Why my external hard drive not showing up windows 11 file explorer?
This is a very weird issue. I bought an WD 2TB external hard drive and Windows 11 can't recognize this drive when connecting to the computer. It is a brand new drive and got from Amazon. So there should be no problem with the new hard drive. I am curious why Why my external hard drive is not showing up windows 11 file explorer. Is there any way to fix this? I need to backup the whole computer to this external hard drive. Regards, Fletcher7.3KViews0likes7CommentsSharing a Folder Issue
I have 4 computers and all share a folder off one of the machines. Recently power went out for a few hours and 2 of the coimputers stopped sharing the folder and kept popping up to enter the password. I did this to no avail. I have gone so far as to remove all passwords and tell the networking to allow people to access the shared folder without a password. Again it still pops up asking for a password. Here is what I have done Rebooted Removed all Passwords Made sure everything was on a private server Used CMD Prompt to make sure the account was unlocked Tried to share a completely different folder (same results) Rebooted the modem Made sure everything was updated. Tried resetting passwords to ones I know Checked Credentials and there was nothing there. Any help?27Views0likes2Comments- 150Views0likes2Comments
Windows Installer logging is not working on W11 25H2
Hello, I am trying to troubleshoot a failed GPO software deployment, the GPO log itself is not detailed enough, so I tried to enable the Windows Installer logging options as per this article: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/troubleshoot/windows-client/application-management/enable-windows-installer-logging I tried both the GPO approach and directly modifying the registry (even though the flags from the GPO were already populated there), but there are no msi*.log files created anywhere. For the GPO installations I expect the log files to be created from the system account, either in %windir%\Temp or somewhere under \%windir%\System32\config\systemprofile I though that maybe there is something preventing the GPO installations to create log files, perhaps since they are silent. According to the article: Each time that you use the Add or Remove Programs item in Control Panel, a new Msi*.log file is created. so I tested by removing a random program from a user session, expecting a file to be created in %temp%, but again, nothing. Is this feature broken, or am I missing something? Best regards Alexander8Views0likes0CommentsRobocopy wildcard ignores leading period
Hello, I came across this as I was making a custom procedure to sync our roaming folders (yes we still need them!), as this feature has been a bit shaky in W11. In the root of a user home, there's a few NTUSER-related files, NTUSER.DAT ntuser.dat.LOG1 ntuser.dat.LOG2 NTUSER.DAT{... and so on. Even though I think that it's best to leave all these files alone, while playing around with wildcards I noticed that it was impossible(?) to get /XF "ntuser.dat.*" to match only ntuser.dat.LOG1 and ntuser.dat.LOG2, it swallowed NTUSER.DAT as well. Only if I matched on /XF "ntuser.dat.L* did it leave NTUSER.DAT alone. Surely this is not intended behavior? Or does the dot have an undocumented function in relation to wildcards? After upgrading the device to Windows 11 24H2, intermittent lag occurs: when the mouse remains stationary for about two minutes, the system freezes for 1-2 seconds before resuming normal operation. Is there a solution for this?45Views0likes1CommentPIN reset in windows 11 after motherboard change

There is a Secure System process in Task Manager. When I click on it, it shows ntoskrnl, and it is classified as WINDOWS in all capital letters (others are usually in lowercase). Is this normal? I don't know if I'm overthinking it.33Views0likes1CommentWindows 11 secondhand laptop displays unfamiliar account name
Hello everyone, I purchased a used laptop and when attempting to change the login method from password to PIN, the system displayed an unfamiliar account name: DESKTOP-JUBIASH. Even after performing a factory reset, this name persists. Does this mean someone else could still access the device? How can I completely remove any potential permissions?9Views0likes0CommentsHow do I record my screen on Windows 11 with sound
I've recently upgraded to Windows 11 and I'm encountering some difficulties with a task that I think many of you might have experience with. Specifically, I'm trying to figure out how to record my screen on Windows 11 with sound. While I've found the built-in screen recording tool in Windows 11 to be quite straightforward for capturing video, I'm struggling to include audio in my recordings. I've done some basic troubleshooting like checking my microphone and system sound settings, but I haven't had much luck so far. It's crucial for my work to create high-quality screen recordings that include both the screen activity and the accompanying audio, so any advice, tips, or recommendations from this community would be greatly appreciated.726KViews0likes17CommentsWindows Time Is Not Automatically Synchronizing
I am experiencing an issue with my Windows 11 laptop where the time is not synchronizing automatically with any NTP time servers. I have attempted various NTP time servers, but the problem persists. However, when I navigate to Settings > Time & Language > Date & Time and manually click on "Sync Now," the synchronization is successful. The "Set the time automatically" toggle is enabled. Upon inspecting the Services section, I can see that the Windows Time service is active and set to Manual (Trigger Start) on both my laptop and other computers. Given that my laptop is consistently losing time, the automatic time synchronization feature is crucial for maintaining accurate timekeeping. Are there any other factors that could be hindering the automatic sync of Windows time?49KViews3likes9CommentsCan Windows 11 run on a Mechanical Hard drive
I would like some advice. I have 1ssd and 3 hard drives in my pc however it would seem that that the ssd is dying. It is only used to run windows and games that greatly benefit from running on a ssd. At the moment the only option for a replacement would be a 128gb ssd. Would it be better to get the 128gb ssd or should I just transfer my windows install to one of the hard drives and hope the ssd lives on to use for general storage33Views0likes2Comments
