How to exit Win11 Insider Preview Build 26220?
I accidentally joined the Windows Insider Program and opted out in Settings, but I'm not sure if it worked.
My desktop still shows the watermark: "Windows 11 Home Insider Preview Evaluation Copy. Build 26220.8764".
My question:
Will my system automatically become the official release after the evaluation expires?
If not, how can I return to the official version without losing personal files? Do I have to clean install?
If I stay on this build, will I ever receive official cumulative updates again (like future 26H1 updates)?

Exit from Insider Preview builds depends upon channel you're in.
If you're in Experimental or Experimental (Future Platforms) channel, you need to make clean install to switch to 25H2.
If you were in Beta or Release Preview channel, you can exit by turning On Unenroll this device when the next version of Windows releases option at Insider settings page.

Leaving the Insider Program stops future enrollment; it does not convert an installed Insider build into a retail build when the evaluation period ends. Do not wait for expiry as a migration method. Open Settings > Windows Update > Windows Insider Program and make sure the option to stop receiving preview builds is enabled. Then install the available Insider updates while you decide on the next step, so the current build remains supported.
A no-data-loss move is only possible if Microsoft offers a matching production release path from your current branch. Check Windows Update and winver after each restart; if a production build is offered, take a full backup first and follow that route. If stable Windows is needed immediately and no matching path is offered, the reliable method is to back up personal files, export the BitLocker recovery key and application settings, create official Windows 11 installation media, and perform a clean installation. A lower retail build normally cannot be installed in place over a newer Insider build.Build 26220.8764 is an Insider Preview, so opting out changes enrollment; it does not become retail, and expiration will not do so. Open Settings > Windows Update > Windows Insider Program > Stop getting preview builds and confirm “Unenroll this device when the next version of Windows releases” is enabled. If Microsoft designates a matching production build, Windows Update can move the PC onto production servicing without removing personal files. Until then, install Insider updates so the build does not expire. Do not assume 26H1 retail cumulative updates will apply while this preview branch remains installed. If stable Windows is needed immediately, back up files, the BitLocker recovery key, and app settings, then use Microsoft’s Windows 11 recovery or installation media. Moving to a lower stable build can require a clean installation, which removes apps and may erase data. Check winver and the Insider page after restarting to confirm status.
I have unexpectedly rolled back to Windows 11 Home Chinese Edition 25H2. Specifically, while checking for updates, I downloaded Windows 11 Home Chinese Edition 25H2 and it overwrote my existing installation. Does anyone know when 26H1 will be pushed to me?
