Outlook 365 – Folder sorting resets automatically Environment: - Outlook desktop app (Microsoft 365) - Exchange / Office 365 mailbox - Dark mode enabled - Multiple shared mailboxes Problem description: Outlook automatically changes the folder sorting/display settings without user action. The option “Sort subfolders A to Z” reactivates randomly during the day. The configured sorting (e.g., Received – Descending) resets several times per day. In View Settings, the sorting remains configured correctly, but visually Outlook displays a different order. The issue occurs across multiple folders (Inbox, shared mailboxes). Actions already taken: - Verified and modified sorting via View > View Settings > Sort. - Applied the same view to multiple folders. - Confirmed that the settings remain saved correctly. - Issue persists: the parameter stays the same, but Outlook displays mails differently after refresh. Possible causes considered: 1. Outlook bug – display refresh resets the sorting visually even though settings remain unchanged. 2. Corrupted Outlook views – local view definition might be corrupted (outlook.exe /cleanviews). 3. Outlook add-in – third-party add-in may override sorting. 4. Exchange synchronization – server-side policy may enforce default sorting on shared mailboxes. 5. Recent Microsoft 365 updates – some users have reported similar issues in 2025 (views automatically resetting). Request: - Confirm whether this is a known Outlook 365 bug related to automatic resetting of folder views/sorting. - Provide solution or patch/workaround. - Official Microsoft recommendations to prevent Outlook from reverting to A → Z sorting automatically.81Views0likes0CommentsAdd Owned Account as Alias
Hi All, I have two Microsoft accounts at present: an old one originally used for OneDrive, and another I had made more recently to get the @outlook.com handle so that I have the same email for Outlook and Gmail. We recently purchased the family plan on my old OneDrive account, and it's asked me to create an Outlook alias. Is there any way to add the other @outlook.com account to my OneDrive account as an alias? Do I have to delete the @outlook one and reclaim the domain as an alias? If so, what is the delay period between that email becoming available again? Curious to hear what everyone thinks the easyist plan of action is, Cheers, Fish69Views0likes2CommentsMicrosoft Graph rich subscription creation fails for GCC clients.
I’m trying to create a Microsoft Graph subscription to watch Outlook events with encrypted resource data. My request body looks like this: { "changeType":"updated, deleted", "notificationUrl":"https://my-inbound.url", "lifecycleNotificationUrl":"https://my-inbound.url", "resource":"users/<redacted>/events?$select=id,subject,start,end,attendees,isCancelled,isOrganizer,iCalUId,uid,bodyPreview,uid,organizer,onlineMeeting,onlineMeetingUrl,changeKey,sensitivity,lastModifiedDateTime,originalEndTimeZone,createdDateTime,allowNewTimeProposals,hasAttachments,singleValueExtendedProperties", "expirationDateTime":"2025-08-15T12:02:19.124967+00:00", "includeResourceData":true, "clientState":"<redacted>", "encryptionCertificate":"<redacted>", "encryptionCertificateId":"<redacted>" } When I POST to: https://graph.microsoft.us/v1.0/subscriptions I get the following error: { "error": { "code": "ExtensionError", "message": "Operation: Create; Exception: [Status Code: BadRequest; Reason: were unable to deserialize ]", "innerError": { "date": "2025-08-13T12:18:05", "request-id": "cde172db-4cc2-4cd2-9e1c-63f46f36d0e3", "client-request-id": "cde172db-4cc2-4cd2-9e1c-63f46f36d0e3" } } } This request payload works for all our clients except those on Microsoft GCC High. Is there a different setup required when configuring clients in GCC High?44Views1like0CommentsOutlook rules not syncing across devices, am I missing something obvious ?
I am experiencing an issue with Outlook inbox rules not syncing across devices, and I'm trying to figure out if I'm missing out a key configuration or limitation. This is the situation : I have several inbox rules ( eg move messages from specific senders to folders, auto-forward certain emails) on my desktop Outlook client ( Windows, Microsoft 365 subscription). They work perfectly on that machine. But when I open Outlook on the web (OWA) or on my mobile devices, those rules don't show up completely or at times they don't run consistently... Here's what I've checked ; 1. I'm using a Microsoft 365 Business standard account ( exchange online) 2. Rules were created in Outlook desktop app ( File > Manage Rules & Alerts) Cached Exchange Mode is enabled. The rules are client-only according to the UI, but I thought some rules could be server-side if basic enough? On OWA, when I go to Settings > Mail > Rules, it's either empty or doesn't show all the rules I created on desktop. If I create rules in the desktop app shouldn't they sync to other clients ( OWA, mobile), or are they local by default ? What is the difference between client-side and server-side rules in terms of syncing and functionality ?Solved369Views5likes5CommentsForward/be notified of emails sent to nonexistent address on same domain? Not admin. School account.
My student email address (Outlook) contains a misspelling of my name (one missing letter). So it's very easy for people to send their emails to an address that doesn't exist, thinking they're sending it to me. What would be great if I could somehow have those emails forwarded to the correct address, or at least be notified when people try to send an email to the nonexistent address. I've tested things a bit. When I try sending an email to the "wrong" (correct spelling of my name, but nonexistent) address, I usually get an email from Microsoft indicating the mistake. But not always. And even when I do, it sometimes takes a few minutes, or it goes to some easily overlooked folder besides the main inbox. I worry that busy people might send an email to the wrong address and move on, never noticing the following error email. I know one obvious solution is to ask my school's IT department to make a new address with the correct spelling, and have all emails sent to the previous incorrectly-spelled address forwarded to the new one. But 1. I don't know if I'll be allowed to keep two addresses, and 2. I don't trust Outlook to successfully forward everything to the new address. I'd rather use a "catch-all" solution, where emails sent to the correctly spelled (but nonexistent) address are automatically forwarded to the existing (but incorrectly spelled) address. Or maybe I can somehow get a notification that someone has tried to send an email to the nonexistent address? Are either of these (or something else I haven't thought of) possible? Before taking this to my school's IT department, I want to see if there's anything I can do myself. Like I said, it's a student email address, so my options are probably limited. But I'm wondering if I have access to any settings (I mainly use the web version of Outlook, but I also have the PC app), or if there's any 3rd party solutions I can implement on my own that could accomplish something like what I have in mind. If I do end up having to ask my school's IT department for help, what should I tell them to try?199Views0likes3CommentsWork hours and location policy
Hi! I'm wondering if it's possible to lock down the option "Share your location -> People in my organization can ..." in Work Hours and location in new Outlook? IE to set a policy somewhere (Intune/M365 Admin) in order to lock this so a user can't change it? For example if we want the "Can view all details (building, desk etc.)" to be automatically set for everyone. If not at the moment, is this something that is planned for the future? Kind regards, FridaSolved147Views0likes2Comments
