I don't know what to do. I can't reformat this laptop. I have a piece of software on it that is the only copy I have, & only works because I was logged in when they got rid of it and forced everyone to go with the newer version I don't want. Not to mention it has all of my info on it in offline mode. 1. I didn't realize the update affected my external HD which has all of my files on it until I tried to play some music & it kept spinning. Then I started to get a popup saying it needs to be formatted. OMG. I plugged it into my desktop that has Win 7 on it & it also wants me to reformat it. WHY??? What did Windows do to it? 2. I had to restart my laptop 5 times before the Open shell would load & it takes forever to load. 3. It broke my Thunderbird, but now I know why my emails never loaded, it's because it can't get access to my external HD. I can't believe this. I don't know what to do & no, I don't have a thumb drive with the restore point thingy on it. I needed that, didn't I? But how would that fix the external HD?AlabamaCrimsonNov 07, 2025Iron Contributor72Views0likes1CommentHow to fix 0x80190001 Microsoft login error on Windows 10?
I'm experiencing a frustrating issue with my Windows 10 device where I keep encountering the 0x80190001 error code when trying to log into my Microsoft account. It's been two weeks currently since Win 10 ended and currently, it's still impossible for me to get the ESU link to pop up. My PC is on 22H2, with every update installed, I'm living in France, have a Microsoft account linked to my computer and active with admin settings. I'm honestly unsure where is the problem and Microsoft Twitter was not too helping if not problematic (now I'm forced to have a pin or to log with my Microsoft password where before I had my session password that was fine). When I'm "forcing" the pop up to show up so I can register, I get hit with an error, saying "We cannot enroll you to extended security updates for now. Close this window and try again." As you can imagine, it never worked. So any idea on what to do? Please?MeyrimeNov 06, 2025Copper Contributor32Views0likes2CommentsWindows 11 Scheduler Fails to Execute my Scheduled Tasks
Greetings, I am currently utilizing an ASUS laptop and an Acer Aspire 5. My objective is to automate a daily task to resume from hibernation at 9am and launch an Excel workbook. The operating system on both machines is Windows 11 Home, Version 23H2, Build 22631.3737, installed on 15/3/2024. I have opted to deactivate the Windows 11 logon screen. Although the task scheduler successfully runs tasks created by software providers, I am encountering difficulties in executing tasks I create myself. These tasks, including opening cmd.exe or notepad.exe, do not run on either of my laptops, indicating that I may be overlooking a crucial step. Despite extensively researching through videos and investing hours into this endeavor, I am on the brink of frustration. Upon setting a task, its status is marked as ready, but unfortunately, nothing occurs at the designated time. Interestingly, attempting to manually trigger a task within the scheduler, designated by a green triangle, also proves unsuccessful. Nonetheless, I am able to manage other functions like disabling/enabling tasks and adjusting properties without any issues. I have diligently ensured that the machines are configured to awaken from hibernation and have rebooted after each task edit, although it remains unclear if this step is necessary. Despite pursuing what appears to be a straightforward task, it has proven to be quite time-consuming and perplexing. One notable deviation from the numerous tutorial videos is that I am prompted to input my Windows password when saving the task. I find myself at a loss, seeking a resolution to this predicament.AlexanderJohnsonNov 06, 2025Copper Contributor398Views0likes1CommentTroubleshooting Bootmgfw.efi Problems Preventing Windows 10 Booting
Salutations! I have been enjoying the experience of simultaneously running Linux Mint and macOS on my laptop by utilizing separate external SSD drives for each operating system. The boot loader I've been employing is rEFInd. Recently, however, I encountered an issue when attempting to boot into macOS. A message appeared on the screen stating: "Error: premature end of file /EFI/APPLE/BOOT/BOOTX64.efi." Despite my efforts to resolve this problem through online research, I could not find any useful resources addressing this specific premature end error. The solutions provided were more geared towards cases where the mentioned file was missing altogether. To address the issue, I attempted to use the macOS recovery system. However, upon opening the Disk Utility, the external SSD drive housing macOS was not detected. Only the USB drive containing the macOS installer was visible. Feeling quite uncertain about how to proceed, any guidance or assistance would be greatly appreciated.DanielThomasNov 06, 2025Copper Contributor377Views0likes1CommentAny free tool available to remove text from image or picture?
Hi, I have dozens of images where I need to cleanly remove some text from the pictures. The text is overlaid on a relatively simple background, but I'm struggling to get a good result without it looking obviously edited. I've tried a few basic online free tools, but they leave behind a blurry or mismatched patch. Could you please suggest the most effective method to remove text from image? I'm comfortable using anything user friendly and quick. However, not the complex and expensive ones like Adobe Photoshop.NayaohNov 06, 2025Iron Contributor72Views0likes9CommentsWhat is the best disk clone software for Windows PC?
The internal disk is only a 256GB SSD in my Windows 10 PC and I bought a new SSD to solve the free space not enough issue. However, I don't want to reinstall Windows os and apps. I heard disk cloning software is able to copy the os and apps. Is this true? I need something reliable to clone my entire system drive to a new SSD without losing any data. Ideally, the tool should support bootable disk cloning, handle large drives, and offer decent speed and error handling. I heard a few disk cloning software for windows but not sure which one is the most trustworthy in 2025. If you've recently cloned a drive on Windows 10 or 11, I'd love to hear what worked well for you and why. Any pros and cons, gotchas, or performance notes are also welcome! Thanks in advance!ParisaGulNov 05, 2025Iron Contributor9.3KViews0likes8CommentsWhat should I do if Windows 10 not locking on sleep?
My Windows 10 computer is not locking automatically when it goes to sleep. I have confirmed that the "Require sign-in when the PC wakes from sleep" setting is turned on in my power options, but when the screen turns off or the system sleeps, anyone can still move the mouse or press a key to get full access to my desktop without being prompted for a password. This is a major security concern, and I have already tried updating my graphics drivers and checking for any conflicting settings in the screensaver and lock screen menu without any success. I am looking for any other troubleshooting steps or potential fixes that could resolve this issue and make sure my PC properly locks itself every single time it enters sleep mode.ArkansasQuapawNov 05, 2025Iron Contributor28Views0likes1Comment
