I went back to my Windows 11 PC after a month of not using it. Windows detected new updates so I let it do them. Then I've updated my AMD drivers. Now game is crashing every time on startup. I tried Delta Force and that game runs without any problems. I have new Steam Controller since yesterday but I don't think it is the issue. Game is crashing with our without controller connected. Edit: I did game files integrity check and I've tried running it in safe mode. It's still crashing.48Views0likes1CommentHow do I Setting Up Windows On A New PC

A Dell technician replaced my motherboard today. After the replacement, turning on the computer led to the BIOS being flashed. Upon rebooting, the lock screen appeared. After dismissing it, the logon screen shows my name, my Microsoft account with my picture and a message "Your PIN is no longer available due to a change to the security settings on this device. Click to set up your PIN again." There is an option to click on for Set up my PIN. When I click on this it goes back to the lock screen. When I go to rename a file and and hit F2, it automatically highlights the entire file name including extension. It changed only recently, because before, it used to highlight all EXCEPT the extension. I do not want the extension included for obvious reasons. We utilize the ClientName variable in our production environment, but we've had some inconsistent results in it's behavior. From what I understand, when using remoting technology such as RDP, windows creates a value in HKCU\Volatile Environment\<session ID> called 'CLIENTNAME' with the value being the remote device's computer name. Then, when software is launched, it reads from HKCU\Volatile Environment, HKCU\Environment, and HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Environment. Herein lies my dilemma. Occasionally, when our users log into their sessions (we utilize Omnissa Horizon VDI, using Horizon Blast) for the day, some of them (roughly 1-2%) will not have the Environment variable set for CLIENTNAME. This is validated by the 'set' command being ran in command prompt, with the results not showing the CLIENTNAME variable shown at all. When I check the registry, the value exists and is populated with the client device name. I then re-launch CMD and run the command again, to validate it is not a timing issue, and it still does not show. Then I restart explorer.exe using task manager. Once I do this, and re-launch CMD again, it shows when I run the set command. I could see maybe explorer caches some variables and it's referenced from there, but that thought falls apart when I continue testing. Once the variable is set and explorer is relaunched, I can make any changes to the registry key/value and it will reflect upon re-launching CMD, as expected. There are other variables in HKCU\Volatile Environment\<session ID> that also do not populate until explorer.exe is restarted. Is this a bug or am I misunderstanding how windows handles environment variables? Thank you.27Views0likes0CommentsWhat do you think of the Windows 11 April 2026 Update (KB5083631)?
I'm not sure if it's because the virus wasn't completely removed earlier or if there's another reason, but I've already tried five different antivirus programs and run multiple scans. Currently, File Explorer occasionally freezes when I open it.78Views0likes1Comment"Error selecting partition" when trying to reinstall Windows 11
I just bought a used gaming PC and installed a bigger SSD in the m.2 slot that I want to use as my main drive/Windows install location. I made a bootable USB drive and got this far. When I select the drive I want to use (specifically the "primary partition" - I didn't change any partitions), it gives me this message. I tried going into the BIOS settings and selecting this drive as Boot Option #1, but it didn't help. What am I doing wrong here? Don't know how much hardware info I can give but this is on an MSI board and a Ryzen 7 CPU.46Views0likes1Comment
