Favorites shared folders not displaying related shared account

New problem with Outlook 20251212003.10

I have plenty shared mailbox, with every Inbox folder as Favorite to directly see when there is new incoming mails in some of it...

Before, Outlook appended the account name to the folders having the same name...  But not anymore...  it's really problematic...

How can i distinguish my different shared accounts ?

  • Update: This is a known issue and has been fixed in Client Version 20260108025 (New Outlook > Settings > General > About Outlook > Client Version). The fix is now being deployed to production and is currently at 30% saturation, will hopefully be fully deployed by the end of this week. Hope this helps.

I have an end user with a similar issue.  They currently have two mailboxes signed into Outlook on Win11. The 1st mailbox is the user A's mailbox and the 2nd is user B's mailbox.  They have it this way so that user A can assist user B with email flows.  (Don't get me started on them refusing to use shared mailboxes.)  The 1st mailbox shows in the favorites area but the 2nd mailbox does not.  If you right click the 2nd mailbox there is a remove from favorites button.  Clicking this does nothing and if you right click again the remove from favorites button is still there.  If I add a subfolder of the 2nd mailbox to favorites, it will show up but all of the main folders (inbox, sent, etc.) will not show up in favorites. This started about the same time that the names disappeared.

Not fully fixed, shared mailbox folders have now the account name, but still not the crucial information of unread elements...  That's the whole purpose of the favorites : have a quick view of folders with unread emails...

My outlook now indicates the shared mailbox names but the number of emails still does not show and I also can't drag email to sort them into folders listed in my favorites section. Are these two items still being addressed?

My New Outlook just updated to 20260109002.06 - Shared mailbox names returned. However unread messages did not 😕😕😕

I am having the same issue as well. It was working fine up until yesterday and now I can't drag any emails to my folders in my favorites nor can I differentiate the Inboxes as they aren't pulling the full names. It doesn't show how many emails are in the email box either from the favorites view

I have a user experiencing the same. I found the same thing reported within the last day or so in 2 other forums so far:
    https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/answers/questions/5694540/outlook-favourite-name-missing
    https://www.reddit.com/r/Outlook/comments/1icvmsj/all_my_inboxes_are_named_inbox_on_the_folder_pane/
I don't see any Service Health or other type of acknowledged issue from Microsoft so far, but I am opening a ticket with Microsoft for our user, so fingers crossed.
As a side note - I do still see the account name next to the Inbox folder in my favorites, but I am on "Targeted Release" aka Preview Channel for New Outlook; so that might be why my experience is different.

When testing with a staff member I support within our organisation; I found that Outlook Classic displayed the 'shared' items account names / email address for the end user, same with Outlook OWA (web), but Outlook New (app) didn't (calling them all e.g. Inbox).  May be a workaround for now if this also works in your environment; until a fix/change is rolled out by MS.
I wasn't able to reproduce the issue on another device to test possible fixes though.
