I had the opportunity to interview Caitlin Hart, the Principal Product Manager for New Outlook, where I asked the challenging questions of frustrated New Outlook users, IT Consultants, and IT developers. We talked about: Is the New Outlook just a wrapper for the web version? Why didn’t Microsoft recreate Classic Outlook from scratch? Why are users forced to switch to the New Outlook app? Why are some users still resistant to adopting the New Outlook? When will New Outlook meet the needs of power users? How is Microsoft encouraging VBA developers to stay ahead? And more Watch the video for Caitlin's responses. Hi all Having a big problem with this recently and need your help to understand if Microsoft has made a general change with Office 365 Family accounts with personalized domains, or if it is just my individual problem. I've been running Outlook on my PC with a Office 365 Family account and personalized / custom domain @NotMyRealDomain.EMAIL using namesilo.com for DNS for 1.5 years. Everything worked fine, although in my online (outlook.live.com) web-based mailbox under Settings->Premium-->Personalized Email Address, it has always said "We couldn't connect the domain NotMyRealDomain.EMAIL to Outlook. Cancel setup and try again." But as I said everything worked so I didn't mess with this. (Now if I press "cancel setup" it warns me that this will disconnect my personalized domain and I wont be able to restore it due to MS discontinuing support for personalized domains in the Office Family plan. So I'm definitely not pressing that button.) The problem is that my Outlook profile is corrupted (I think) and to debug the problem I need to create a new profile. But I cant. When I try to create a new profile, it fails to add my mailbox using Autodiscover. I enter my email address RON@NotMyRealDomain.EMAIL and my password, it tries to setup outlook and eventually fails. Manual setup also fails. In some cases it complains the username RON@NotMyRealDomain.EMAIL is incorrect, in other cases it says it cannot contact the server. At the same time, I have no problems using this email address using the web-client. This worked 3-4 months ago, and nothing changed except I updated my version of Office. So I suspect that Microsoft changed something with how Outlook recognizes and/or configures mailboxes. Can somebody who runs outlooks with a Family 365 account with a personalized domain (ideally not on godaddy) please try to create a new additional profile to see if you have the same issue? If it works OK for you and if you are not running the latest version of Outlook (Outlook for Microsoft 365 Version 2404 Build 16.0.17531.20128 MSO 64-bit, the latest Current Channel version) can you try updating your Office to see if that causes the problem? If indeed MS changed something it could be bad news... thanks for your help!641Views0likes7CommentsHow to Create Custom Themes in Outlook Using Copilot | Full Guide

Hello, Our users are reporting errors when they send a new e-mail message. When they send the message, Outlook gives an error because there would be no subject. But there is a subject...! How is this possible? I checked some things and I see some strange things: - there is a subject, but Outlook does not see this - when forwarding or replying a message, there is no error - when changing the subject of a forwarded message, the original subject is used - the error is not always; after some time message are send with subject again - in the webmail mails are send without problems At this moment we are using Outlook 365, version 2502 (build 18526.20264, monthly channel). Does anyone knows about this problem? Kind regards, Arjan72Views0likes2CommentsWork hours and location policy
Hi! I'm wondering if it's possible to lock down the option "Share your location -> People in my organization can ..." in Work Hours and location in new Outlook? IE to set a policy somewhere (Intune/M365 Admin) in order to lock this so a user can't change it? For example if we want the "Can view all details (building, desk etc.)" to be automatically set for everyone. If not at the moment, is this something that is planned for the future? Kind regards, FridaSolved54Views0likes2CommentsDisabled TNEF and messages with PDF still arrive as winmail.dat
Hello, some of our customers and our users using Office 365 start see after last builds Office 2016 strange things about sending e-mails with PDF attachments. Outside world complain, that they receive winmail.dat instead of original e-mail. I know, there are programs how to read this type of attachment and recover message but, it is not good for users and experience. What is strange in this issue, is that at Office 365 side, the TNEF format is disabled (set to "Never") in all Remote Domains. Also registry key to disable TNEF on Outlook 2016 side are set correctly. All name cache was deleted and records in address book check for settings. All of them are correct. But other side still receive winmail.dat. The combination, which we tracked are: Sender: Outlook 2016 with PDF attachment, at Windows 10 from Office 365 Recipient: Outlook, every version, iOS and macOS and Windows, on Office 365 or different mail server Do you see some other things to look at?3KViews0likes3Comments
