OneDrive Taking up space on C: even when nothing is being kept on device.

Recently got a new device and had all my files on the previous device synced to my OneDrive. The C drive has about 120 GB of my data (including OS) but when I check my Disk space, I only have 5GB remaining out of 256. However, OneDrive seems to be taking about 150 GB  on the disk even though all the files have the cloud icons on it.

Try going into the OneDrive Settings > Sync and Backup > Advanced Settings > Free up disk space.

Keep your files freed up by going to Windows Start > type Storage Sense.  Turn on Storage Sense, then tap it to open the Storage Sense settings.  Scroll down and set when you want files to become cloud files once again.

Could you please try the “Free up space” option? This will remove files from your device while keeping them safely stored in OneDrive, so you can still access them when needed.

    To do this:
Go to OneDrive, then right-click on the OneDrive folder or the files/folders, and select “Free up space.”

Hi, Thank you for the reply. I Selected the entire OneDrive and did "Free up space". This has only reduced the storage taken by 2 GB. OneDrive is still somehow taking a whole 160 GB of my C drive

I don't see how OneDrive could take up space with Files On-Demand fully implemented.  Have you tried what I suggested?
