Folder Access Denied
Using my copy of Windows 11 Pro My computer I have never set up any security. I want NO security on my computer. None. I am the administrator. If someone breaks into my house and accesses my computer, good for them. Trying to delete a folder on my D drive that I put on there. Windows says no, I need permission to perform this action. I require permission from "Everyone" to make changes to this folder. Again, it is MY folder on MY drive on MY computer on MY licensed copy of Windows. I literally put this folder onto my computer yesterday but now I can't remove it. Properties has no security tab. I went into regedit and checked the NoSecurityTab but its value is 0. I went into both powershell and cmd as administrator and added REG add HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer /v Nosecuritytab /t REG_DWORD /d 1 /f to no avail. I never removed the security tab. Why is it gone? And more importantly how can I remove MY folders from MY computer?? Certainly the frustration here is understandable.13Views0likes0CommentsUpadted 28 Oct. 2025 : Phone link disconnects W11 Pixel 6a version 16

I have 5 computers at home. One of them has 2 external SSD drives that I share with the other 4, no problem. I replaced a Surface Pro 6 with a new Surface Pro 11 and cannot see the shared drives. I have tried everything. I even had the new Pro 11 next to my Pro 8 and went through every screen to see what is different. Still cant see them. I dont have a lot of hair, but I am going to pull out whats left. Thanks for your brainiac replies :) norm22Views0likes0CommentsEdge Updates Keep Forcing Bing - Overriding User's Search Engine Choice
I need to bring attention to a serious issue that's affecting many Edge users: automatic updates are resetting our default search engine from Google (or other chosen providers) back to Bing without consent. What's happening: I deliberately set my default search engine to Google After Edge updates, my choice is silently overridden back to Bing This has happened multiple times now - it's not a one-time bug No notification, no consent dialog, no option to preserve my settings Why this matters: This isn't just annoying - it's about user autonomy and respect for our choices. When I configure my browser settings, I expect those preferences to persist. Silently changing them back feels like: A violation of user trust Anti-competitive behavior that leverages OS update mechanisms The opposite of "user-first" design Microsoft claims to embrace What should happen instead: Updates should preserve ALL user-configured settings If there's a technical reason settings can't persist, users should be notified and given a choice Microsoft should respect that users deliberately chose a different search engine I love many things about Edge, but this practice needs to stop. Users deserve control over their own browser configuration. Has anyone else experienced this? Is there an official response from Microsoft about why this keeps happening?16Views0likes0CommentsConnecting Windows 11 with Microsoft 365 for Better Workflow

I don't know what to do. I can't reformat this laptop. I have a piece of software on it that is the only copy I have, & only works because I was logged in when they got rid of it and forced everyone to go with the newer version I don't want. Not to mention it has all of my info on it in offline mode. 1. I didn't realize the update affected my external HD which has all of my files on it until I tried to play some music & it kept spinning. Then I started to get a popup saying it needs to be formatted. OMG. I plugged it into my desktop that has Win 7 on it & it also wants me to reformat it. WHY??? What did Windows do to it? 2. I had to restart my laptop 5 times before the Open shell would load & it takes forever to load. 3. It broke my Thunderbird, but now I know why my emails never loaded, it's because it can't get access to my external HD. I can't believe this. I don't know what to do & no, I don't have a thumb drive with the restore point thingy on it. I needed that, didn't I? But how would that fix the external HD?80Views0likes1CommentHow to fix 0x80190001 Microsoft login error on Windows 10?
I'm experiencing a frustrating issue with my Windows 10 device where I keep encountering the 0x80190001 error code when trying to log into my Microsoft account. Despite multiple attempts to sign in normally, the error persists, preventing me from accessing essential services and syncing my account properly.52Views0likes2Comments"Org Name" is showing in winver and can't activate Windows
I am facing a complex activation issue after performing a clean reinstall. My laptop originally ran Windows 10, was upgraded to Windows 11. I started facing an error saying I'm under some organization and Windows can't activate, whereas I'm not and I can't say if I clicked anything wrong when I created my first Microsoft account. I tried to check the problem by checking the winver by windows+r command and it shows my email which is registered for licensing and beneath that "Org Name" is shown. I tried to solve this problem by various ways like slmgr and registry edit commands but all of them went in vain. Then i reinstalled windows 10 pro, erasing all of my previous data of my laptop but it doesn't activate too. However, I am now completely blocked from activating using my valid Digital License linked to my Microsoft account. The Troubleshooter fails with a persistent Script Error (URLSearchParams is undefined) and a licensing error code 0x803F7001 (No License Found). The slui 4 Phone Activation command is also unresponsive, even after running deep DISM and SFC system repairs. I am unable to use the online activation path due to the script error, and the activation components appear to be severely corrupted. Can anyone help me?33Views0likes0CommentsBackup Nightmare
I have been fuming about this forever, but now its time for a rant!! I have HATED the Microsoft Win 11 "Backup" NAG, it NEVER shuts up, even though I always tell it to go away. I have a proper backup solution, so its extra annoying when I keep being nagged, for a pathetic attempt at backup (is it even a backup? or just a sync?) Anyway - as I say, I always say NO.. however, I have in the past said "continue", just to see what it doing.. and made sure ALL options are unticked (another very annoying thing is when you open, irrespective of last time making sure everything unticked, next time you open, they all ticked again... GGGRRRRrrr ) Anyway - recently I noticed when I went into settings, it said "partially backed up".... I thought WTH!!! whats happened there? So went to backup options and made sure all unticked... went into ondrive online to see if anything stored, didnt notice anything.. so was a mystery. Next day, I noticed OneDrive was on when I booted my machine (its disabled to start, so that was unexpected). SO exited.. Next day it again on at boot, and showing errors... I went in and noticed in the "Sync and Backup" section in the "Manage backup" a couple of the items were selected on... so unselected them and when prompted said "keep on my PC only" The errors (7) were all along the lines of you have items with same name already if you want keep them rename on PC and sysnc (I cant recall for sure... it poorly worded rubbish ). Having made selectins as detailed above.. I assumed I done.. I turned off OneDrive, disabled it from startup at boot again.. and thought I done. Today I noticed items in my "Pictures" folder had gone... could not find them online in OneDrive.. they just gone. I started up OneDrive, it still reported errors.. so went into OneDrive locally and it had 2 directories showing red x ... one of which was pictures/photos? I just deleted the 2 directories with red X and all errors in OneDrive disappeared.. so I shut down OneDrive Recovered the pictures from my REAL backup solution and came here to rant,. What the Actual hell are MS doing? its being totally arrogant to do what it does, its not transparent on what its actually doing and gives totally inadequate controls to the user. Comments?9Views0likes0Commentsinstall win 11 pro on a new machine that came with win 11 Home
I am buying a new laptop. It will come with Windows 11 Home. I have a Win 11 Pro key and a Win 11 ISO file on hand. How can I install pro on the new machine without going through the Home installation process that begins when I turn the new machine on. The only way I know how to do this is to use the Windows media creation tool - or Rufus - to make a bootable USB Windows installation drive. Is there an easier way? If not, I'm thinking that Rufus is the only way to use the ISO file I have to make a bootable USB. I think the media creation tool will either want to download Windows to create the bootable USB stick, or tell me to burn the ISO to a CD disk. Do I have that right? Thanks!32Views0likes2Comments
