Hello everyone, posting to report that after the latest automatic update to Microsoft Office 365 version 16.0.19328.20158, we are experiencing a critical issue on multiple company machines running Windows Server 2016: The Outlook desktop application launches normally, but when trying to open any email, the following error appears: “There was a problem opening this item... The text formatting command is not available... Reinstall Microsoft Outlook.” Launching Outlook in safe mode (Outlook /safe) does not help. Creating the FORMS2 folder (suggested workaround) does not fix it. Attempting a downgrade via OfficeC2RClient.exe fails with error 30183-27 (400). Quick/online repair from Control Panel also has no effect. In our environment, this issue appeared simultaneously on many workstations and servers, right after the Office update today. Temporary solution: We are instructing users to access their mail via Outlook Web App (OWA), which is not affected by this bug. We would like to know: If others have experienced this bug with this build, including on Windows Server 2016 If any working workaround exists, or an official fix timeframe from Microsoft Thanks to anyone who can share their experience or updates!1.9KViews3likes8CommentsCannot unlock my Microsoft account, SMS verification not working
Hi, I need help with a blocked Microsoft account. When I try to sign in, the system asks for my phone number to unblock the account. The first SMS took too long to arrive and when I tried again I received an error message and cannot retry. I tried another phone number but I did not receive any SMS and now I cannot use my original number again. I tried all support options through https://support.microsoft.com/home/contact . I changed my password twice, completed the account recovery form, changed the password again, cleared cache, switched networks, changed browsers and used incognito mode. Nothing worked. When I enter my main number, it shows “Something went wrong” and does not go to the next step. When I use another number, I receive the “Try another verification method” error, even though no other method is available. My account is still logged in on my phone, but I cannot unlock it on the web or on other devices. I have had this account for more than 10 years and everything is linked to it. I even created another email to contact Microsoft Support, but it always redirects me to the same link and I cannot open an actual support ticket. Could someone from Microsoft please help me unblock my account or escalate this issue? I can provide any additional verification if needed. Thank you.42Views0likes0CommentsEnable Moderation and Administrative Oversight for Outlook Newsletter
I’m requesting the ability to become the full administrator of Outlook newsletters not just in my organization, but across Microsoft 365. I want to manage templates, delivery settings, analytics, and permissions. My goal is to have broader control over how newsletters are created, customized, and distributed. I’m passionate about communication and want to help shape how newsletters work in Outlook. Please consider adding a role or feature that allows users like me to take ownership and lead newsletter strategy across organizations. I’ve seen cases where people used newsletters to share inappropriate content, including profanity and offensive language. Without proper moderation tools, this can damage professional communication and create serious issues. I want to help prevent misuse by having the ability to moderate, approve, or restrict newsletter content before it’s sent. I also want to contribute to improving the overall design and performance of the newsletter experience, making it more intuitive, professional, and reliable. Giving users like me full control over Outlook newsletters would improve communication quality, prevent abuse, and empower responsible leadership across organizations. If exclusive admin control isn’t granted, at minimum there should be a designated Admin role because without clear ownership, misuse and poor communication will continue unchecked. I’m ready to take on that responsibility and help shape the future of Outlook newsletters.100Views1like1CommentOutlook 365: Folder sorting resets automatically to A–Z
Outlook 365 – Folder sorting resets automatically Environment: - Outlook desktop app (Microsoft 365) - Exchange / Office 365 mailbox - Dark mode enabled - Multiple shared mailboxes Problem description: Outlook automatically changes the folder sorting/display settings without user action. The option “Sort subfolders A to Z” reactivates randomly during the day. The configured sorting (e.g., Received – Descending) resets several times per day. In View Settings, the sorting remains configured correctly, but visually Outlook displays a different order. The issue occurs across multiple folders (Inbox, shared mailboxes). Actions already taken: - Verified and modified sorting via View > View Settings > Sort. - Applied the same view to multiple folders. - Confirmed that the settings remain saved correctly. - Issue persists: the parameter stays the same, but Outlook displays mails differently after refresh. Possible causes considered: 1. Outlook bug – display refresh resets the sorting visually even though settings remain unchanged. 2. Corrupted Outlook views – local view definition might be corrupted (outlook.exe /cleanviews). 3. Outlook add-in – third-party add-in may override sorting. 4. Exchange synchronization – server-side policy may enforce default sorting on shared mailboxes. 5. Recent Microsoft 365 updates – some users have reported similar issues in 2025 (views automatically resetting). Request: - Confirm whether this is a known Outlook 365 bug related to automatic resetting of folder views/sorting. - Provide solution or patch/workaround. - Official Microsoft recommendations to prevent Outlook from reverting to A → Z sorting automatically.93Views0likes0CommentsAdd Owned Account as Alias
Hi All, I have two Microsoft accounts at present: an old one originally used for OneDrive, and another I had made more recently to get the @outlook.com handle so that I have the same email for Outlook and Gmail. We recently purchased the family plan on my old OneDrive account, and it's asked me to create an Outlook alias. Is there any way to add the other @outlook.com account to my OneDrive account as an alias? Do I have to delete the @outlook one and reclaim the domain as an alias? If so, what is the delay period between that email becoming available again? Curious to hear what everyone thinks the easyist plan of action is, Cheers, Fish109Views0likes2CommentsMicrosoft Graph rich subscription creation fails for GCC clients.
I’m trying to create a Microsoft Graph subscription to watch Outlook events with encrypted resource data. My request body looks like this: { "changeType":"updated, deleted", "notificationUrl":"https://my-inbound.url", "lifecycleNotificationUrl":"https://my-inbound.url", "resource":"users/<redacted>/events?$select=id,subject,start,end,attendees,isCancelled,isOrganizer,iCalUId,uid,bodyPreview,uid,organizer,onlineMeeting,onlineMeetingUrl,changeKey,sensitivity,lastModifiedDateTime,originalEndTimeZone,createdDateTime,allowNewTimeProposals,hasAttachments,singleValueExtendedProperties", "expirationDateTime":"2025-08-15T12:02:19.124967+00:00", "includeResourceData":true, "clientState":"<redacted>", "encryptionCertificate":"<redacted>", "encryptionCertificateId":"<redacted>" } When I POST to: https://graph.microsoft.us/v1.0/subscriptions I get the following error: { "error": { "code": "ExtensionError", "message": "Operation: Create; Exception: [Status Code: BadRequest; Reason: were unable to deserialize ]", "innerError": { "date": "2025-08-13T12:18:05", "request-id": "cde172db-4cc2-4cd2-9e1c-63f46f36d0e3", "client-request-id": "cde172db-4cc2-4cd2-9e1c-63f46f36d0e3" } } } This request payload works for all our clients except those on Microsoft GCC High. Is there a different setup required when configuring clients in GCC High?51Views1like0CommentsOutlook rules not syncing across devices, am I missing something obvious ?
I am experiencing an issue with Outlook inbox rules not syncing across devices, and I'm trying to figure out if I'm missing out a key configuration or limitation. This is the situation : I have several inbox rules ( eg move messages from specific senders to folders, auto-forward certain emails) on my desktop Outlook client ( Windows, Microsoft 365 subscription). They work perfectly on that machine. But when I open Outlook on the web (OWA) or on my mobile devices, those rules don't show up completely or at times they don't run consistently... Here's what I've checked ; 1. I'm using a Microsoft 365 Business standard account ( exchange online) 2. Rules were created in Outlook desktop app ( File > Manage Rules & Alerts) Cached Exchange Mode is enabled. The rules are client-only according to the UI, but I thought some rules could be server-side if basic enough? On OWA, when I go to Settings > Mail > Rules, it's either empty or doesn't show all the rules I created on desktop. If I create rules in the desktop app shouldn't they sync to other clients ( OWA, mobile), or are they local by default ? What is the difference between client-side and server-side rules in terms of syncing and functionality ?Solved451Views5likes5CommentsForward/be notified of emails sent to nonexistent address on same domain? Not admin. School account.
My student email address (Outlook) contains a misspelling of my name (one missing letter). So it's very easy for people to send their emails to an address that doesn't exist, thinking they're sending it to me. What would be great if I could somehow have those emails forwarded to the correct address, or at least be notified when people try to send an email to the nonexistent address. I've tested things a bit. When I try sending an email to the "wrong" (correct spelling of my name, but nonexistent) address, I usually get an email from Microsoft indicating the mistake. But not always. And even when I do, it sometimes takes a few minutes, or it goes to some easily overlooked folder besides the main inbox. I worry that busy people might send an email to the wrong address and move on, never noticing the following error email. I know one obvious solution is to ask my school's IT department to make a new address with the correct spelling, and have all emails sent to the previous incorrectly-spelled address forwarded to the new one. But 1. I don't know if I'll be allowed to keep two addresses, and 2. I don't trust Outlook to successfully forward everything to the new address. I'd rather use a "catch-all" solution, where emails sent to the correctly spelled (but nonexistent) address are automatically forwarded to the existing (but incorrectly spelled) address. Or maybe I can somehow get a notification that someone has tried to send an email to the nonexistent address? Are either of these (or something else I haven't thought of) possible? Before taking this to my school's IT department, I want to see if there's anything I can do myself. Like I said, it's a student email address, so my options are probably limited. But I'm wondering if I have access to any settings (I mainly use the web version of Outlook, but I also have the PC app), or if there's any 3rd party solutions I can implement on my own that could accomplish something like what I have in mind. If I do end up having to ask my school's IT department for help, what should I tell them to try?244Views0likes3Comments
