Add Owned Account as Alias

Hi All,

I have two Microsoft accounts at present: an old one originally used for OneDrive, and another I had made more recently to get the @outlook.com handle so that I have the same email for Outlook and Gmail.

We recently purchased the family plan on my old OneDrive account, and it's asked me to create an Outlook alias. Is there any way to add the other @outlook.com account to my OneDrive account as an alias?

Do I have to delete the @outlook one and reclaim the domain as an alias? If so, what is the delay period between that email becoming available again?

Curious to hear what everyone thinks the easyist plan of action is,
Cheers,
Fish

You cannot directly add an existing Microsoft account as an alias to another account. To use the @outlook.com address as an alias, you’d need to remove it from the current account first. After deletion, it typically takes 30 days before the address becomes available to add as an alias to another account.

In the web version of Outlook, go to Settings → Mail → Accounts → Add Email Alias. You will need global administrator authorization to do this.
