Files shared with Anyone sometimes prompt users to request acccess to the file
My company is experiencing an intermittent problem where sometimes a OneDrive for Business file shared with the setting "Anyone with this link can edit" prompts the user the file is being shared with to request access. If the user tries to open the file a second time, they can then access the file without requesting access. We're wondering why that access request prompt sometimes happens and how to prevent it. It doesn't happen consistently, so we're having trouble reproducing and troubleshooting it. Has anyone seen this before and know how to fix it?
OneDrive file blue in progress icon meaning?
I uploaded some videos to my OneDrive Photos section, but they don't show up under Photos. It shows up under Files -> Photos with a blue in progress icon next to it. This didn't happen a month ago, and I couldn't figure out what the icon meant. At first, I thought it was syncing, but it's been 11 hours, and it's still there. Any ideas? thanks
OneDrive “Share” window stuck loading from File Explorer (works on web)
Description: Hi all, I'm experiencing an issue with OneDrive where the "Share" option from Windows File Explorer gets stuck indefinitely loading (blank window with spinner). Details: The issue occurs only when using right-click → Share from File Explorer Sharing works correctly from OneDrive web interface Issue is affecting multiple users in the same environment OneDrive sync itself is working normally Troubleshooting already performed: Reinstalled OneDrive completely (clean install) Cleared local cache and removed residual folders Reinstalled Microsoft Edge WebView2 Runtime (Evergreen x64) Cleared Windows Credential Manager entries Reconnected Work/School account (WAM reset) Tested on different networks (including mobile hotspot) Windows fully updated Environment: Windows 11 (corporate environment) Microsoft 365 / OneDrive for Business Observation: The issue seems isolated to the File Explorer integration (possibly WebView2 or WAM-related), since web sharing works fine. Has anyone experienced this behavior recently or is there any known issue with the OneDrive Explorer integration? Thanks in advance.
Lost all Onedrive files
I manage my Onedrive files primarily on my desktop and when I went into my computer today I couldn’t access any file because they all had the red X sync error. Then I went into the web to access them and they were all gone. I checked the recycle bin and restore and nothing was there. Any idea what happened and how I can get my files back? I have multiple accounts (two for work and one personal) and this was my personal account. My work is doing updates on my work laptop this week and my concern is somehow they deleted all my personal files.
OneDrive personal account not signing in 0x800704cf
OneDrive app (Windows 11) personal account has stopped working. Stuck on signing in. After unlinking PC and attempting to sign in again as part of troubleshooting it comes up with a message about not being connected to the internet. 0x800704cf. But the sign in works on a business account on the same PC. Does anyone have a fix? reproducible bug in the OneDrive web search results Summary: the "Location" column systematically displays "My Files" for folders, regardless of their actual location in the directory tree. This does not affect files — files correctly display their real path in the same column. Expected behavior: The "Location" column should display the actual parent path of the folder (e.g. My Files > Subfolder A > Subfolder B ...). Actual behavior: The "Location" column displays "My Files" for every folder result, regardless of where the folder actually sits in the hierarchy. Note: The same search correctly shows the real path for files inside those same folders. The issue is exclusive to folder-type results. Environment: Account type: Personal Reproducible: Yes, 100% consistently Impact: This makes it impossible to disambiguate between folders with the same name located in different parts of the tree when using search. I have an S24 ultra with pictures dating back to 2001 till the current day. I have thousands of family photos that I was able to gather and organize, and wanted them to be synced with OneDrive so I can access them on my PC and my phone. I decided to get OneDrive to be able to upload ALL of my gallery to OneDrive however, I noticed that around 80% of everything getting uploaded has its dates changed to the time it was uploaded, while a handful remains accurate. I made sure it wasn't the way I was viewing the folder and files, and checked the properties/info of the files and saw that all the dates and data were changed. Is there any way to fix this or prevent this from happening?Files are gone, folderstructure is there
Dear community, I have a one drive account with a extensive folder structure. Today I noticed that the folderstructure is intact (on my laptop and online) but the files are mostly gone for 90%, here and there a folder with some files. My account is a personal 356, have 1 terrabyte. I tried to restore the drive through the instructions I found online by Microsoft, go to settings, one drive restore, check recycle bin, etcetera. Nothing helped. I did not deleted the files manually. I honestly do not know what to do? Tried to get in contact with Microsoft but that is totally impossible. Is there anyone that has expirienced this also? I use onedrive now for many years and never had this. Please help
Unable to @ mention external collaborators in comments within Office online files
Is anyone aware of whether Microsoft will someday enable the ability to @ mention users who do not belong to the M365 tenant within comments in Office online files? I've attached a screenshot of what this looks like in a Word Online file in OneDrive. There are a number of Microsoft feedback posts about this, but it really feels like an unnecessary gap in functionality. Anyone have any insights on roadmap?
Files not accessible on OneDrive app
My files are not corrupted - if I download them form browser site of onedrive, they can be opened without issues. Nevertheless, my pc folder synced by the OneDrive app, which worked fine until today, became problematic. PDF files show an "access denied" message. The reason for asking this question is existing discussions on the subject seem to provide contradictory information. Can I include a folder (i.e., D:\Finances\Taxes\TY 2024) on the USB external drive D: and all subfolders to the default OneDrive folders under C:\Users\nagdt\OneDrive so it will be backed up just like the default OneDrive folders, and if so, how? FYI... When I go to OneDrive Settings -> Sync and backup -> Back up important PC folders to OneDrive -> Manage Backup, I am not offered an option to add a folder in addition to the five primary default folders except for those folders under the five primary default folders. I have read some old posts about this but can't find the solution or workaround. I use a windows laptop with windows 11 - up to date firmware and drivers. I am a crafter and save all the designs on onedrive, the majority come with a transparent background for building up designs. when i'm looking at the images in the software packages I use eg. affinity designer, design space, gimp, inkscape, infanview, they have black backgrounds but when opened they have a transparent background. I also have the same when viewing files using windows explorer. I've tried all the "fixes" that I've seen online but nothing has worked. Please can someone save my sanity and point me in the right direction.
OneDrive stuck on "signing in"
Hi, I'm trying to use Onedrive and Onenote, but it seems to be really terrible 50% of the time. Sometimes when I log on my pc, it says I have to log in, and in doing so, is stuck on a "signing in" loop, until it says some error code about me not having an internet connection. Here's what I've tried: 1. Close and open Onedrive 2. Removing auth from the pc and adding it again 3. Reinstalling Onedrive 4. Change Wi-Fi 5. Do a /reset in Windows run AND cmd 6. Update drivers 7. Install the newest Onedrive from the website 8. Try the app-version found in Windows Store What am I supposed to do? I don't want to restart my pc every time it doesn't work, that's a terrible fix.
Unable to restore one drive personal vault file
Im trying to restore my onedrive file that I did not even deleted from personal vault I simply renamed it and somehow it got auto deleted now when Im trying to restore the file Im unable to restore it. You can in right panel it is "Waiting" indefinitely Please help I need these files urgently. ASAP.Account hacked - no real help anywhere
6h ago my account got hacked by some twerp from Russia. I wasn't quick enough to stop him as he changed my email, alt email, password, removed passkeys, 2FA and whatever else. Even clicking the "this is not me" on the recent sessions didn't do anything. Only one mail was given and that was the one that prompted me that something was wrong (had to check for phising too so lost precious seconds). I got logged out of my account completely and have been doing the same back and forth with microsoft "support" for the past hours. After filling in the Account Escalation form I get a mail stating that all is lost and that i pretty much need to suck it up. 1TB of files (also important ones) just gone? The support chat tells me to keep filling in the form and sending proof that i'm the owner to the email adress given but no reply has come. I need to get in contact with someone who can actually help in order to get my account back. None of the stuff works, the online forms loop me, I can't send codes cuz everything goes to the hackers account. Why can someone from Russia just login on my account and within 3 minutes change everything and there's NOTHING i can do about it? Why isn't anyone truly helping to get my files and account back - cuz everything connected to that account is of course gone too. Posting this from this account since the other one... is unusable for above reasons. I need help, I need all my files back.
