Windows 11 Pro, my PC will wake itself back up when sleeping & start itself back up when shut down
This issue started about a year ago. It's annoying, as I am currently living offgrid and need to conserve power to my battery backups easily. I have tried replacing the GPU and the CPU. I have tried adjusting the power saving settings, but I don't know of any settings that are supposed to have this effect anyways aside from waking up for network, and it does this even if starlink is unplugged. Please help me go through troubleshooting steps.8Views0likes0CommentsWindows freezes if I try to access speech
I noticed this problem a few days ago after installng Dragon Pro 16 on my desktop computer that when I opened it the computer froze after a few seconds. Both the mouse and the keyboard were unresponsive so I had to switch the computer off and then on again. I had seen some problems with Dragon prior to the freezing so tried uninstalling and reinstalling it, and I also tried a repair, but this made no difference. Thinking this might be a Dragon problem I decided to try Windows Speech Recognition, but part way through the installation process the computer froze. I have also found that if I go into Settings and try to access the Sound options the computer freezes almost immediately as well. Usually within seconds. System File Checker and Check Disk do not find any problems with my computer. It was suggested that it might be a memory problem but removing both memory cards, one at a time, did not solve the problem. At the moment the only thing that I can think of trying is another clean reinstall, after formatting the C drive. As I did that recently I would prefer not to do it again. When I did that reinstall I was surprised to see a few shortcut icons on my desktop to programs which I had not reinstalled, and also the Documents and Pictures folders were mapped to my D:\ and F:\ drives respectivley. I had expected to have to remap these folders myself. If anyone has any suggestions as to how I might solve this problem I will be very grateful. Thanks for reading this.10Views0likes0CommentsAll Windows Troubleshooters will not open
Hi........ HP Laptop 15-dy2048ca (2L7J7UA) Windows 11 Home 25H2 OS Build 26200.8117 Intel® Core™ i5 processor Installed RAM 8.00 Gb First time here in a long time. Anyways, my problem is that none of the Window Troubleshooters will open or run. When I click the "Run" button I get two quick brief flashes from the touchpad cursor, but nothing happens. The original reason I had to use the troubleshooters is that I had trouble getting update KB5086672 -26200.8117 to install. But I was able to get the update to install after I ran an In-place Upgrade. I've tried a lot of suggested solutions, but nothing. as of yet. has brought the troubleshooters back to life. So far., in almost two days I have tried the following suggested solutions: Check Path for Temp Folder Restart Cryptographic Service Run SFC and DISM Scan Run Disk Cleanup Check Group Policy Try to run Troubleshooters in Clean Boot State Enable or Restart Required Services Flush the DNS Cache and Reset the Winsock Catalog Disable Third-Party Security Software and Firewalls Rename the Catroot2 and SoftwareDistribution Folders Modify TEMP and TMP Environment Variables Enable Troubleshooters in Group Policy Editor Performed an In-place Upgrade. Used a System Restore Point. Surely there must be a solution to this that works. Isn't there a download or a program where I can wipe out / delete the whole troublesome troubleshooters section and replace it with a troubleshoot section that works?59Views0likes3CommentsReliability monitor is blank for weeks
My reliability monitor is not showing any results whatsoever. While all the similar services such as event viewer and error reporting etc are active and automatically running. Reliability monitor is not showing any errors. I know that even if you don't have a critical issue it should at least show some things like failed services or install/uninstall reports. The system has no big issues and easy solutions like doing a sfc scan is not going to help my issue. All I remember is just using 'clean this log' command from event viewer once but I didn't make a significant change. I love this tool to troubleshoot problems every once in a while. So if you have any idea, feel free to share so I will try to enable it again properly.77Views1like5CommentsDNS-over-TLS on Windows 11: why does the DNS client negotiate TLS 1.2 instead of TLS 1.3?
Hi, We have configured DNS-over-TLS (DoT) on Windows 11 (latest version, 25H2) using: netsh dns add encryption server=<ip> dothost=<hostname> autoupgrade=yes After capturing and analyzing DNS traffic, we noticed that the DNS client always sends a TLS 1.2-only Client Hello, with no supported_versions extension offering TLS 1.3. This causes connection failures with DoT servers that require TLS 1.3. While researching this behavior, we found a Microsoft Q&A discussion mentioning that applications using the legacy SCHANNEL_CRED structure cannot negotiate TLS 1.3, while applications using the newer SCH_CREDENTIALS structure can. Could you confirm whether the Windows DNS client still uses SCHANNEL_CRED for DoT connections? If so, is there a plan to update it to SCH_CREDENTIALS to enable proper TLS 1.3 support? Thank you.5Views0likes0CommentsWhy Windows Should Adopt ReFS as a Bootable Filesystem
ReFS could become a bootable filesystem — it only needs a few missing layers. No need to copy NTFS, just implement what the Windows boot process requires. Key missing pieces: System‑level journaling (not only metadata) Full hardlink + extended attribute support EFS, ACLs, USN Journal for security + Windows Update Boot‑critical atomicity for safe system file updates Bootloader‑compatible APIs (BCD, BitLocker pre‑boot, WinRE, Secure Boot) Goals: Use NTFS as a reference map, add the missing capabilities to ReFS, and optimize them using ReFS features (copy‑on‑write, integrity streams, block cloning). Result: A modern, resilient filesystem that can finally boot Windows - without losing its benefits.65Views1like3CommentsWindows 11 Will turning off "Allow downloads from other PCs" speed up my internet?
I saw a TikTok saying turning off “Allow downloads from other PCs” in Windows 11 makes my internet faster. It sounded like low-quality AI advice, so I’m asking here to find out if it actually works.6Views0likes0CommentsWhat is the Best place for Windows 7 ISO download in 2025
I'm trying to find trustworthy sources for downloading a Windows 7 ISO in 2025, and I'm concerned about where to look. As support for Windows 7 has ended, I'm aware that finding a legitimate and safe Windows7 ISO download might be challenging. I'd like to ensure that the download is not only genuine but also free from malware or other risks. If anyone has experience or recommendations for reliable websites or platforms where I can obtain an ISO file for Windows 7, it would be greatly appreciated. I’m particularly interested in options that provide clear verification of the download’s authenticity, as I don't want to fall victim to scams or insecure downloads.I believe many others in the community might have similar concerns, so sharing any personal experiences or tips could benefit us all. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Update: I finally found a recommended tool that works fine for me called ISOMate7. <LINK to 3rd Party ISO Removed> It allows me to download different versions of Windows 7 ISO image files completely, the download speed is fast, and there are no ads or suspicious links! Hello everyone, I hope you’re all doing well! I’m looking for some help with casting my Android phone to my Windows 11 PC. I often use my phone for browsing and viewing videos, but I would love to mirror my screen or cast content directly to my computer for a better viewing experience. I've done some research but found the options overwhelming, and I want to make sure I’m using a reliable method. I’m open to both wired and wireless solutions to cast Android phone to PC, but I would prefer a straightforward approach that doesn’t involve too much technical jargon. I have a customized Windows 10 Pro setup on my current machine, and I'm interested in adding Windows 11 Pro on a different SSD drive while ensuring both operating systems can access a third SSD drive. For instance, I plan to use Windows 10 for photo editing with files on drive 3, and Windows 11 for video editing with the same drive 3 files. Is it possible to achieve this without encountering issues such as 'drive access denied' when accessing drive 3 from either Windows 10 or Windows 11? Additionally, do you have any other tips or recommendations for this setup? Thank you.194Views0likes2Comments
