How to Enable a Windows Vista-Style Application Interface in Windows 10?
Without using any third-party customization tools, I have observed a Windows Vista-style application interface on the taskbar of an official brand laptop/desktop running Windows 11. This feature appears to be a built-in official characteristic of Windows 11, but I cannot find any option to enable or configure it in the current device settings. Seeking specific activation methods and the official name of this feature.MikaeliopMar 13, 2026Iron Contributor78Views0likes6CommentsAfter upgrading from Windows 10, the Check for updates button appears greyed out and unresponsive.
After upgrading my computer from Windows 10 to Windows 11, the "Check for updates" button in the Windows Update interface has remained greyed out and is completely unclickable. I have tried every method I could find online, such as running the Update Troubleshooter, resetting the Windows Update components, and checking service statuses, but the button is still disabled.DashielQuinnMar 13, 2026Iron Contributor135Views0likes5CommentsPeriodic Stuttering for Several Seconds After Waking from Sleep in Windows 10
After the device wakes from sleep mode, brief periods of complete system freezing (mouse cannot move) occur every few minutes, followed by all interrupted operations resuming simultaneously as if fast-forwarded. This issue can currently only be temporarily resolved by restarting the computer. I would like to know the specific causes and a permanent solution.OakleyCruzMar 13, 2026Iron Contributor107Views0likes6CommentsHow to password protect a 7-Zip file in Windows 10?
Just installed the latest version of 7-Zip on my Windows 10 PC, and I know how to create a basic archive. I selected the files, right-clicked, and used the 'Add to archive' option, but no place to enter the password?. How can I password protect 7-zip file in Windows 10? If anyone could provide a clear, step-by-step explanation, preferably with screenshots or exact menu paths that would be incredibly helpful.BramwellStoneMar 13, 2026Iron Contributor9.2KViews0likes6Comments0x000000e blue screen error on boot after mbr2gpt
Hello, I just tried converting my boot disk to gpt in order to upgrade to Windows 11 from 10. I don't have screenshots on the cmd while doing so, but I remember it said it was successful. I have disabled CSM support and enabled Secure boot and made sure it says secure boot is active on the BIOS as well, but I still get this error when trying to boot. I do have 2 identical boot options which I've read can happen after mbr2gpt, but neither seem to work. I am able to boot in safe mode and would love any help getting my PC to boot now, and while I'm fine with wiping and rebuilding windows as a last resort, I would love to not have to reinstall everything. I take being able to boot in safe mode as a sign I might just have to repair with my partitions or something so I'm hoping I don't have to reset everything. Thank you!nettlsMar 13, 2026Copper Contributor110Views0likes6CommentsHow much privacy could you get on a Windows 10 PC?
I switched to Linux Mint and it was too much for me because I don't have time to learn all these commands, I work as a video editor and I own a Davinci Resolve Studio license but it took me 5 hours to get it to work on Linux (they officially support Rocky Linux distro, not Mint). Eventually I found a guy who made some script to make it work, so if this guy dies and Davinci Resolve gets an update, I'll be unemployed. I heard a lot about Linux being "so customizable" but actually turned out to be way less customizable than windows. Yes I spent most of my time taking commands from chatgpt and pasting the errors I get back to chatgpt. I really underestimated how the system works. I'm back on windows now, I'm having really hard time accepting this but I really need windows to put food on the table (I know I can dual boot but then what's the point). I use mullvad VPN, Firefox, DuckDuckGo search engine, O&O app buster, simplewall and ShutUp. I use protonmail for emails and I completely nuked OneDrive from my pc and using a local account. Is there more that I can do? I'm becoming really obsessed with privacy to the point that it's annoying me, I was even looking how to become my own ISP lol. I removed 9 years of my photos from google photos and saved them on an external drive.HarolderMar 13, 2026Brass Contributor79Views0likes1CommentHow can I find my saved WiFi password on Windows 10?
Hello , I would like to ask, how can I view the saved WiFi password on Windows 10? Sometimes I need to use WiFi when I change devices or when friends come to my house, but I don’t remember the password. Does anyone know how to find it? I have a 2017 HP Spectre laptop running Windows 10 Pro. Up until now it has been functioning near perfectly despite its age, and it's the only computer I want to use for the rest of my life if at all possible. I treat it like glass. Nothing has ever gone wrong with it that I can remember (except needing the battery replaced about a year ago, and occasional charging issues since then). Well, this past month or so, it's started giving me a "Boot device not found" black screen and/or the "ran into a problem and needs to restart" blue screen when I turn it on, whether it was hibernated or fully shut off. I tried to troubleshoot, but I'm not nearly tech-y enough to follow any of the suggestions I found, and I'm scared of messing something up. The message(s) would appear sporadically at first, but now it's literally EVERY TIME I turn it on. Restarting always clears the problem and then I can use my computer like normal, but it's been days since I was able to turn it on without needing an immediate restart. It probably wouldn't be smart to just leave it on or in sleep mode all the time, but I also don't know how good it is to let it crash every single time I start using it. And also this means I can't leave any files open, ever. I need to be able to put things aside overnight without worrying about losing them. I haven't noticed any other issues with my computer, either related or unrelated, but I am very worried about what happens if this persists or escalates somehow. What should I do? (Lmk if more info is needed. I haven't gotten a shot of the error code on the blue screen because it always flashes away too quickly to read, but I can try to catch it next time if that helps?)AquaHeartGirlMar 13, 2026Occasional Reader10Views0likes0Comments
