently... Here's what I've checked ; 1. I'm using a Microsoft 365 Business standard account ( exchange online) 2. Rules were created in Outlook desktop app ( File > Manage Rules & Alerts) Cached Exchange Mode is enabled. The rules are client-only according to the UI, but I thought some rules could be server-side if basic enough? On OWA, when I go to Settings > Mail > Rules, it's either empty or doesn't show all the rules I created on desktop. If I create rules in the desktop app shouldn't they sync to other clients ( OWA, mobile), or are they local by default ? What is the difference between client-side and server-side rules in terms of syncing and functionality ?Solved257Views5likes5CommentsOffice 2021 Outlook profile email account settings - server names have appended a "." to the name.
Over the past several years, a recurring issue arises where for some unknown reason, the email account settings where I define the POP server (pop3.comcast.net), gets an extra "." added to the name (i.e. pop3.comcast.net.) This seems to cause Xfinity's email servers to perceive my IP address as a SPAM source and they in turn block my address from using their SMTP server for outbound mail. Interestingly, they continue to let me retrieve incoming via POP but not send via SMTP. The reason I say this is recurring is when it's happened in the past, it was easy enough to just delete that superfluous dot at the end of the name and after 24 hours, Xfinity would unblock my IP and all would be good again. Might not happen again for a year but when it does, I repeat these steps. Earlier this week however when it did occur again, there's a difference. Now when I delete that extra dot, Outlook is refusing to save the entry with it missing and so Outlook on my PC is annoying Xfinity continuously and the blocks are lasting longer and longer from them. I hope they don't become permanent! So that's how this is affecting me, and this brings me to my TWO questions: Why does this keep happening? How can I fix this in Outlook so the proper server names are presented to Xfinity? I did an extensive investigation and repair exercise using CoPilot's AI guidance. Many, many hours of try this, try that, all to no avail. It basically confirmed that the problem wasn't in my configuration and efforts to override what it thought Outlook was doing that might be causing the append, all failed. It wanted me to open a case with Microsoft but as "just" a consumer, there's no way to do so. I did provide feedback within Outlook but that's generated nothing so far. This is so impactful to our family, I really hope there's something someone knows to do. Thank you! JonathanSolved77Views0likes2CommentsMicrosoft Outlook won't send email to my email address
Hello, I'm not an Outlook user, but I received a report that Outlook is having problems sending to my email address. The email address IS valid and working for me, tested by sending from GMail. The address looks like: alan@cxxxxxm.cloud My suspicion is that it's not handling the 'cloud' part correctly The DNS MX records seem to be good. Without buying (or renting) Outlook, any idea how I can file this as a bug?Solved37Views0likes1CommentCategories on Android

Hi, as a Consulting Firm using MS365 and the new Outlook, 99% of our incoming emails are from external senders. Outlook has suddenly started flagging these as suspicious, resulting in 100% of my inbox being flagged as suspicious, whether or not the contact is in my address book or the email and domain are white-listed in my account. This is extremely frustrating and completely defeats the purpose of the action. How can these false positives be eliminated?Solved293Views0likes4CommentsSharing personal calendars with work profile and showing busy times
Hello all, I have a personal email address, which ismailto:email address removed for privacy reasons, and I have shared the calendar of this account with my work profile, which is an Exchange account and has an email address of mailto:email address removed for privacy reasons I have tried sharing my personal account calendar with both "Can Edit" and "Can View all Details" settings, and neither setting has resolved the "problem" I have also shared my work calendar with my personal @outlook account and I can see appointments for both accounts in my personal account as well. The sharing of the calendar has worked as expected and when I am on my work computer and looking at my calendar in the work Outlook client I can see my personal calendar. I have overlaid them so that I can see appointments that are in my personal calendar as well as the work calendar. So far so good. The intent of this sharing was to allow appointments to be booked in either my work or personal calendar with the appointments of the other calendar being visible "The Problem" is that when I am at work and booking an appointment, the appointments that are in my personal calendar (email address removed for privacy reasons) do not show up in the Scheduling assistant view. To be clear, I can see them in the Outlook client calendar, however they become "not visible" when I go to book an appointment. It is also true that other people in the work company can not see my "busy" times from my personal calendar. So this leaves open the possibility of people booking time with me when I have something booked in my personal calendar. "The Ask". Is there a way that I can have my personal shared calendar's busy times show up as busy when I, or other people at my employer, are booking an appointment with me? The problem also exists in my personal calendar. That is, I can see my work appointments when I am looking at the calendar, however, if I go to book an appointment, my work's busy times are not visible during the appointment booking process. I have 3 main email accounts which I've got logged into my Outlook (desktop app) so i can see the 3 calendars all in one place, which is great. One MS365, and two google. However, Microsoft bookings will only see the one calendar associated with the MS365 account, and not the other 2. So I get double booked. Is there a way for Outlook, or my MS365 to sync all my calendars together onto the one MS365 account? I don't want to be adding my MS365 email address to every calendar invite I send from the other email accounts because my calendar will get really messy with double entries. Moreover, I am only incontrol of invites I send. Invites i receive will need manually forwarding to the MS365 account. So if there a way for Outlook or my MS365 to sync across all my acounts, so Bookings can see everything? I have posted a similar question in the Bookings thread asking if I can add multiple accounts to Bookings.Solved975Views0likes5CommentsAuthentication errors when trying to log in

Because of this, I can't be there to investigate his devices, but I can relay assistance over the phone. Hi! I'm wondering if it's possible to lock down the option "Share your location -> People in my organization can ..." in Work Hours and location in new Outlook? IE to set a policy somewhere (Intune/M365 Admin) in order to lock this so a user can't change it? For example if we want the "Can view all details (building, desk etc.)" to be automatically set for everyone. If not at the moment, is this something that is planned for the future? Hello...I have a user using OWA (University - Microsoft 365 A5 license) who is experiencing a new scenario/error msg., when initiating the "upload and share" option to share a locally stored file as an email attachment (gets uploaded by default to their OneDrive Attachments folder) when sending OWA email messages to colleagues. The email will send with the attachment icon/link, but recipients don't have access to it and have to choose the "request access" option, where then the user/sender can approve the request for access. The error msg., is "you don't have permission to give others access to file X" and the filename that is uploaded has red text (normally it is blue). The users has tested this scenario on multiple computers w/ multiple browsers, and changed the upload OneDrive folder location, with the same result. I can initiate the same scenario on the same computers, browsers, and files, while signed onto my OWA account w/ out issue. The user's Mailbox has a small quota size and their OneDrive account does as well. This started about two weeks ago, though as far as I know, no University Enterprise changes were made to the users account. Not sure what to look at for a solution so any help would be appreciated. Hello, I’m experiencing an issue with Outlook LTSC 2024 where mailbox names are missing in the Favorites section of the folder pane. When I add a folder (e.g., the Inbox) from a shared mailbox to my Favorites, it only shows as "Inbox" without the associated mailbox name. For example: On my own system, I see "Inbox - email address removed for privacy reasons" in Favorites. For the affected user, it just displays "Inbox." This creates confusion as the user has access to many shared mailboxes, so the Favorites list ends up with multiple "Inbox" entries without any way to distinguish which mailbox they belong to. Steps Taken: Cached Exchange Mode: Verified this is turned off. New Profile: Created a new Outlook profile. The issue persists across all profiles for the user. Different Computer: The user logged into a different computer with the same Outlook version and settings as mine. The issue followed them, indicating it’s likely tied to their mailbox or Exchange settings. Auto-Mapping: Verified that auto-mapping is working. Folder Renaming: The "Rename Folder" option is greyed out and unavailable. Reset Views: Folder views have been reset to defaults, but the problem persists. Outlook Updates: Confirmed that Outlook is fully patched. Environment Details: Outlook LTSC 2024 (fully patched) Exchange Online (auto-mapping enabled for shared mailboxes) Cached Exchange Mode is disabled Questions: Is there a specific setting in Exchange or Outlook that forces mailbox names to appear in the Favorites section? Are there any additional registry settings or configurations that I might have missed? Has anyone else experienced this issue, and if so, how was it resolved? I’ve exhausted most of the common troubleshooting steps and would greatly appreciate any advice or solutions. Thank you!Solved379Views1like3CommentsRule to only show 3rd email received with same subject
When a report fails, I receive an email notifying me that it failed. The reports will retry twice so I then receive a second and third email. The report doesn’t fully fail until the third email which is when I actually need to take action. Most often a second or third email is never received but with hundreds of reports it would be nice to only receive the third email on my inbox to remove some noise and make it easier to highlight when I need to take action. All three emails will be from the same sender, with the same subject, and received within 60 minutes of each other. I’d love the first two emails to move to a different folder and the third email stay in my inbox. I’ve spent a lot of time trying to configure a rule for this but no luck. Any tips?Solved110Views0likes3Comments
