Files are mysteriously appearing in the wrong OneDrive folders
For some reason, files in my some of my OneDrive folders are appearing in others. In most cases, they are not moving over from their original folders. They are still in the original folders but also popping up elsewhere. When I try to open them, most won't open. When you try to open photos that have duplicated in another folder, you're told "this file doesn't have a preview we can show you" and Word documents won't open with the message "sorry, this document can't be opened for editing". But I have come across one instance where a photo in a folder is copied in the same folder but with a completely different name of another t file from another folder. that did open. What is going on?Solved220Views0likes3CommentsOneDrive Pinned Folders don't appear in Edge or Chrome but do appear in Brave
Within the last 2 weeks something has changed. Pinned folders no longer show up at the top of the page in OneDrive when using the Edge or Chrome browser. If you use Brave they do appear in OneDrive If you use Sharepoint they work in all browsers.Solved42Views0likes1CommentOneDrive Upload and Share Permissions
Hello...I have a user using OWA (University - Microsoft 365 A5 license) who is experiencing a new scenario/error msg., when initiating the "upload and share" option to share a locally stored file as an email attachment (gets uploaded by default to their OneDrive Attachments folder) when sending OWA email messages to colleagues. The email will send with the attachment icon/link, but recipients don't have access to it and have to choose the "request access" option, where then the user/sender can approve the request for access. The error msg., is "you don't have permission to give others access to file X" and the filename that is uploaded has red text (normally it is blue). The users has tested this scenario on multiple computers w/ multiple browsers, and changed the upload OneDrive folder location, with the same result. I can initiate the same scenario on the same computers, browsers, and files, while signed onto my OWA account w/ out issue. The user's Mailbox has a small quota size and their OneDrive account does as well. This started about two weeks ago, though as far as I know, no University Enterprise changes were made to the users account. Not sure what to look at for a solution so any help would be appreciated. My first post here was a tech question/bug description related to OneDrive API. The post immediately disappeared and I'm not sure if I should just try posting it again. My team is relatively new to using one drive. We are looking to migrate our files over to OneDrive to be able to collaboratively work on files however we cant seem to share one drive files directly from an outlook email e.g. via attach file. For addiitonal context our files are housed in an ms teams 'Files' section which I have then synced to my computer so these can be accessed through file explorer. However when I try to attach a file from an outlook email and choose a file in one of these synced folders it just downloads and attaches as a local file. I am aware you can use the 'browse web locations' under the attach files drop down however I then have to manually navigate through all the subfolders until I get to the target documents' location. Ideally I want to be able to pin onedrive folders to my quick access that I can use to reach the onedrive files and not download them as local files to attach. Any tips on sharing OneDrive files directly from outlook would be great.Solved287Views0likes2CommentsRemove 'desktop' links permanently
Hi All I already tried searching Google for it, but I can't find info on how to remove obsolete OneDrive icons from the desktop (Bureaublad). In this 'explorer' view I have in the tree the 3 working OneDrive folder links. However on the 'desktop' (Bureaublad) view I see old obsolete icons eg. 'CEAN B.V. (32 bits)'. When I right-click I get the option to delete (verwijderen) and it will be removed. It will however re-appear after refreshing the view. So how do I remove it permanently? Is it something in the Registry? If yes, where to look for it. I cannot find any settings in OneDrive itself. Thanks for any suggestion. With kind regards LudoSolved141Views0likes1CommentUrl encoded folder names not decoded on server end
When using the OneDrive API I am url encoding the file names so for example a file with a plus or hash symbol would get encoded the the percent symbol escape sequence. This works correctly for files and they are created on OneDrive with the correct characters. When I create a folder this does not work correctly. I encode the name in the same way but when the folder is created on OneDrive it still contains the percent symbol so it seems not to be decoding server side. Does anyone know how to fix this? Hi. So for the past few weeks I've had this banner at the top of word. Translates to: LOGON REQUIRED We can't upload or download your changes, as your saved identification information have expired. When I log in again it disappears for a moment, and then reappears. At first it didn't cause any trouble, but now my changes to my word documents are literally not being saved. Even with "Save on PC as standard on. I have tried logging out and in again, both on word and onedrive, and uninstalled onedrive and reinstalled it again. No luck.Solved398Views0likes2CommentsI denied a program access to my OneDrive files. How do I reverse that?

Every time I boot my Windows 10 Pro desktop computer, I get a OneDrive pop-up message that says "OneDrive is not signed in" and it cannot sync my OneDrive folders until I sign in. This started happening very recently and I'd never seen this problem until it started a couple of weeks ago. I have signed in to OneDrive after logging on to my computer, but the pop-up appears the next time the computer is booted. I have uninstalled and reinstalled OneDrive, but the problem remains. I have disconnected the computer from OneDrive and reconnected it to OneDrive, but the problem remains. I have checked all my OneDrive settings and cannot find anything that would cause this problem. I have a Windows 11 laptop which is signed into the same Microsoft account and it does not have this problem. I've run out of ideas! Can anyone help? Thanks.Solved2.7KViews0likes5CommentsExclude folder underneath Documents by policy
Hello my dear friends, I like to know if there is a way (intune, SCCM oder ADMX template) to exclude a subfolder of syncronized folder (Known folder move) named "Documents". The reason is, that there is a software deployed automatically to the computers and this software stores a lot of files with a lot of changes over the day to this folder underneath Documents and OneDrive is starting to hang oder starting to throw sync errors because of that. Now we need to exclude this folder for sync. Any help is appreciated PS: To install the software on hundrets of clients to another directory unfortunately is not an option, to get ahead of you 😉 😉Solved707Views2likes1CommentJust setup OneDrive, works great, but is there duplicate files on my C drive?
I setup one drive to help backup and sync my folders across workstations. I understand the icons, cloud, green checkmark-white background, white checkmark-green background. I see that that Documents links on the left side of the windows explorer screen are the same as the OneDrive(see image). After I let OneDrive sync up (around 30GB) of data, I noticed my hard drive got fuller. So I did some searching and see there are two separate "Documents" folder locations. From the picture you can see the left side window is from this location: C:\users\xxxxx\Documents\Inventor. There are no OneDrive status symbols like there are on the right side window. Are these file locations different? If I delete the data in the left side window location, will it affect the data in the other Documents location? Is it the same data? From the image you can also see that all my data is in the OneDrive documents folder, so I don't think it is the same data. I can't find the actual location of the quick links document folder to verify. Thanks!Solved11KViews1like1CommentExtremely slow sync for entire org
Starting last week, our entire organization has been experiencing an issue where OneDrive for Business is taking 5-15 hours to sync even simple, tiny text files. This is happening to all of our users, and I can replicate it 100% of the time. To reproduce the issue, open the local OneDrive folder (either an individual drive or a synced SharePoint document library) and create a text file. It will sit there and not sync for 5-15 hours. I have performed the OneDrive reset, unlinked the library, deleted the OneDrive registry hive, and uninstalled the application. After reinstalling and setting up the sync again (which pulls down files just fine), the upload sync still doesn’t work for hours. I have disconnected from the VPN, connected to my personal Comcast network, and connected to my personal Verizon hotspot network. I have disabled Cortex and uninstalled it. This issue even occurs on a brand new, freshly imaged machine. I went through a 2-hour call with Microsoft Support, showed them the problem existed, and the representative acknowledged it. He took a zip of the log files in my OneDrive folder and then vanished, never updating the ticket. Also, there are ZERO sync issue errors. It does eventually sync just fine, but it takes days for users who regularly use this function. I am 100% certain that this issue is on Microsoft’s side, but I can’t seem to get anywhere with them. They just keep having me redo the same steps and then go silent when I prove to them it’s not a local client issue.Solved1.2KViews0likes2CommentsHaving Trouble Installing OneDrive on Microsoft Surface Pro 9 with Microsoft SQ3 Processor
I have a Microsoft Surface Pro 9 with Microsoft SQ3 Processor with Windows 11 Pro (all Microsoft!). I wanted to install OneDrive in "Alluser" mode. I uninstalled the "Per User" Onedrive. I downloaded OneDrive here: https://support.microsoft.com/en-gb/office/choose-between-the-64-bit-32-bit-and-arm-version-of-onedrive-9d36d262-4fc2-4019-a8f6-314ef41a29d1 I downloaded the version for ARM 64. Then I ran the installer with the switch /allusers per this Microsoft document: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/sharepoint/per-machine-installation This is where the problems begin. "Unable to install 64-bit Onedrive. You can only install 32-bit OneDrive on ARM based devices. Do you want to download the correxct version of OneDrive for your device? I clicked "Yes". The dialog disappears, and nothing happens. NEXT ATTEMPT I downloaded the 32-bit version from the website above. File downloaded appears to be identical (same size to the byte). I ran it anyway. Same error message! NEXT ATTEMPT I tried to install it without any switch. Same error message. Out of ideas. How do I install OneDrive on this Microsoft Surface? By the way, I had zero problems running this installer on Intel processor based computers.Solved1KViews1like4CommentsOneDrive windows app stuck on "signing in" but works in Firefox
I have a windows 11 Dell G15 laptop, which has oneDrive app installed on it. It also has Google Chrome and Firefox Web browsers. I also have oneDrive android app on my Samsung S23. In the last few days, I noticed an issue with the oneDrive access on both devices when connected to my home Wi-Fi router. While I am connected to the home Wi-Fi network, both devices can connect to the internet and allow access to outlook emails, YouTube, etc. However, the oneDrive app does not work. It gets stuck at the "signing in". It also does not let me open the oneDrive website on Google chrome. Weirdly, I can open oneDrive on Firefox which is running on the same laptop where oneDrive windows app and google chrome are. The android oneDrive app also does not work and says "Make sure you are connected to the internet". I am 100% sure that both the devices are connected to the internet at the home Wi-Fi and it is only the oneDrive not working on phone and laptop. I do not understand how it works on firefox and not on google chrome and windows app. Yes, I have already cleared cache and completely reinstalled google chrome. I directly connected my laptop to the ethernet port, and everything started working again. However, the phone oneDrive did not work. I am not sure what is the problem and how I can fix it. I also factory-restored the TP-Link wifi router that I was using but have still not made any progress. Strangely, the same device and setup had been working fine till last week!Solved1.9KViews1like6CommentsStudent account storage update?
Since Monday, 2/19/2024, I have been receiving emails on Outlook regarding my OneDrive storage. This is a student OneDrive account, which should provide 1TB of cloud storage access for a lifetime. Have there been any updates to the policy that might have changed it to 100GB, or is this possibly just a glitch in the system?Solved1.6KViews2likes3CommentsWhat words cannot be used as file names in OneDrive?
This is regarding OneDrive Business (latest version) synchronizing with SharePoint Documents store. User created a folder named "FORMS" at the root of the store and received the message from OneDrive: "Item name is not allowed in cloud". Rename "FORMS" or remove it from your <site name> folder." (Screenshot attached) I confirmed there were no characters or spaces before or after the "FORMS" and retyped it a couple times to be certain. I changed it from "FORMS" to "FORMS_CLUB" and it resolved the problem. Where can I find a list of the words that OneDrive does not allow to be used in folder/file names? Thank you in advance!Solved1.5KViews0likes3CommentsOpen 'webUrl' to PDF file in Browser with Adobe Document Cloud instead of downloading it.
The graph API gives me a "webUrl" for each file. For PDF files it's something like https://[sharepointsite]-my.sharepoint.com/personal/[name_company]/Documents/[Folder]/Test/Testdokument.pdf And for Word files it's something like https://[sharepointsite]-my.sharepoint.com/personal/[name_company]/_layouts/15/Doc.aspx?sourcedoc=%7BC[cTag or eTAg??]%7D&file=Microsoft%20Word-Dokument%20(neu).docx&action=default&mobileredirect=true Text in brackets [] is annotated by me. PDF file link will download the PDF, the Word file link will open it in the Browser GUI. I'd like to create links so that the PDF file is opened in the Adobe Cloud UI in the Browser, same as when I open the PDF in OneDrive or Sharepoint.Solved628Views0likes1Comment
