Windows location service persistently reports weird incorrect location
Since approximately March-April 2026 My Windows 11 Pro x64 started reporting strange and incorrect location information to applications that request it, primarily web browsers. I'm located in San Francisco Bay Area, California, but every web site that relies on location information (Google Maps, Bing Maps, Starbucks etc.) stubbornly places me at location 44.97320223006452, -93.35278344048427 in Minneapolis (Golden Valley, MN to be precise) What is that location? And why has this started happening? My default location in Windows 11 settings is also specified correctly, i.e. it contains my correct address in California. However, this has no effect on the above strange behavior. The computer in question is a desktop with no WiFi capabilities, just an Ethernet connection. Another Windows 10 Pro x64 desktop computer on the same LAN (also Ethernet connection) has no such problems. Windows 10 on that machine is locating itself properly. Various "where am I" web sites that determine my location by my external IP address also work correctly even on the problematic Windows 11 computer, i.e. they correctly place me in California. However, everything that works through Windows Location on that machine places me in Minneapolis. What gives?29Views1like2CommentsBuild 26300 Activation fail..

Hello I would like to ask what could be possible suspects (faulty cmos/or psu, or my Bios needs some fixing) regarding the issues with my PC.... Everytime its turned off for a few hours, I have to press the power button for a couple of seconds (deep power cycling) in order to turn it on again. Initially my GPU gave out and I did some **bleep** to the Bios and tried to remove old GPU's drivers using the DDU... and after that Ive had problems with this like ghost boots and boot loops. We did some fixing like trying to reset the Bios to its default state and removing all of the installed games and anti cheat, but this new problem seems to keep happening.786Views0likes1Commentproblemes selection windows insider previews canary

Hi. I am looking for assistance with moving the Windows recovery partition to the end of hard drive. Currently, the recovery partition is positioned in the middle of the disk, and I need to relocate it to free up space for additional applications and data. I am unsure of the safest method to accomplish this without risking data loss or corrupting my system. If anyone has experience with this process or can recommend software that facilitates moving partitions, I would greatly appreciate your guidance.57KViews0likes10CommentsWindows PC start menu will not diisplay
It has been this way several days now. If I left click on the Start menu icon (lower left corner of screen) nothing happens! To shut down the PC, I must right click on the icon and select "Shut down and sign out". I have no access to the start menu programs. The only ones I can get to are on the Task Bar. I rely heavily on the mouse to run programs due to some neurological issues that make actually typing something onerous.55Views1like5CommentsWindows 11 Insider Preview Feature Update (26220.8544) Error de instalación: 0xc1900101

I'm experiencing Wi-Fi issues with my Windows 11 laptop where the connection keeps dropping randomly or is extremely slow at times, making it difficult to browse or stream content smoothly. I've tried restarting my router and laptop, but the problem persists, and I’m not sure if it's a driver problem, network settings, or something else entirely.33Views0likes1CommentMy Windows 11 Cannot connect to the internet

Hello Microsoft Community, I am writing to express my deep frustration with the latest mandatory Windows updates and the shocking incompetence of the tech support agent who handled my case. The update broke my system entirely—breaking the Start Menu, Settings, and messing up my screen reader (NVDA). When I reached out to tech support, the experience was a disaster: 1. The agent suggested creating a "Restore Point" while the system GUI was already completely corrupted and broken! 2. Worse, the agent didn't even know how to type a basic command in CMD, typing "Onlime" with an "M" instead of "Online" with an "N"! As a software developer, I had to fix Microsoft's mess myself using the "sfc /scannow" command, which successfully repaired the corrupt files after your support staff failed. Where are Satya Nadella's promises about accessibility when mandatory updates break our systems and support agents can't even spell basic CLI commands? Microsoft needs to respect its users and properly train its technical support staff. I have attached the screenshot as clear evidence of this incompetence.6Views0likes0CommentsInsider Preview Update Error and Unenrollment
For the past 3 days, I have have been informed that i have an Insider Preview Update to install. Each time it says, can't complete installation due to some files missing. Not to worry the message says, as it will try again at another time to download what I assume is those missing files. This is the 4th day, and same issues. I contacted Live chat support, and that agent couldn't help resolve the issues, and send me over here. I had to do a clean re-install, because an insider preview update screwed up my graphic so bad, I could not see anything on the screen, much less to log on. After the clean re-install, the system boot me back into the Insider Program, and so I tried un-enrolling, to no avail. I enrolled in this preview build version because I wanted to assist Microsoft with whatever it is that they were trying to improve with the user experience, but I regret it. I am trapped, with no way out of this problem. Anyone out there that can assist me escape this madness?36Views0likes3CommentsBiDi broke in Windows 11
After years of no-problem Arabic in both Windows 10 and 11, Arabic text is now being displayed left-to-right in command prompt, Windows PowerShell and PowerShell 7.6.2 (I've removed Windows Terminal to simplify things). In PowerShell ISE, in Konsole (windows .exe build) and all apps (Notepad, Office, Notepad ++, etc.) Arabic is displayed correctly right-to-left. In the Windows shells the letters are shaped and joined correctly but display left to right. . If I copy Arabic text from one of the misbehaving shells and paste it into a browser, Notepad, Konsole, etc. it displays correctly. I've tried changing fonts, changing code pages, checking registry entries and even an in-place reinstall of Windows, all to no avail. Anybody have any ideas?35Views0likes0Comments- 17Views0likes0Comments

Well, I find myself coming to the internet for help once again. Computer: OMEN 13 laptop with most recent Win 10 OS and upgraded SSD drive and memory. First time in owning it I've had a catastrophic software failure and I keep it relatively 'clean' and not with ten years of software piled up. I was finding the system to slowly be a little slow to boot up and it sometimes seemed to bog down under heavy use so I did some housecleaning with Glary and Revo and experimented with start-up sequences and programs. Something got glitched in that process and I tried undoing my work but matters seemed worse. I had created several restore spots as I installed and uninstalled and with the first restore action, the computer came back with an unsuccessful restore operation stating that a file was unable to be restored. So I tried different restore points and none would work - even the restore points that were made a week ago or before I messed things up. The reason was always the same HOWEVER the file was often different. So far these files were named something along the lines of "windowsapp.tmp.BAK" and they were in my "G" drive. This was strange since I recall my G drive being the one assigned to "Google Drive". I do not have a complete understanding how Restore works but I did use Revo Reg Cleaneron moderate and deep scan options and a lot of files that were deleted were ".tmp" and ".BAK" files. One other screw up I encountered that was semi self-induced was 'delayed launching' with Glary utilities. I tried seeing if many non-essential start-up programs would speed up boot times if I delayed their post boot launch. It did not. Problem arose those when several of the delayed entries somehow disappeared and even if I went into the program and deselected/reselected "run on windows start-up", they still would not start and I had now completely lost track of what those programs were. So I made matters worse by using a back up of my registry that was only a week old and importing it in its entirety into the registry, hoping that the missing startup entries would re-populate into the task manager start up or glary so I could record them and then restore my registry back to its current state. It worked BUT, the registry did not successfully restore to the current one I had just backed up stating that an entry or two was locked. I didn't think it was a big deal. I was wrong. When I rebooted, it went straight into a boot screen that said to put in my recovery disk. There was no option to troubleshoot or repair etc. Like I said, first time seeing this issue with this OMEN laptop. I have two other HP laptops I use for light duty /travel and when I have had issues with them, there always seemed to be a troubleshoot screen that I could access restore or other options without installing a USB recovery disk. So, I tried that option. First, I tried Hiron's Drive but didn't know what to do with it. Then I found a recovery drive I made when M$ warned us all to make recovery drives for when WIn 10 was no longer supported. That's where I am now. As I type this, I am going from restore point to the next and I keep getting the same error: windowsapp.tmp.BAK to the G: drive. So....the computer will not start in any capacity unless I hit F9 and change the boot order to a recovery USB. I get the usual options at this point and have been selecting system restore and going through each subsequentlky older restore points all with the same unsuccessful result. I DO have a Hiron's Boot USB but not sure what I can use from it since I don't know what is currently wrong with my laptop. The computer DID successfully this morning on it's own and I have a copy of the registry that I have access to if I use the Hiron's Boot drive to get into my laptop's drives. Buit, I don't know how or where to install it or if that's even possible. Is this an MBR issue? My next concern is why do none of my restore points work? Even if I did screw all of them up by erasing .tmp or BAK files using Revo, the restore point I created this morning immediately after boot up should still work I would think. This is where I need your advice. I really DO NOT want to reinstall windows. If memory serves, all installed programs are no longer installed and all settings are gone. Seems like too long a path to travel. I'd rather do a clean reinstall. I appreciate you taking the time to read this and would appreciate your advice just as much.
