Onedrive sync
Hi, I need to move about 30gb worth of files from an on prem file server in to sharepoint, and allow staff to sync those files via onedrive client. (Add shortcut to onedrive option) - But, there is a LOT of files with the same names, but in different directories, Is this going to cause issues when onedrive attemps to synchronize the SharePoint library? Thanks in advance Dave137Views1like0CommentsSharePoint support fob off?
Hi We have a user base that in office 365 that uses Microsoft Business standard license's. I am having trouble with SharePoint were i need logs from a SharePoint site but ive been told by Microsoft that this isnt possible and i need to purchase Microsoft Unified support or premier support? The issue is we are migrating all of our department data from on premise in to SharePoint. I have already done HR, Finance, And training Departments. Each is its own SharePoint site. We started having an issue with file duplications on the training SharePoint site, where there would be a document that had its file name plus the computer name for example "attendee-report - 2021-03-29T150508.250-PET-RLILLEY21-PET-RLILLEY21-PET-RLILLEY21-PET-RLILLEY21-PET-RLILLEY21-PET-RLILLEY21-PET-RLILLEY21-PET-RLILLEY21-PET-RLILLEY21" which along side the file path was over 400 characters long. This meant that all staff who have this site synchronized with their OneDrive could no longer synchronize the directory. So i had to unlink the SharePoint site, and reset there OneDrive cache on each computer after removing all the duplicates from SharePoint. Now looking at the "details" of the file in SharePoint it said that i had created the files!? Which was impossible because i didnt have that site synchronized with my OneDrive client. And also my computer name is "PET-DWILL-23" so if i had created them surly the name wouldnt be PERLILLY21" I have no need to because i work in the I.T Department and the SharePoint site in question is Training. I then removed all access that i had to that SharePoint site, so that it was impossible to happen again. But it did. and i had to go through the whole process of removing the duplicates again, unlinking the SharePoint site, and resetting OneDrive cache. So i then asked Microsoft for some support. I said i needed to find out where the duplicates were coming from, how i could prevent this from happening again, and if there was a way i could check the entire SharePoint site for any further duplicates. And what i got back was this "Hi David, Good day, thank you for your email and sorry for the late reply, due to the time zone difference. Ok I see, if I clearly understand the files duplicating with the computer name , to fix the issue duplicate files with computer name, please follow the steps in the article below: https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/msoffice/forum/all/onedrive-for-businesssharepoint-online-duplicate/c0d048b8-b326-455c-857e-4c5a96b120a9. " I explained this was not what i needed, and after a lot of back and forth that felt like i was speaking to a first liner on their first day i eventually got: ". Ok regarding this concern, I understood that you removed the duplicate files and want to know why this happened. Kindly be aware that as frontline engineer, we do not provide root cause, as it's only supported by premier support. However, if the issue persists, please help follow the steps below to capture fiddler and provide the logs to check from our side and help resolve it:" Is this even acuate? Morning folks We have hybrid office 365 set up currently. The only on premise element is the DC and File server. Lots of staff have begun working from home which has created a bit of a problem in terms of applying group policy. The plan is to start migrating all the company data in to SharePoint. but we need to be able to control what files the onedrive client syncs on staffs computer or enable files on demand across the board. Usually we would do this via a GPO but because of the above scenario it wont apply to the majority of staff unless the connect to the vpn and run a gpupdate. is there a way of defining these onedrive client settings in the office 365 admin console? or do we need something like intune? its happened to me. all my dividers are now white and i didn't ask for that. i needed them grey on a black background. its totally changed the look of the company intranet. Microsoft support have told me this is a design change, but im challenging what they are telling me. Ive not known Microsoft to change already implemented design changes without some kind of coms about it.3.2KViews0likes1CommentSharePoint modern site search results
Hey people I've built a modern SharePoint intranet site in an office 365 provided SharePoint platform. I have a "who's who" page with the people web part used to display company staff. Because i couldn't figure out a way of having something that searches the page, i just added a search button that links to _layouts/15/search.aspx/people but the problem with this is that for some reason its not in alphabetical order, and i cant figure out how to change this. some things Microsoft do don't make much sense! Would appreciate any help please 🙂881Views0likes0CommentsSharepoint intranet site URL
Hi we are using the latest SharePoint hosted on office 365. I've built a SharePoint intranet site by purely winging it. Is there a way, other than using a dns redirect to create a friendly name for a the site. as currently it looks like thishttps://111111111111111111111111979.sharepoint.com/sites/RHAIntranet(characters replaced by 1 to hide actual path) im not sure it can be done other than a dns redirect. Is there an expert here that can confirm this please? Thank you1.6KViews0likes1CommentTeams room calendar in SharePoint modern.
Hi All Will start by saying i haven't a clue what i am doing... Ive been building the new company intranet for a couple of weeks using office 365 SharePoint, i went with a SharePoint modern site using the built in web parts and its exactly what we want, a few places I've had to embed html but otherwise its good. One thing that's been asked for is the ability to see the Microsoft teams room calendars so people arnt just sending email after email to book slots that are already taken. The only web part i can see is for a group calendar, which the teams room calendar isnt a group calendar. Ive done some googling and things started to go down a rabbit hole i had no knowledge in, like building custom web parts with html and java scripts, or building a Microsoft power app that references the teams room calendar... basically to the point where my knowledge breaks down. I am a 2nd line support engineer not a developer. Ive looked at web parts but a lot of them what a subscription. Does anyone have any suggestions please?576Views0likes0Comments
