Every day, we create and share more content than we can manage. From documents, images, meeting recordings, design drafts, spreadsheets, and photos that capture our lives. The real challenge isn’t just finding these files but turning them into momentum. That’s why OneDrive is designed to eliminate busy work, highlight what matters, and have your files work for you.
At today’s event, we showcased how AI is reshaping the way you work and relive your favorite moments. Whether you’re dealing with enterprise compliance or family photos, OneDrive now delivers personalized intelligence to every file. It's always on and ready with speed and reliability front and center, built for seamless team flow and collaboration, and there to rediscover your favorite memories, no matter your role or need.
Let’s take a closer look at how you can get the most out of your new OneDrive experience.
Personalized intelligence: Let Copilot handle the busy work
We recently announced Knowledge Agent in SharePoint, which enriches content, automates processes, and readies knowledge for Copilot. Now, building on these intelligent capabilities, OneDrive is also streamlining how you interact with your files with the floating Copilot icon.
Now rolling out for Copilot licensed users, the familiar Copilot icon is now built directly into your OneDrive experience, right next to your important files and ready for action with a single click.
New Copilot icon in OneDrive for Web experienceWays to use the Copilot icon:
- Summarize content: Select any document, presentation, PDF, or image and click the Copilot icon and get instant insights you can take action on.
- New-Meeting recordings: Instantly recap sessions and spotlight your mentions for easy follow-up
- New-Whiteboard images: Extract and interpret key details from images
- Get answers fast: Ask Copilot questions about your files, like “What are the main action items in this deck?” or “Show me changes from this document since the last version.”
- Compare versions: Copilot can highlight differences between file versions, making reviews and approvals faster.
- Audio overviews: Choose either executive or podcast-style summary, and Copilot will create an audio file with key insights from your document, perfect for catching up on the go whether you’re in the OneDrive mobile app or on OneDrive for Web.
Example for using Copilot in OneDrive:

Built for team flow-Share & collaborate with confidence
OneDrive is at the heart of Microsoft 365 for sharing and collaboration. In today’s modern work place, confidence and control over what is shared, accessed and reasoned through by Copilot is essential.
Your “hero” has arrived:
After a decade of feedback and innovation, the biggest update to sharing in Microsoft 365 is here-the hero link!
Hero linkThe hero link simplifies sharing with a single, primary link that governs access, identical to the address bar URL. You can update permissions (e.g., expand to your org) without changing the link. And before you share, Copilot can generate a quick summary, so recipients open with context. It’s simple, predictable, and built to reduce “access denied” moments.
Example using the hero link:
Your marketing team is preparing for a major product launch, relying on a shared folder filled with essential assets. With the hero link, you create a single, permanent URL that everyone uses to access the folder, adjusting permissions as needed without having to resend links or worry about outdated versions. With the help of Copilot your team gets a brief summary of what's shared, so everyone opens it with instant context of the content.
Continuity without complexity:
- Bulk transfer: Seamless transitions are essential for team momentum. When a team member changes roles or leaves the organization, bulk transfer lets you shift their OneDrive content to the right owner in just a few clicks, keeping projects moving without the scavenger hunt.
- M365 Archive: For oversized or aging content, Microsoft 365 Archive offers a simple archiving solution to declutter workspaces, reduce costs, and keep legacy content discoverable without cluttering everyday Copilot results.
Governance at Scale:
- The Sync Health Dashboard: Visibility and control are at the heart of effective collaboration. The Sync Health Dashboard in the Microsoft 365 Apps Admin Center provides an executive view across devices. With Microsoft Graph Data Connect, you can export telemetry to build custom reports and alerts in Power BI or Excel.
- Copilot in the SharePoint Admin Center: Copilot in the SharePoint Admin Center helps administrators efficiently manage sites, content, and user access. AI insights allow for quick resource location, automated tasks, and instant answers to site management questions.
Actions to try:
- Use the Sync Health Dashboard in the Microsoft 365 Apps Admin Center to monitor device sync status and export telemetry for custom reports and proactive alerts.
- Leverage Copilot in the SharePoint Admin Center for efficient site, content, and user management with AI-powered insights and automated tasks.
