Copilot in Outlook: New agentic experiences for email and calendar

Outlook used to be where you worked. Starting today, it's where Copilot works for you.

Until now, Copilot in Outlook helped with the task in front of you: drafting an email, catching up on a long thread, or finding a time to meet. Useful, but not the hardest part. The real work is everything around it: the follow-ups that slip, the messages that need attention, and the schedule changes that pile up before the day even starts.

That’s what’s changing today. Copilot in Outlook is now agentic, taking on the ongoing work of running your inbox and calendar. It triages emails, reschedules conflicts, and surfaces what matters most before you even ask.

Manage your inbox with Copilot

Sequences shortened for demonstration purposes

Managing your inbox isn’t just about reading and replying. It’s the steady work of keeping things moving. Copilot in Outlook now takes on that work, prioritizing emails, surfacing what needs a response, drafting follow-ups, and setting up rules to keep your inbox clutter-free.

You tell Copilot what you need, and it works through the steps, showing what it’s doing along the way so you can review, adjust, or step in whenever you choose.

Prompts to try:

Help me with follow-ups: Identify people who haven’t replied to my emails after 24 hours, prioritize the ones that matter most, and draft polite follow-up emails for me.

Draft complex emails: Pull the latest updates on [project name] over the last week. Draft a confidential, high‑importance update email for my manager.

Stay on top of important emails: Create an inbox rule that assigns the “High Priority” category to all new emails from my manager where I’m on the “To:” line.

Catch up after vacation: I just returned from vacation. Help me catch up: summarize what I’ve missed, highlight what’s most urgent, and draft a short briefing email. Then suggest emails I can safely archive and 1-2 tasks I should focus on first.

Availability: Available via the Frontier program for all Outlook endpoints beginning April 27.

Delegate calendar management to Copilot

Scheduling a meeting is the easy part. What comes after, reprioritizing, resolving conflicts, and finding time to prepare, is what really takes the effort.

Copilot in Outlook now does continuous work in your calendar. It keeps your schedule on track, handles routine changes, and helps you align your time to what matters most.

Proactively monitor and manage your schedule

Sequences shortened for demonstration purposes

Based on your preferences, Copilot can proactively manage your calendar. It can respond to meeting invites, resolve 1:1 conflicts by rescheduling, rebook meeting rooms, and block focus time when you need it.

And when you need to make a change yourself, Copilot can help from chat or in the meeting form - rescheduling or canceling a meeting, updating details, or drafting an agenda based on the goal, audience, and tone you have in mind.

Prompts to try:

Schedule a Copilot-managed 1:1 meeting: Schedule a weekly 1:1 with my manager for Monday afternoons. Reschedule when conflicts occur.

Protect my time: Automatically follow all large meetings if they are outside my working hours, unless sent by my leadership team.

Adjust my schedule: Reschedule all of my 1:1s with my direct reports for next week to the Friday afternoon that week.

Draft an agenda: Create an agenda for tomorrow's product launch standup. Focus on open blockers, owner assignments, and a go/no-go decision.

Availability: Available via the Frontier program for Outlook for Windows and web beginning April 27.

Align your time to your priorities

Sequences shortened for demonstration purposes

It’s not always clear where your time goes at work. Copilot helps you step back and adjust your schedule around what matters most, so you can see your priorities, spot where you’re overbooked or context-switching, gather what you need to prepare, and protect focus time before important meetings.

Prompts to try:

Prioritize my time: Review my calendar next week and recommend which meetings I should decline, follow, delegate or convert to async in order to reduce meeting load while maintaining output quality.

Prepare for meetings: Help me prepare for my meeting with [customer name] tomorrow. What do I need to know, what should I ask, and what risks should I watch for?

Availability: Available via the Frontier program for Outlook for Windows and web beginning April 27.

Get started

Copilot in Outlook now handles the work across your inbox and calendar.
Add-in without Connected Experience

I've developed an Outlook Add-in using the new web tech based approach (not a legacy COM Plugin). One of our customers wants to use said Add-in, but they have the requirement that they can't enable the "Connected Experience" for their Outlook. Is it possible in any way to use an Outlook Add-in without having to enable the "Connected Experience" or is this just not an option?

I been unable to sync my calendar & contacts between Outlook desktop and my Android phone. I am using Microsoft Office 365 on Windows 11 and a Galaxy Z Flip7 FE android phone. My email provider is Gmail with the setup IMAP/SMTP.

Apparently, IMAP is the problem, and I need to be on Exchange. How can I switch to Exchange without losing my files, contacts and calendar items?

Thanks Don

I'm not sure why, but since yesterday both Teams and Outlook have quit working. I have an S25 Ultra. I attempted to clear data and cache and do a fresh install. Outlook just hangs on a black screen with the notification "optimizing database," and Teams just indefinitely loads.

I can't check my personal email or my work email and can't keep track of my work chats on Teams.

Problem with Outlook classic

Hello, how do I ask for help in this forum about a problem that the support desk seems to have no idea how to fix? My Outlook Classic on my desktop will not open 3rd party links and tells me that my organisation has a policy preventing it happening and to contact my Help Desk but I have a family subscription and no help desk. Even when a person rang me to talk to me after multiple reports, part way through our conversation he just disappeared. I am in Australia so the time difference may be an issue. An example of the problem is that I received a retail company email featuring a link to view their catalogues and my Outlook won't open it because of a policy I never asked for. I don't know if this is the right forum but it's the only one I could find to ask a question on.

Outlook Retrieves Emails But Fails to Put Then Into the Inbox

I have a brand new Dell desktop that replaced a previous Dell desktop computer. I have rebuilt everything on the new computer that was on the old, but have a very strange problem with Outlook. When I click on "Send/Receive", I see at the bottom right of the screen that it is retrieving a bunch of emails from the Gmail server. But upon completion of the retrieval, none of those emails appears in the Inbox. If I click again on "Send/Receive", the process repeats. And since I have set up retrieval to automatically issue the "Send/Receive" every three minutes, this process repeats and repeats, never placing the retrieved emails into the Inbox. I should also comment that the count of the emails only increases, telling me that those emails do not disappear from the server.

I am using POP3, not IMAP. I am using Outlook Classic, not the new Outlook.

I have been using Outlook for many, many years, and have successfully set up Outlook many, many times. But I am totally baffled by what I am seeing.

I would appreciate any suggestions at all.

Thank you.

Len Jacobson

Outlook not removing junk emails from one sender

I'm using Outlook 2016 on Windows 11. Beginning on Feb 17, my email spam folder started blowing up with about 40+ spam emails per day, all on "fake medical" topics -- attempting to sell cures for every medical condition that you can think of, and some you would never think of. Then after a couple of weeks, some of them started appearing in my Inbox, not caught by the spam filter. So, I raised my Junk email filter level to High. And whenever an unwanted email still gets through to my Inbox, I put the sender on the Outlook "block sender" list.

But emails from one particular sender keep getting through to the Inbox, no matter how many times I block the address. What else can I do?

I Can't Permanently Delete Emails From Shared Mailbox

Anyone else had this issue and fixed it? In the outlook desktop app, I deleted mail from my shared mailboxes inbox and sent folder too I believe. In my shared mailbox, under the deleted folder, I select all the messages and click empty folder to try and permanently delete these emails, but then it just readds it back to the shared mailbox's deleted folder. It also creates a copy in my personal account's deleted folder, and when I delete it from there permanently, it still shows in the shared mailbox's deleted folder.

How can I fix it so I can get rid of these undeletable emails in my shared mailboxes deleted folder?

Outlook Classic "hangs" if I want to open attachments

I have outlook classic on 3 PCs. Within the last month, I have noticed that it takes an incredibly long time to open attached files. Outlook "hangs" for up to 1 minute, and then the file opens. The same thing happens if I copy a file from one email to another.

Does anyone have an idea what is causing this. It is quite annoying

Conditional Formatting to New Outlook Calendar

Please bring Conditional Formatting to the New Outlook Calendar. This is a feature we have in Classic Outlook and something I use regularly to help maintain my organization. I've programmed it to color Work Time separate from Travel Time and various meeting categories so that visually I know a lot about the appointment just by the color.

Outlook for Android no longer grouping contact info...

I just started having an odd issue with all the contacts in the Outlook app on my Android phone...

For contacts that have multiple contact information (ie: a mobile number, house number, and or email address) listed, the app is breaking out the contacts as separate contacts.

Example: If I have James Kirk listed in my phone with a number of 555-111-1701 and an email address as jkirk@fakedomain, he no longer shows up on my phone as James Kirk; instead there are two contacts - one called 555-111-1701 and the other jkirk@fakedomain.

Contacts show up correctly in the Outlook desktop app and on the Outlook website.

If I modify or add contacts on the desktop app, the change is almost immediately reflected on the Outlook website.

Some of the troubleshooting I've done already:

Cleared the app cache from the Phone's settings

Reset the account from within the app

disabled/re-enabled contact synchronization

Modified a contact on the desktop app to see if they'd re-sync correctly - had no effect

Deleted the account (the contacts disappear when deleted, but come back janky when it's re-added)

Uninstalled and re-installed the app

Rebooted the phone (for good measure)

uninstalling and re-installing the app seemed to fix the problem initially. Right when i setup the app again all the contacts came back looking correct. It's been several hours since I did this and i just took a look at my contact list and it's all janky again.

It's not just a visual issue on the phone - it's affecting Contact synchronization with the phone's contact app, and everything else on the phone that relies on contacts.

Any idea what's going on and how to fix it for good?

TIA

Over the last 2 weeks or so, I have been receiving this message when I log into my email account. I haven't been logging in with the wrong information - I have been very careful. The message appears when I sign in via my lap-top and my mobile phone. I have even changed my password and cleared cache. It is causing me significant problems. What is the solution, other than waiting 24-48hrs for it to rectify itself? Thank you.

Will Microsoft ever provide a viable email client again?

I'm a long time user of Outlook - from long before it became Classic. It was a perfectly viable email client - not perfect but useable.

I tried New Outlook when it was first promoted, and quickly switched back because it was functional deficient at the time.

Since then, Microsoft have introduced issues into Classic Outlook - specifically:

It can't maintain a set Office theme. I can set a theme (the Microsoft default system setting) but it corrupts and highlights in black (for example) after a short while. (I believe after the PC switches off the screen or the PC sleeps)

It 'corrupts' while composing longer emails meaning that I cannot send or save the draft but must start again from scratch.

I tried new Outlook again - it's not as bad as it was - but:

It still doesn't allow me to present my email accounts in the order that I want to see them.

It doesn't manage Contacts and Contact Lists correctly - while Classic Outlook does.

So I now have my PC set-up to use both Classic and New Outlook and have to switch between them depending on what I need to do ... 🤷‍♂️😠

My requirements aren't trivial, but they are not that complicated:

I need to manage multiple email accounts - around 10 in all. I want to be able to present them in my 'most used' order - i.e. I want the ability to sort the order of accounts.

I have a Microsoft account that I use to log-in to my PC etc.

My default email account is Gmail

My default calendar account is Microsoft

I want a single default set of Contacts and Contacts lists that I can use in conjunction with any of my ten email accounts

I want my email client to be stable

Is that too much to ask? And why, oh why, can't Microsoft deliver such a solution?

Inserting tables and formatting in Outlook for web

Please could anyone help with the problem of inserting tables into an e-mail message in the web version of Outlook?

The previous workaround of converting the message to HTML has been removed by Microsoft.

Now the insert table is permanently greyed out (along with other formatting buttons) There does not seem to be any way of converting the message from plain text to HTML.

This is proving to be really frustrating, so any help from the community would be very much appreciated.

Working on a laptop running Windows 11.
