Microsoft Teams Direct routing and external contacts
When external contacts are added or synced they are shown as telephone numbers instead of the name associated with it. Amongst others this is the case under quick dial. If you go to recent calls it's shown as the name. Tested on an xcover totally locked down, teams in a work profile on another android device. This is not the case on an iPhone SE 3 with company portal with teams. There under quick dials and contacts it's shown as the name of the external contacts. As you might imagine this is going to pose quite the hassle to our users that have to call with non organisation external contacts. Please advice :-)3Views0likes0CommentsMicrosoft Teams
I wanted to know if anyone has seen an issue with Teams, where Teams opens up and says it needs to update and when I click on the update button and download the .exe and run it, just keeps in loop. I then looked on the pc and noticed that there are two Teams, one is an App which works and the other one just says Teams and when you click on that one, it prompts for the update.ClevelandDec 12, 2024Copper Contributor65Views0likes0CommentsControlling emails to channel
Hello, We have an RMM that emails a Teams channel when a server is offline. What they've started doing though is emailing again when it's back online. Is there a way to filter emails out that start with 'RE:' that go to the Teams channel? As the email isn't routed through our Exchange, the mail rules wont apply. Think of information such as: - Fixed bugs - New features - Enhancements For example, MSTeams client version 49/24110115722 has just been released/rolled out in my organization. I'd like to know what is new in this version, to get more insight especially in the new / enhanced features to use.pastaliefhebberDec 12, 2024Brass Contributor36Views1like1CommentWorkflow-webhook not tied to user
Hello! We are developing applications in AWS (sorry, guys), and some workloads require posting to Teams channels using webhooks via Workflows (the new webhook way). We are also using webhooks to notify in Teams when Github actions finish or need interactions. However, when creating the webhook in Workflows it only seems possible to tie the webhook to a regular user. Are there any ways to use a Service Account / Service principal as the webhook/workflow owner? Using a regular user account as the webhook owner is a major drawback, eg. the need to rewrite all webhooks if the user quits the company and is disabled in Entra ID. I want to associate a nickname with a person in my organization, whose employee records live in Entra ID. To do this, I went into Outlook desktop (1.2024.1204.300), did a search for the person, and selected "Add to contacts". From there, I modified the newly created contact record's first name from, for example, "Margaret" to "Margaret (Peggy)". I also deleted the company and title fields that got auto-populated because I don't want to overwrite these values from whatever they might change to in the future. The only fields I should need are email address (which I expect it needs as the "key" to match my contact record to the person's underlying record in the organization) and the fields I want to overwrite, in this case first name. From here, I'd expect interactions with this user to show their updated name for me. It doesn't. Nothing works as expected. If I start a new email and type "peggy" into the "To" field, nothing comes up. If I type "margaret", she appears in the results without my name modification. Similarly, while in the Mail section of Outlook, if I do a search for "peggy", I get no results, even if I filter on People. However, in the People section of Outlook, if I do a search for "peggy", she does come up. So even within Outlook itself, there's a total disconnect between how Mail and People honor my contacts info. In Teams desktop (24295.605.3225.8804.), it's even worse, with there being no trace whatsoever of the contact's updated name. In the People section, "All contacts" shows nothing at all. I've manually clicked Mail > View > Sync in Outlook. I've tried manually closing both Outlook and Teams. I've waited 30 minutes. I've even confirmed via outlook.office.com that my contact is there and that the "new contacts" settings is on, but actually seeing the updated name when writing an email or sending a Teams chat isn't working at all. None of these time-consuming and frustrating steps should be necessary to begin with, but even then, it's all broken. Is this not a supported feature in M365?jstamm-intechDec 11, 2024Copper Contributor22Views0likes0CommentsBest Practice for Student Accounts
Hello, I am trying to find information on best practices for student accounts for underage students. My organization is in Higher Education and uses Teams for staff, faculty, as well as students over eighteen. In addition, we run some outreach programs for students that are not enrolled at the school, who are considered minors. We would like to use Teams to allow our staff to coordinate program activities with these students, but at the same time prevent the students from interacting with "regular" students (over eighteen) as well as staff, faculty, etc. Is there a standard profile to setup for these types of accounts? Any help getting this properly setup would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.Dave123_Dec 11, 2024Copper Contributor11Views0likes0Commentshow to get keyboard focus while not be activated

Many users, including myself, have encountered persistent issues using Bluetooth headsets with Microsoft Teams, particularly in the desktop app. Common problems include: Audio Output Problems: Low audio quality or no audio at all. Microphone Issues: The microphone does not function consistently or at all. Connection Drops: Devices disconnect unexpectedly during or after breakout sessions. Specific Trigger Points: These issues are often limited to Teams and do not occur in other applications. Notable Observations: Disabling the "Handsfree Telephony" service on the headset in Windows resolves many of these problems but renders the headset as a simple audio output device, necessitating an external microphone. The issues seem prevalent across various brands (e.g., Jabra, Poly Voyager, Sony, Bose) These issues are frustrating, especially since they are less frequent in other apps like Zoom or on the Teams web app. It seems related to how Teams interacts with Bluetooth profiles (A2DP vs. HFP) and prioritizes them during meetings. Action for the Community: To help Microsoft prioritize this issue, I’ve submitted detailed feedback on the Microsoft Teams Feedback Portal. If you’re experiencing similar problems, I encourage you to upvote and comment on the feedback to bring more visibility to this matter. Hello Community, I have developed a chatbot application where I manage chat history using session-based storage. The chatbot works seamlessly on the web application, maintaining session-specific chat histories accurately. This functionality relies on properly handling cookies to preserve session IDs across user interactions. However, when I integrated this web application into Microsoft Teams as a custom app, I noticed a significant issue. Microsoft Teams does not seem to handle the session in the same way as a browser does. For every new input/query, Teams generates a new session, which results in the chatbot losing the chat history and treating each input as an independent session. This behavior is unexpected since the web app works flawlessly in maintaining session-based chat histories when accessed directly via a browser. Here are some additional details: The application is built using Flask, with sessions stored on the filesystem . Cookies are being used to maintain session IDs on the web application, and these are functioning as expected when tested locally or in a browser environment. Teams integration is done by embedding the app’s URL into the Teams app configuration. Query: Does Microsoft Teams handle cookies or session management differently compared to standard web browsers? If yes, what is the best way to maintain consistent session management and chat history when the app is running within Microsoft Teams? Are there any Teams-specific settings or APIs that need to be configured to support persistent session handling for embedded web apps? I would appreciate any insights or guidance on resolving this issue to ensure that the chatbot retains its session-based chat history within Microsoft Teams. Thank you in advance for your help!
