Outlook doesn't work for 4th IMAP email addy
Okay, so the title was probably badly worded. Ever since the new outlook, my 4th IMAP email address doesn't work - and it worked in the old outlook. I have 4 IMAPs and 2 gmails I check through Outlook, on two different computers. One is a brand new setup. The email address I am having problems with works fine with the exact same settings on my mobile app (not outlook) and it works fine if I add it to gmail. So it's definitely an outlook problem. Both computers keep redirecting me to sign in, as if it were a wrong password. It isn't. I've tried adding it the prompted way, and by clicking settings and signing in or managing it through there. I need other ideas. I can't seem to fix this.35Views0likes4CommentsUnable to drag cursor to select text in a draft.
For as long as I can remember, I have been unable to drag my cursor to select any text in a draft message. I can however drag the cursor to select text in a received message, as long as I'm not in the midst of drafting a response. I can use a combination of SHIFT+ arrow keys to select text. I also have no issue dragging the cursor to select text in Outlook on the Web. I have to assume this is intentional being that this bug has existed for so long. Is there any explanation as to why Microsoft feels Outlook for Mac users should not be permitted to drag their cursor to select text? I've just updated Outlook for Mac via the App Store to version 16.83 (24031120).1.3KViews0likes1CommentOutlook.com shared calendar disappeared for one user
I have a personal Microsoft account with a Live.com address. For over 10 years, I have had a calendar that is shared with my wife and daughter. It was created when Microsoft introduced the Family Room feature, which created a shared OneNote and shared calendar. While the Family Room feature was discontinued, the shared OneNote and shared calendar have continued to work without problem until today. The shared calendar has disappeared from my daughter's Outlook on Windows, Web and Android. My wife still has access to the shared calendar. I have tried removing her shared access permission and then adding it again. She receives the invitation to accept the access and clicks Accept. The shared calendar reappears in her Outlook calendars with all events shown, but after a few seconds, the calendar disappears. I have not found any useful information about this problem online. All the articles I can find relating to problems with shared calendars relate to Outlook for Microsoft 365 and not the consumer Outlook.com. If anyone can help resolve this problem, it would be greatly appreciated.182Views4likes2CommentsSpam email "FreeSpins4You"
Good morning everyone. I have been receiving spam emails from "FreeSpins4You". There is no address with the email. If I click on the email or if the email selected by deleting email above, Outlook crashes. After Outlook recovers I am able to right click on the email but am not able to select "junk" in the drop down menu. If I simply select the email by left clicking then Outlook will crash again. I am able to drag the email to the junk folder but this does not prevent receiving it again. Please advise if there is anything I can do to stop these messages. I am receiving two or three a day. Thanks, Peter1.3KViews1like2CommentsShared Outlook Calendar disappeared
An Outlook Calendar that my wife and I share has suddenly disappeared from my Outlook Calendar. It still shows on my wife's computer. We set this up a number of years ago, so I have no idea where or how to troubleshoot this. I do recall that we had to each create outlook.com email addresses so that we could access Microsoft Exchange. We are using the Classic version of Outlook. In case it's useful, here's the exact information from the Outlook About page: "Microsoft® Outlook® for Microsoft 365 MSO (Version 2605 Build 16.0.20026.20168) 64-bit." Thanks to anyone who can help me solve this problem.27Views0likes0CommentsNew Outlook Offline Mode: Add and open attachments while offline
Microsoft has been rolling out offline functionality in phases, and the latest update now allows users to add and open attachments while offline. I created a short walkthrough covering what works offline now, what users need to know about attaching files from OneDrive versus local drives, and which features still require an internet connection. I also shared my discoveries when creating a calendar event that you don't want to miss. Current State: You can create a category and assign it to a contact card. Prior to April 2026, you can not easily delete the actual Category, which removes it from the left navigation. Background Info: The contact categories in New Outlook are separate from the Inbox and Calendar categories. The Delete a category icon in the People Tab appears to have been missed. Workaround Solution: Try this method if you do not have the latest New Outlook People Hub Enabled. You can remove the category from each contact by pressing the X by the category. Then close and reopen New Outlook; the category will no longer appear in the People tab's left navigation. More Information as of June 15, 2026: Microsoft has fixed the issue with Contact category deletion. Select a contact | Select Add a Category | Deselect the Category Once you remove the assigned category from all contacts, the category will automatically be removed from the left navigation. Note: You cannot select multiple contacts and apply a category. It is on the backlog. If you find this information helpful, please mark it as the best response. /Teresa #traccreations4e Original post: 02/05/2024 Modified post: 06/15/202618KViews11likes22CommentsNew Outlook for Macintosh Calendar Crashing

There is a serious problem with Copilot turning itself back on in the new Outlook. I would like to ask Microsoft engineers a simple question: What is the purpose of the Copilot toggle button? What is the point of a button that turns itself back on after 15 minutes? Why are you treating users this way, with such an aggressive approach to software we paid for? The situation is extremely simple: If I turn off Copilot, I also lose the Summarize function — which I never wanted in my email client. I do not want you to offer to read my messages for me and retell them. The Copilot button bothers me, and Copilot itself bothers me. I do not need it. When I turn it off, it comes back. What is the point of this? Are you trying to force people into accepting something they clearly do not want? The only way to disable it is to block content analysis. But if I do that, spell check stops working. That is extremely manipulative. I have no words.3.4KViews19likes15CommentsAdd shared mailbox contacts to the new outlook for windows
In my organization, we use a shared mailbox to share a public address book. Is there a way to add it to the new Outlook for Windows? I can see the shared mailbox correctly under ‘Mail -> Shared with Me’, but there’s nothing about shared mailboxes in the ‘People’ tab. I have also tried to manually add the shared mailbox as a standalone account, but it just loads indefinitely after I type in the address Outlook client version: 20231006004.16 Windows 11, build 22621.242817KViews10likes13CommentsWhat is the best way to conduct surveys through Outlook?
We want our employees to receive regular employee engagement surveys through Outlook. What would be the best way to set up this automation? We would also like to build these surveys in a detailed manner with enps and rating questions, and would like to be able to analyze results in detail. I'm not sure who Microsoftoutlook decided to place the number of unread messages right next to the folder name, but they clearly don't use Outlook with multiple email addresses and multiple subfolders taking automatically filed emails. It is now so much more effort to quick scan the folders for unread email. Please have a word with yourself! Rant over :-) Please can you make the position an option. While you are at it, please add font size and colour options for all folders with options to change when containing new email. Thanks!906Views8likes13CommentsFeature Request: Add "Recent Activity Feed" combining Sent & Received emails
Respected Outlook Product Team, I am writing to submit a feature request aimed at improving productivity and message tracking for power users who heavily rely on Microsoft Outlook for their daily communication workflows. The Problem: Currently, Outlook separates communication into distinct folders: "Inbox" for incoming mail and "Sent Items" for outgoing mail. When managing large-scale communications—specifically when sending bulk or recurring emails via BCC (Blind Carbon Copy)—it becomes incredibly tedious to constantly switch back and forth between the Inbox and Sent Items folders to track recent operations or verify the exact sequence of historical activities. The existing "Group messages by conversation" feature also fails to merge these independent outgoing streams seamlessly unless a direct reply is received. The Solution / Feature Proposal: I highly request the product team to introduce a "Recent Activity Feed" filter or view within the main Outlook Inbox interface. Inspired by modern social media and collaboration timeline feeds, this feature should display both Sent and Received emails chronologically in a single unified message list. Incoming and outgoing messages should be clearly distinguishable using intuitive icons (e.g., incoming/outgoing arrows) and labels (e.g., "SENT (BCC)" vs "RECEIVED"). This will allow professionals to review all recent actions, sent bulk updates, and incoming threads at a single glance without breaking their operational focus. I have attached a UI/UX Concept Design image with this email to visually demonstrate how this feature would streamline the user experience seamlessly. I sincerely hope the engineering and product management teams will consider this feature in future Microsoft Outlook updates to adapt the platform to modern, high-volume workflow requirements. Thank you for your time and continuous efforts to improve Microsoft Outlook. Regards, Pawan Kumar86Views0likes3CommentsApp Passwords for IMAP
I have a 1998 Hotmail account that I still use. Today it has evolved to just yet another Microsoft account. For many years, I used `getmail` to receive mails from the account, using e-mail and password credentials. Recently microsoft sunsetted this "less secure" login method for IMAP. So following the docs I set up 2FA and created an app password to use for IMAP login instead of the account password. Unfortunately, the new app password based login keeps failing with getmail version 6.18.11 Copyright (C) 1998-2023 Charles Cazabon and others. Licensed under GNU GPL version 2. SimpleIMAPSSLRetriever:email address removed for privacy reasons@imap-mail.outlook.com:993: email address removed for privacy reasons: credential/login error (b'LOGIN failed.') The getmail config is actually pretty straight forward: [retriever] type = SimpleIMAPSSLRetriever server = imap-mail.outlook.com username = email address removed for privacy reasons password = xxxxxxxxxxxx I am aware that older getmail docs talk about an "xoauth" login method, that requires the e-mail account to be a microsoft developer account (whose registration in turn requires this and that and keeps ending with a strange error popup). However, the Microsoft docs clearly say that with 2FA turned on, all you need is an app password to use "other e-mail clients" But why doesn't it work? Any ideas?988Views0likes3CommentsNew Outlook problem with missing new mail in conversation

I can’t sync my Outlook 2019 calendar and contacts to my iPhone on my Lenovo Windows 11 Computer anymore. For years I have been using iTunes to sync my phone but recently, for some unknown reason, iTunes quit recognizing my computer and all attempts to reauthorize it failed. My research into this situation told me that Apple is phasing out iTunes in favor of Apple Devices and Apple Music. Apple Devices does not sync my Contacts or Calendar. Also, for some reason my Outlook Data files are .OST files instead of .PST. I don’t know why this is because I am not on an Exchange and my Office 2019 is a stand-alone. The .OST format seems to be causing problems with any solution I have been able to find. Even iCloud cant sync them. Can anybody help me get my iPhone to sync my calendar and contacts because I use it all the time?49Views0likes2CommentsNew Outlook
I have been trying to move to the new Outlook for over a year, but I always end up having to revert to Classic Outlook. The new Outlook is slow, particularly when opening windows, and some features appear to have been designed to look modern rather than to be practical. The design also makes it difficult to work efficiently: there are too many colours, the visibility of important information is poor, and the overall experience feels more like using the web app than a proper desktop application. There are also functional issues. For example, Quick Steps do not always work correctly when emails are grouped. Today I missed a Zoom call because I could not click the meeting link in the location field. I also could not copy the link or even view the full URL. This was the final issue for me. In my opinion, Microsoft should reconsider the direction of the new Outlook and instead invest in improving Classic Outlook by making it faster and reducing its memory usage. That should be the priority before adding more new features. It is frustrating to buy a laptop with a large amount of memory only for much of it to be consumed by WhatsApp, Teams, Outlook, and other Microsoft tools. Please focus on optimising existing applications before introducing flashier features and AI functionality that often clutter the screen rather than improve productivity.80Views2likes1Comment
