Have I Blocked too many emails?
I got a new windows 11 laptop recently and l’m learning and relearning a lot of stuff. I’ve kept my old Win-10 desktop computer, but disconnected it from the Internet. The new computer is connected. I’m transferring files back-and-forth via thumb drive. That is doable but a bigger pain than I had thought it would be. I'm also keeping lots of how-to notes. But my biggest problem (for quite a while) has been Spam/Phishing email. That’s not new or caused by windows 11, but it’s more complicated because 10 & 11 are different. I've had to spend a lot of time talking to W-11 AI about navigation etc. Without AI I would have many more problems. I also block emails via iPhone, but that's really, really time consuming. I’ve had the same MSN email address as long as I’ve had a computer. (40-45 years). I also have Gmail & Yahoo email accounts, but rarely even look at them. I get tons of junk emails EVERY day. Way back when, Outlook had a limit on the total number of blocked addresses that it saved. I’m sure I have overflowed that limit by now. It seems that nothing is going to junk. I waste a lot of time blocking one by one, only to have to repeat over and over; often on the same day. I'm not definitely sure the addresses are exactly the same, but the messages are recognizably the same. Is it possible to empty my junk list and start over from scratch (or maybe use just the domains that I have already blocked)? Something similar to "Copy as Path" & removing duplicates could probably do that. I know I would have to tell Outlook to start blocking via domain instead of full email address. I don’t know how to do any of that, but it would be foolish for me to try to map out all the steps if my plan isn't doable. I'm certainly open to all suggestions. Also, how do I flag this post so that I receive notifications of replies?3Views0likes0CommentsOutlook email display name issue
Hello, I am working with two people called Stephen, from two separate organisations. Their email addresses are both stephen @ companyname.com. I have them both set up as contacts, with their correct surnames, and when I send emails out to them they display correctly as 'Stephen A' and 'Stephen B' in the send to list. But when I receive an email from them, or one they are copied into, Stephen A shows up as Stephen B. I have tried clearly the autocomplete list in Outlook, and deleting and remaking Stephen A's contact card, neither of which has worked. Is there anything else I can try to sort it out?12Views0likes0CommentsCopying "Contact" Lists In Outlook 365
I HATE setting up a new computer!!! With that in mind, I'm struggling to establish contacts/email address as I'd had on my old computer's Outlook 365. Both new and old computer (no longer available) are/were using the latest 365 Office software. What I am trying to replicate is the ability to begin typing a person email address in the TO area, and having suggestions appear. NOTE: I believe that Outlook somehow records addresses used, and these may be part of what drives Outlook to make "suggestions". Though obliviously not all used email addresses appear as a "contact", I'd love to have this data available for use in "suggestions"....but on to my initial issue... I found some "contacts" files which, despite my low tech abilities, I managed to import into my new computer's Outlook (see attached photo). However, I now have three (3) "contact" lists as shown, with only the second and third list containing any entries.....and those entries, while having some similarities, are different. Ideally, I'd like to have the contents of the second and third list combined, and be available within the first list. BTW, when I create a new email, I get no suggestions presented from either of the two lists which contain entries.....I get nothing! MANY thanks in advance!!! On my Outlook 2021 for Windows 11, I have to switch folders to see what new e-mail just came in, if any. For example, I launch Outlook, it connects and does the IMAP sync. The Inbox shows no new e-mail. So, to see if I really do have new, unread email, I have to go to any other folder, wait a second or two for the IMAP sync to finish, then go back to the Inbox. If there are new messages, only after doing that will I see them. Background info: New computer, bought May 2025 because old box couldn't be updated to Windows 11. I don't remember this problem on the old computer. I think it started after I loaded everything on the new computer. A month or so ago, I had an unrelated problem that led me to totally wipe Windows and start over from the Dell image. Reloaded Office 2021 (I believe it is the standalone version, not M365) and this problem continued. There are two e-mail accounts in Outlook, but only one is affected. Both use IMAP. Yahoo.com works just fine. It is Spectrum.net that is having this problem. Anyone have any ideas where to start? And yes, I did verify the Spectrum IMAP settings; I can get and send email just fine. The problem is, new e-mail doesn't display unless I do the dance decribed above.12Views0likes0CommentsTrouble resetting password
My wife is having trouble resetting her password on her outlook account. She’s clicked forgot password And followed it through to the 2 step verification method. Email address goes though ok but when the mobile verification comes up she enters the last 4 didgets of her mobile number and it says this can’t be processed at the moment and to try again at a later time. It’s been like this for 2 weeks now. She’s waited 3 days before trying again but it’s still like this. Is there a number she can call or talk to a human?20Views0likes0CommentsCompressed email format
Hello, In my company some emails we receive are being compressed with no formatting at all, so it is one continuous paragraph. Other companies are receiving emails with the same formatting. Is anyone else experiencing this problem? The formatting is selected as HTML.9Views0likes0CommentsOutlook - Account Set Up
I'm setting up a new laptop, bought with Office pre-installed. I have set up three of the four Email addresses I have long term used in Outlook on another laptop without issue, it accepted the login(s) and installed the accounts, now working. The fourth, another long term existing Virginmedia (so Yahoo?) Email account, following the same process, keeps diverting to a Microsoft window asking for an EMail account. ANY email account results in a window insisting I need a business or school account to proceed. I'm not a business nor school user. It did not ask for this with the others! How can I stop this nonsense please?9Views0likes0CommentsConstantly being asked to reauthenticate accounts in Outlook for Mac
Hey everyone, I started running into a strange issue a few days ago. I am using Outlook for Mac Version 16.102.1 (25101829) with seven accounts configured. Out of nowhere, I keep getting repeated prompts to reauthenticate all my accounts. I use the Microsoft Authenticator app on my iPhone, get the push notification, approve the two digit code, and everything goes through fine. A few hours later, Outlook shows the same pop up again asking me to reauthenticate. I have gone through this process at least ten times now, and it keeps happening. Is anyone else seeing this issue or found a fix?43Views0likes0Commentswebcal links not opening correctly in outlook
I create a webpage with the following content <a href="webcal://www.mydomain.se/mycal">TEST</A> When I click the link, outlook opens and tries to add a calendar, but sets the URL to //www.mydomain.se/mycal It also complains my url is incorrect. I would have expected it to insert a link like https://www.mydomain.se/mycal Is this an issue with outlook, or am I doing something wrong? Changing the link into <a href="webcal:https://www.mydomain.se/mycal">TEST</A> will make it work. But this seems like an incorrect url and might break other integrations, I guess. Any ideas?31Views0likes0CommentsOutlook does not recognize language in E-Mail automatically
Since I have Windows 11 I have been having all kinds of problems with Outlook - from installing my e-mail accounts to getting language settings to work. I have tried using co-pilot to help me with this - it's been completely useless, as it seems to access only outdated info or points me in completely wrong directions. so I hope and appreciate that a real human being (three yeahs for you!!) can help me with the following: even though I have installed all my required language packs and set that it should automatically notice the language I am writing in, it fails to do so since my update. What is going on there? thanks a bunch for your assistance! Manuel28Views0likes0CommentsSearching for parameters
Hello, I have two questions about the latest version of Microsoft Outlook: Customizing columns: How can I add or modify columns in the email list view? I'd like to customize which information is displayed Replied message indicator: In previous versions, there was a small symbol (usually two arrows) that showed whether an email had been replied to. Is this feature still available in the latest version? If yes, how can I enable it to display? I'd appreciate any guidance on these features. Thank you in advance for your help! Hello Team, I noticed an issue on the Microsoft Tech Community site. If I open the main Tech Community homepage (https://techcommunity.microsoft.com ) and navigate to the Product menu, I correctly see an Outlook option. However, when I open any subpage and then check the Product menu again, I see "Microsoft 365 Copilot" listed twice. One of these entries is incorrectly mapped to Outlook instead of showing Outlook as its own product. For example, this is the correct Outlook category link: https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/category/outlook This looks like a navigation or menu mapping error. I am not sure where exactly issues like this should be reported, so I am posting here. If anyone knows the right channel for reporting website issues like this, please let me know for future reference.
I recently got to try out Microsoft 365 Copilot’s Prioritize My Inbox in both New Outlook and Classic Outlook—and honestly, it’s a game-changer! I was away for a few weeks, so when I came back, my inbox was a mess. Important emails were tangled up with calendar invites and lower-priority messages that hadn’t been pushed to the Other tab. That’s when I switched the sort order to Priority. Instantly, Copilot grouped my emails into High, Normal, and Low categories. It was like having an AI assistant do the sorting for me. Even without any extra training, it did a surprisingly good job highlighting what really mattered. The best part? I saved about an hour of digging through my inbox and could focus on the messages that needed my attention first. Blog Post with Video: Copilot Outlook Prioritize My Inbox by High| Normal | Low Priorities traccreations4e-p25 9/17/2025Can MBOX files be opened directly in Outlook 365?
This is a very common question. The short answer is no, Outlook 365 doesn’t support MBOX files directly. Outlook works with only PST and OST file formats. MBOX is a file format that is used by many email clients like Thunderbird, Apple Mail, Eudora, SeaMonkey, etc. Because of this difference, I can’t just drag and drop my old MBOX file into Outlook and I also can't expect it to open directly in Outlook. Nevertheless, people typically deal with this situation in a few indirect ways. One way is to add your Outlook 365 account to an email client that supports MBOX, like Thunderbird or Apple Mail, using IMAP after first setting it up. The messages from your MBOX folders can then be exported or moved into the Outlook/Office 365 mailbox inside the client. The data will sync to your Outlook 365 account because it is connected via IMAP. Another way is users need to export emails from the MBOX-based client into formats that Outlook supports, such as EML files. Dragging all EML file them one by one into Outlook. While this method is workable, it is for smaller mailboxes. It becomes time-consuming with large data. I want a simple know-you suggestion for this conversion process. I know I can get better results on Google but I want that solution that gives 100% assurance to open MBOX files in Outlook.30Views0likes0Comments
