OneDrive affects Internet connection speed - everything is synced
Hi, on one computer in my household, OneDrive causes extreme internet connection slowness. The computer is running Windows 10, everything up to date. OneDrive says in the system tray that the sync is up to date and nothing is currently syncing. It is not causing any visible traffic in Task Manager. With OneDrive running and active, Speedtest.net reports a download speed of less than 5 Mbps, and surfing the internet becomes near impossible. When I pause OneDrive sync, Speedtest.net reports a download speed of over 100 Mbps. Turn OneDrive sync on again and the connection speed goes back to a crawl. It's repeatable and consistent. OneDrive sync is up to date, so it's not actually moving any data when the connection speed is slow. It appears to slow down the Mbps throughput for the whole internet connection for some reason. Any ideas what to do about that, other than constantly pausing OneDrive sync, so the internet is usable again? This is OneDrive Personal, as part of a M365 Family subscription.344Views0likes1Commentdate format in chat history
Hello, I live in a country where the date format is DMY. All my computer settings are New Zealand. All my browser settings and regional settings and date format settings are for New Zealand. My M365 account settings are for New Zealand. Despite all this, the copilot chat history shows the date stamps in the order mm/dd when it displays the chat history in Teams or the Work chat history in Edge. When I switch to the Web chat history, the date format is dd Month yyyy, which is much better. I find the mm/dd order confusing. What can I do to have it display in my preferred date format?227Views2likes1CommentCamera image does not fill allocated space
Hello, I run a Surfacebook 3, Windows 10, all up to date. I recently reset the laptop to factory settings and installed everything from scratch. Since then, the little window showing what my camera sees during a Teams call is not filling up all its allocated space. In the screenshot you can see a black area around it. When there is other content on the main screen, that area shows as transparent and has a white border around it. I have checked the team settings and everything looks ok. The camera shows me correctly in the big preview of the Devices settings screen. But when I'm on a call, the cut off version appears. How can I fix this?397Views0likes0CommentsIncremental migration with SPMT
Hello, I'm trying to find the setting for incremental migration in the Microsoft SharePoint Migration Tool. The documentation https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sharepointmigration/how-to-use-the-sharepoint-migration-tool says : Note If you wish to make changes to this setting, do so before your initial migration job is submitted. This setting is global; it will apply to all subsequent tasks you submit. When this setting is on, an incremental check of the SharePoint Online target environment will be performed. Files will be evaluated as follows: But WHERE can this setting be found when setting up the initial migration job?? It's not in the "All migration Settings" dialog.28KViews0likes5CommentsConvert Classic to Modern with O365 group - Hub navigation?
Hi, I have a number of site collections that are still running in classic experience. They use Managed Metadata Navigation, which is a pain to keep up for different site collections. If I turn each of these site collections into an O365 group, can these sites then be joined to a Hub and use the Hub navigation? Please don't send me to read articles about general info for converting sites. I've read them. I haven't found the answer to this specific question.690Views0likes1Commentkeep tenant name reserved after trial
Hello, I have set up a trial for one of our customers. They have decided to postpone their Office 365 project by a few months at least, so they don't want to turn the trial into a paid subscription yet. I've read some conflicting information about how long a tenant name is kept blocked after a trial expires. https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/msoffice/forum/all/getting-hold-of-an-onmicrosoft-domain-once-set-up/55c94c38-2be8-4382-978a-e4d99b384436?auth=1 The tenant name should have been blocked for others for 180 days, but during that time some other company was able to register a tenant with that name. Please don't tell me that the tenant name is not important, because it is. It features in the SharePoint URL and also keeping the tenant name as short as possible is important for file path limits. So, what can I do to reserve that tenant name after the trial has expired?1.4KViews0likes2CommentsNew Onedrive not showing SharePoint location
Hello, I'm using the new OneDrive and I have synced a SharePoint Online libray to my local drive. I can see the SharePoint folder and the document library as a sub folder in Windows Explorer. But when I open the Settings of the OneDrive client, only my OfB is listed on the accounts tab. The SharePoint library does not show. I have restarted my computer, but the issue persists. I want to stop syncing the SharePoint library. How can I do that if it does not show up in the list?14KViews0likes6CommentsBlank person object in document properties
Hello, I have a problem in one SharePoint library. I am removing a person from a people field with a SharePoint HTTP request action. In this particular library, the command results in a blank person object instead of an empty field. Using the exact same command in a different library results in a truly empty person field. The blank person object causes problems when the document is edited in Word, because it is not a valid entry in AD. I have never seen that before. I created a new person column and the weird behaviour also shows for the new column. I created another document library in the same site, and there, everything works fine. Any ideas? cross-posted in https://powerusers.microsoft.com/t5/Building-Flows/SharePoint-HTTP-request-creates-person-without-properties/m-p/1893837#M208528567Views0likes0CommentsRe: change time zone used by SharePoint Admin Center
As I said quite clearly in my question, I have set the default time zone for new sites to New Zealand. But that only applies to new sites, not to the Admin Centre. It's the Admin Centre time zone display that I want to adjust, not the SharePoint sites.4.5KViews1like1Commentchange time zone used by SharePoint Admin Center
How can I change the time zone that is used in the SharePoint Admin Centre? I live in New Zealand. All my local settings are for New Zealand. My browser regional and language settings are for New Zealand. My Office profile language and time zone settings are for New Zealand. All my clients are in New Zealand. I never, ever, need to see anything other than New Zealand time zones. I already have applied the setting that set New Zealand as the default time zone for new sites. But when I create a new site, the time stamp for the creation is showing UTC, not New Zealand time. I want to change THAT time stamp to display as New Zealand time. The sites in the screenshot below, were NOT created on the 5th July at 4:20 PM, they were created on the 6th July at 11:20 AM, and that I what I need to show in the view. -- And, if possible, change the date format from MDY to DMY, too. How can I do that?5KViews0likes10CommentsHow to give O365 group owners permissions in a different SharePoint site
Hi, I have an O365 group used for a project. It has a few owners and a couple dozen members. They use Files in SharePoint. Fine. On a different SharePoint site, I want to give updates to the whole company, so everyone is Visitor. In the SharePoint Site Members group I only want the owners of the above O365 group. I don't want to list them by name. If I use the group name, it grants access to all members of the group, I only want to give access to the owners. How can that be done?962Views0likes1CommentRe: How do you create separate shortcuts for different profiles?

Hello, This happened today. In a site joined to a hub, a site collection admin tried to activate the site navigation. Click on cog wheel icon > Change the look > only two options are showing, i.e. Theme and Header. Navigation and Footer are not showing in the list. This happened on her screen during a screen sharing session. So I went into the same site on a totally different computer, not even the computer with the teams meeting. I also could not see the two options. Several refreshes, Shift-Refresh, navigate away, navigate back, nothing helped. I finally unlinked the site from the hub. The options then showed. I linked it back to the hub and the options are now showing. Another site now shows the "Footer" option missing. This seems to be happening randomly. What is going on? How can I troubleshoot this?7.8KViews1like6CommentsDefault Paper Size
Hi, all my regional settings, all my SharePoint online settings, all my O365 tenant settings, everything is pointing to New Zealand. Nothing is set to US. The only nagging, totally annoying US convention that is persisting is that when new Word and Excel documents are created in a SharePoint (or Teams) document library, their paper size is still Letter, not A4. Nobody outside of North America uses Letter paper. I have never used it and I will never use it. How can I set a default paper size for my tenant or site, so I don't have to correct the paper size setting for each new document? People who are not aware of the paper size issue are creating and printing new documents, then discard the print because it doesn't fit on the A4 paper properly, then have to change the paper size and print again. That is costing a lot of money and is wasting a lot of trees. It might be possible to mess around with the Content Type and change the template file, but that is not sustainable in an environment of SharePoint and Teams self service, where everybody may create new document libraries at any time. There must be a global default setting for paper size, because the majority of people in this world use A4, not Letter. If we can set a tenant-wide default for time zone, please allow us to set a tenant-wide default for paper size. Please?Solved5.1KViews2likes7Comments
