How to color folders in OneDrive and File Explorer
Users are able now to see folder colors applied from OneDrive on the web in the OneDrive folder in File Explorer and manage folder colors in File Explorer by right clicking a folder name and then selecting OneDrive Folder color. #MicrosoftOneDrive #OneDrive #Microsoft365 #MPVbuzz5.8KViews2likes3CommentsSubfolders not staying on top in one particular OneDrive directory only (web based)
My boss and I both have Microsoft 365 for Business subscriptions. I access my OneDrive through Windows Explorer/File Manager, and I access his OneDrive online via Microsoft Online/Sharepoint (signed in as him). He accesses his OneDrive through Windows Explorer/File Manager on his PC. Everything works normally on his PC as far as how files and directories are displayed. Everything works normally when I access his OneDrive via MS Online, except for one particular subdirectory in his main directory for storing client files. Normally, with his OneDrive sorted Alphabetical Ascending, all of his subdirectories look like this, with sub-subdirectories on top in alphabetical order, and then files underneath in alphabetical order: But one of his subdirectories instead looks like this, with sub-subdirectories commingled with files, in alphabetical order: What on earth is going on, and is there some way to fix this? There's little point in having sub-subdirectories if I can't get them to display above the files, rather than being commingled. There are too many files and if I need to get to, for example, a sub-subdirectory called "Miscellaneous" it takes forever to scroll down to it. Can anyone help with this?44Views0likes2CommentsSyncing Minecraft Worlds to Onedrive
Hello I am trying to sync my Minecraft "saves" folder to Onedrive. It has all of my Minecraft worlds folders on it. I can upload a copy of it to Onedrive, but I am unsure if the data in the world folders updates automatically as I play in my worlds. Does the data in the world folders update as I play them? How to I sync the "saves" folder to Onedrive (it does not give me the option when I right click. For reference, the saves folder is located at: C:\Users\mixma\AppData\Roaming\.minecraft\saves4Views0likes0CommentsSave and close large files
I have a decent internet connection from my Windows 11 laptop - around 20 mbps upload, 70 mbps download and a ping time around 10 to 15 ms. Most of the files I work with in the OneDrive area of my laptop are under 10 MB and their mirroring to the cloud is fine. I also use files (mostly Excel or Word) bigger than that and they regularly do not mirror properly. If I save one of these larger files then close it a little while later, the file is synched properly and all is well. However if I just close one of these larger files (and am prompted to save it, to which I agree) I get one of a variety of error messages, ranging from saying that the server version has been edited to a message that I have to open the file and save it (or save-as) to synchronise things. The same happens if I use a save-and-close routine in VBA (Excel or Word). This is reproducible - it seems clear that if the "close" instruction follows too soon behind the "save" instruction, OneDrive can't and doesn't cope. This is annoying when I'm saving/closing the file "manually" then have to clean-up afterwards but I can do the "save, wait, close thing, and a real pain when I want to save and close from VBA when I don't have the option to wait between the save and the close instructions. Surely this isn't how OneDrive is supposed to function, or is there a workaround or something else that I am missing ?104Views1like5CommentsOne Drive Keeps Coming Back
So I recently updated to a new laptop. I completely resent that MS now defaults to everything going to OneDrive. I should be given a choice. I went through the laborious process of unsyncing, unlinking, and uninstalling OneDrive. It worked for the most part - except the Pictures Folder that was still pointing to a now unlinked Pictures folder. I managed to create my own Pictues folder and pin it. Fast forward to a couple of days ago. I wake up to my computer having been restarted due to an update. And lo - OneDrive is back and syncing again. I took a picture with my webcam and it automatically saved to OneDrive. I went in and unlinked the account again and I cannot understand why MS is so adamant that everything point to OneDrive. I should be allowed to back up what I wish to back up.92Views0likes3CommentsCan we 'turn off' new OneDrive shortcut naming convention due to causing long filename backup fail
Microsoft has changed the default OneDrive folder naming convention to now include 'SITE NAME' - 'FOLDER NAME'. In our case, we create a dedicated SharePoint 'Project' (Site) and a few 'Document Libraries' within the Site for each project. The 'Document Libraries' include different permissions for external sharing and differing user purpose. The recent change now means that all linked OneDrive folders include extremely long names similar to the following: We also back up Sharepoint and also individual user computers on an external Windows server. However, the Windows system only permits a maximum total file path name of 256 characters. In the example above the addition of the duplicate '- 10092 Traralgon HV Maintenance' has added 32 un-needed characters to all file paths on the Windows machine and we are seeing multiple backup failures of individual files as a result. This appears as a very short-sighted 'forced' change by Microsoft OneDrive which is in direct conflict with Microsoft Windows machines?? The short question is whether there is any way to turn off the automated addition. We can manually remove the extra text and OneDrive - SharePoint syncing continues to work perfectly. However, this manual change must be made on each machine for each project which is not a viable solution. Similar folder naming was addressed previously but in reverse: 'Add shortcut to OneDrive' no longer includes site name in shortcut - just library name | Microsoft Community Hub https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/answers/questions/5220424/why-does-add-shortcut-to-onedrive-library-change-t I'm surprised that there appears to be no other persons raising this as a concern which leads me to think that perhaps we are doing something unique or others simply haven't noticed the issue?? We have attempted to 'fix' the issue from within our Sharepoint 'flow' script (used to set up each project SITE), but without success. This folder naming appears driven by OneDrive, not SharePoint. Thanks in advance.Solved137Views1like3CommentsExcel: Desktop App correctly embeds images; web viewers like OneDrive often show them incorrectly.
Hi, I am facing issue with Image embedding using ExcelJS. When embedding images in a single Excel file from multiple source excel files, problems arise when the file is opened in online excel view like oneDrive site. While the same excel file with embedding images appear correctly In desktop view, they become overwritten across different sheets in the browser view, affecting the integrity of the data. But while exporting to PDF or using Print option on the excel browser view works fine with the exact images, issue exists only in the online web view fails. Details: Library used: ExcelJS 4.4.0 Image Format: PNG Embedding Method: addImage Method of worksheet using unique imageId Positioning: tl anchor point and extension Platform: share point online in Microsoft 365 Browser Affected: chrome, Firefox, Edge. Following things are tried from our end. Same issue persists in the incognito browser as well. Based on our business needs, our main priority is to view files in oneDrive or sharePoint site to make it shareable with teammates and clients in an ease manner. For better insights, I would like to share sample code for reference, Please feel free to test this using the shared file. https://1drv.ms/x/c/d398d8e103d503ce/EfVcgLiXM-5HnagfHF5AF98B-PTz112QtABXyRqGp8CSMQ?e=HNdsgD I have tried an approach to insert sheets of embedded images followed by set of text sheets. Then images are embedded correctly in excel online view, But if I try to order sheets, then the same embedding issue occurs. Samples files are https://1drv.ms/x/c/d398d8e103d503ce/EUVq-5QTzg9Oh3oqS5Rb0cIBUiKb0bI-3t7H_0cOKG_HYA?e=A5IryN and https://1drv.ms/x/c/d398d8e103d503ce/ER3-hNYm3btDkkkTXH2aMpgBEakvQSmJNAZ_0RZsBe7f4Q?e=of47kX. Expected behavior: The images should remain unique and correctly placed in their respective sheets while viewing from the Sharepoint or OneDrive site. The behavior should match that observed in the excel desktop application. Hope this gives better details to resolve the issue. It will be really helpful if we can get past this issue to ensure smooth data maintenance. Please let me know if there are any approaches to resolve it since our business needs require ordered sheets Thanks in advance.119Views0likes4CommentsHow to delete old OneDrive folder from computer

When I click the Open button on a .drawio file stored in SharePoint/OneDrive, I only get the screen shown in the screenshot below. It asks me to download the file, but does not give me an option to open it online. I would like to know: How can I open and edit .drawio files directly in SharePoint/OneDrive (without downloading them to my local computer)? Any guidance or best practices would be greatly appreciated.79Views0likes1CommentDate taken option removed!
I’m finding One Drive increasingly frustrating as a photographer as the date taken option has been removed and my files are badly muddled, this option was part of the app for years so why did the developer remove it. Very annoying for professional photo work so bring it back.61Views0likes1CommentMissing OneDrive options in classic context menu - Windows 11 24H2
HI A few days ago, OneDrive options have gone from the Context Menu (classic - I didn't go back to a new context menu). That happened on two computers OneDrive version 25.149 (I enabled preview as I thought it may solve the problem, the issue happened once I was on the production version) I found an old topic there with registry key deleting, but I don't have these keys. My menu looks that: No option for OneDrive - share, download, save on disk, previous version. OneDrive is set to files on demand. Is there any option to restore this option? Without resetting OneDrive/reinstalling it?573Views2likes5CommentsSharing Folders Issue
Hi I have been trying to get my head around things, and had a bit of help but now I am stuck. I'm involved with a charity and we use the cloud to share essential information with volunteers. Our previous system, which closed down, allowed us to share files / folders without people having an account. However when I tried to share a folder with one of my test email addresses, it wants me to create a microsoft account, with authenticator. Now while I fully understand the implications of security, the share is literally one folder which they can't edit anyway. Is there any way around this? It's going to cause grief and I believe will put people off. I just want to be able to share a folder that people can access via the link. Thank you for your help.100Views0likes2CommentsLocal Onedrive files won't open when away from Wifi
Why can't I open a Onedrive file that is saved to my Surface harddrive when I am away from WiFi. I literally opened the file up while I was with WiFi, so when I travelled to the non-WiFi location, the file would be available, or updated, or not be corrupted, or not do whatever crazy thing it does when it can't connect. Sadly I forgot to plug it in so it had to restart and did an update. When I tried to re-open the file that is literally on my harddrive, it said "Excel cannot open the file because the file format or the file extension is not valid". This is ridiculous, and not the only time it has happened. Even if my Onedrive sync is up to date, at times when I am away from WiFi, when trying to open a file I get the same report. To be safe, I have made a practice to open the files I need to ensure that they will be available when I am away from WiFi. If the files are on my computer drive, why can't I open them?? Please give a better solution then me hoping it is going to work every time I go out.78Views0likes1CommentOneDrive for Android: Camera Backup keeps uploading screenshots
Hi all, Every so often when I check OneDrive, I see my Android phone has uploaded screenshots as well as camera photos. In the Android app, when I check the Camera Backup setting, the "Back up device folders" has the setting "Camera, Screenshots" However, when I click that value, and go into the "Organise new backups in subfolders" list, the Screenshots folder is _not_ actually selected as one to be uploaded. If I turn the folder on, then off, OneDrive will temporarily not upload images from my Screenshot folder. But eventually, it decide that again it should do this. How do I make this behaviour stop permanently? P.1KViews2likes6CommentsAfter reinstallation OneDrive, the backup cannot be made due to another cloud service in Windows 11?
Hello everyone, I'm a Dutch Windows 11 user with the following problem: Since one of my Microsoft accounts has been disabled for private usage on my home pc I removed that account and it's folder from my local userprofile in Windows. Note: There was no other way removing it since I could not logon anymore. Even before that account was disabled the Explorer in Windows 11 is extremely slow. Taking about 30 seconds to open or browse files and folders. I found multiple people describing this issue on the internet. I tried running: "OneDrive.exe /reset" (as mentioned in the https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/reset-onedrive-34701e00-bf7b-42db-b960-84905399050c) to fix this problem with no result. I also tried running "wsreset.exe" (https://support.microsoft.com/nl-nl/office/onedrive-opnieuw-instellen-34701e00-bf7b-42db-b960-84905399050c?WT.mc_id=365AdminCSH_Smc) also with no result. At last I removed OneDrive from my pc. Deinstalling it, then rebooted my pc and reinstalled it. That resulted in the following (from Dutch translated) error: "Your Pictures folder in OneDrive can't be backed up because it contains other cloud storage. Disable cloud service syncing in this folder and try again." aakt van uw afbeeldingen-map in OneDrive omdat deze een andere cloudopslag bevat. Schakel de cloudservice synchronisatie in deze map uit en probeer het opnieuw". Since there seemed no way to remove the 'other' cloudservice. Hey I removed OneDrive to install it again. I decided to remove OneDrive agian from my pc by deinstalling it. After rebooting my pc I also removed all OneDrive foders from my %UserProfile% (I have a back-up on USB), then reinstalling OneDrive. You might guessed it, and yes your right I got the same error again! Apparently there is no supportpage on this error so I post it here. Maybe someone here knows it and can provide me with a solution? Thanks in advance! PS. I also have Apple's iCloud running on my pc, I also removed and reinstalled that program without problem thinking it might be the "other cloudservice" mentioned in the error. I use OneDrive for bussiness (School-Microsoft-account) this error I get is on my personal (non-bussiness) MS-account.75Views0likes1CommentWindows OneDrive folder and file properties
Hello I use Windows 10. All the files in the OneDrive folder has the green checkmark. 1. Are the files with the green checkmark both in a local OneDrive folder and in the OneDrive online cloud? 2. If I "Unlink this PC" - what happens to all the files with the green checkmark? They are kept in the OneDrive online cloud? They are deleted from the local OneDrive folder? 3. If I download a file from OneDrive online browser then the files "Modified" date is being updated - bad. If I copy a file from the OneDrive folder in Windows to another local folder, then the "Modified" date is unchaged - good. I have only tried this on the same computer. But what if there is 2 computers: Computer 1 copy file A to the Windows OneDrive folder. Computer 2 (another computer) copies file A from Windows OneDrive folder to another local folder - is the "Modified" date unchanged or updated? I know the "Created" and "Accessed" dates are being updated / new when copying file A. Thank you120Views0likes4CommentsSOS --HELP ON RECOVERING DESKTOP FILES WHICH VANISHED

Hello: I have several computers. On my first computer, when I open file explorer, it shows TWO separate instances of OneDrive, one personal and one for my company (See illustration).
