Some icons missing in the taskbar in Windows 10
In programs such as Microsoft Teams, all Microsoft store apps and the system settings don't have an icon anymore in the taskbar. I tried different things, such us disabling tablet mode or restarting Windows Explorer. They did't work.juliovazquezmlNov 29, 2025Copper Contributor860Views1like1CommentKeyboard stopped working windows updates KB4023057

Something, something, Windows 10 is dead, bin your computers now
I'm experiencing serious performance issues with SMB file transfers on Windows 11 after upgrading to versions 24H2 and 25H2. Transfers to Isilon storage clusters over WAN are extremely slow, unlike on older Windows 10 or earlier Windows 11 versions, which had great performance. Despite downgrading SMB dialects and adjusting client settings, the problem persists, and Dell support has suggested it may be related to these recent Windows updates or network issues. Additionally, Windows Servers and newer server instances also show similar issues when accessing the same storage, indicating a possible compatibility problem with third-party storage solutions and the latest Windows builds. This problem is affecting productivity and is a significant concern for our environment, especially since older Windows versions and even some server OS versions handle these transfers smoothly. It seems that recent Windows updates may have broken SMB performance with certain storage systems, and we need advice or solutions to resolve this critical issue before it impacts more operations.IsabellaisNov 28, 2025Bronze Contributor33Views0likes1CommentHelp I don’t know how to get my Windows 10

I have a bit of a problem, I would really appreciate your expertise. I have installed a standalone Win Server 2025 LTSC Preview Build 26052, which was successfully updated to Build 26063.1 through Windows Update, on a pretty old but trusty laptop (i7-Q720, 8GB DDR3, SSD 860 EVO 250GB). On this particular laptop I like to experiment on, so I have at times installed Win 7, Win 8.1, Win 10 and Win 11, but also Win Server 2012 and Win Server 2016. The most recent installations were Win Server 2016 and finally Win 11, up till last month. Now I performed a clean installation of Win Server 2025, but right from the start, I cannot enable sign-in with either PIN or Fingerprint, which of course worked just fine on Win 11 and Win Server 2016 and on any other OS. The error displayed is: "The device doesn't meet your organization's requirements for Windows Hello". On top of that there is a warning displayed that: "Some of these settings are managed by your organization.", but maybe that's irrelevant, or something to do with my tinkering. The laptop is not connected to any Domain, and have not set up any work or school email accounts. I have set up a new user, member of Administrators, and have tried with either the new user or the built-in Administrator user. I have installed all drivers, all updates, and have looked anywhere I could think off.CharlesTaylorNov 28, 2025Copper Contributor534Views0likes1CommentStaying on Windows 10 without getting infected
It has been a month since Microsoft officially killed support for Windows 10. For most users, October 2025 was the signal to finally buy a new PC or give in to the Windows 11 upgrade prompts. But for a significant portion of this community, moving on isn't an option. Maybe your hardware is perfectly fine but lacks the arbitrary TPM requirements, or maybe you just refuse to use an operating system that screenshots your desktop every five seconds for "AI context." Whatever your reason, you are now running a zero-day vulnerable operating system. Every new exploit found from this point forward will remain unpatched by Microsoft. If you want to keep using this OS as your daily driver without joining a botnet, you need to change how you manage security. Passive protection is no longer enough.FelixsyuNov 28, 2025Iron Contributor32Views0likes1CommentTitle: Folders Not Refreshing Automatically After Installing Update KB5032190
I typically manage numerous images on a weekly basis, organizing them in folders displayed in medium and large thumbnail views. By default, all folders are sorted alphabetically. Before the installation of the KB5032190 update, folders would refresh automatically, eliminating the need to constantly press F5 whenever I made edits or duplicates. Prior to KB5032190, if I held down the CTRL key while dragging to duplicate an image, the duplicate would automatically be placed in front of the original. However, after installing KB5032190, duplicates are now placed at the end of the folder, requiring me to manually refresh the folder by hitting F5 to reorder them how I desire. This issue also presents itself when editing and saving images, as the edited image is pushed to the end of the folder until I manually refresh it using the F5 key. Despite researching online for several days and trying various solutions such as rebuilding the thumbnail cache and system repairs, the only effective resolution was to uninstall KB5032190. I am reluctant to disable Windows updates or block this patch indefinitely, and instead, I am seeking a viable solution or recommendation to address this persistent issue.EdwardNelsonNov 28, 2025Copper Contributor174Views0likes1CommentAs Windows 10 hits EOL, Microsoft says it's designing Windows 11 for AI
As Windows 10 approaches its end of life, Microsoft has indicated that Windows 11 is being designed with a focus on integrating artificial intelligence capabilities to enhance user experience and productivity. However, many users are concerned about the implications of this shift, such as increased system requirements, privacy concerns, and the potential loss of familiar features, which makes it difficult to adapt to the new operating system. This transition raises questions about the future of Windows updates, compatibility issues, and whether Windows 11 will truly deliver on its AI-driven promises without compromising user control and security. Users are seeking clarity on Microsoft's vision for Windows 11 and how these AI features will impact everyday use, especially for those who prefer a stable and predictable computing environment. Understanding these changes is crucial for users planning their upgrade paths and system management strategies.AlmaiwNov 28, 2025Iron Contributor67Views1like1Comment
