Windows 10, version 21H2 announced!
Windows continues to play an important role in people’s lives as they continue to work, learn and have fun in hybrid and remote environments. Our goal is to provide new features and functionality via a fast and reliable update experience to help keep people and organizations protected and productive. Version 21H2 will continue the recent feature update trend of being delivered in an optimized way using servicing technology, like the way we delivered version 1909 to devices running version 1903 and the way we delivered version 21H1 to devices running versions 2004 and 20H2. Our launch approach for Windows 10, version 21H2 continues to fully leverage theWindows Insider Programto obtain user feedback and data insights on quality. Today, we begin releasing 21H2 builds to Windows Insiders who were moved to theRelease Preview channelfrom the Beta channel because their specific devices did not meet thehardware requirements for Windows 11. For more information on Windows 10, version 21H2, its feature set, how it's being delivered, and the Windows Insider channels, please see John Cable's blog here:Introducing the next feature update to Windows 10: 21H2 | Windows Experience Blog. --Joe. Please add native support for the German ergonomic NEO2 keyboard layout: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neo_(keyboard_layout) https://www.neo-layout.org/ It is supported out of the box on most other operating systems. On Windows, one has to rely on a third-party keyboard driver, and I'm afraid that driver would cease to function in future Windows updates / releases. I'm heavily used to NEO2, and I'd hate to have to go back to QWERTY.fhajjiOct 02, 2019Brass Contributor5.4KViews12likes9CommentsOffice documents in Windows 10 timeline saved on onedrive open in browser instead of office app
Hello, I like windows timeline but I am facing a really annoying thing with office documents saved on onedrive. When I click in timeline on these documents they open in browser instead of office app. * For other types of documents (pdf) they open properly in PDF application. * For office documents saved in other locations they open properly in office application instead of browser. How can I change this behaviour? Thanks, FrantisekFrantisekKDec 18, 2018Copper Contributor4.9KViews11likes18CommentsWhy am I getting this "Let's finish setting up your device" blue screen?
I've got Windows 10 Pro. I'm currently at release 2004 (OS Build 19041.508). Some months back, my machine was really screwed up when the upgrade to Windows 10 came along. I got one of those "Let's finish setting up your device" messages, which I did. At that point, it corrupted all the profiles on my Windows 10 system. I vowed to NEVER again run that! So, I purchased an SSD drive, replaced my old hard drive, installed Windows 10 Pro on it and that's the way it's been for 4 or 5 months. But every few days I get this threatening message: however, now it gives me the information that it's going to pester me again in 3 days if I don't click the Continue button. First, I doNOT want to do that, because of how it corrupted all my profiles the last time. Secondly, I've already done everything that worthless, irritating, continually in my face message talks about. I cannot use Windows Hello on this PC, as the motherboard does NOT support it I've already linked my phone to my PC I already synchronize my history to OneDrive I already have set up a Microsoft 365 subscription, which I utilize on this PC Like I said previously, I've already got OneDrive connected AND running, on this PC So, how do I stop this useless message popping up over and overand overand overand overand overand overand overand overand overand overand overand overand overand overand overand over again, without totally corrupting all of the Windows profiles on my machine? This irritating message is the equivalent of that irritating UAC popup that Windows Vista plagued everyone with.SolvedRod-FOct 06, 2020Iron Contributor514KViews11likes28CommentsKB5034441 fails to install with error code 0x80070643.
Feedback from a long time patcher here: The manner in which this particular update has been handled has been poor in my opinion. The update is only being pushed out to Windows update or Windows update for business and is not on the Microsoft catalog nor WSUS. So this update has been pushed to machines that I would call "lightly" managed or "unmanaged". Some of these impacted machines have no TPM chip nor do they have bitlocker installed so the need for this update is nil. The communication thus far has been to instruct us to manually attempt to resize partitions which are not easy to do for anyone, and particularly not for a lot of machines. There are few tools that I can see that let us know if we're going to hit this issue other than to attempt to install and see if it fails. The PowerShell script is not something I'd have my 95 Dad want to do to his machine, let alone me wanting to do it to a bunch of machines at the office. We're now at Friday, right before patching weekend and may I request a lot more communication and perhaps someone going back and adding in detection into the patch to at least not attempt to install on machines that have no tpm chip and do not have bitlocker installed. These machines are not at risk. What you are asking your Microsoft patchers to do with this update is not acceptable and not attainable by your Windows 10 patching audience.181KViews10likes70Comments[Request] be able to restart Windows Sandbox | Persistent vs Temporary Sandbox
Windows Sandbox cannot be used for testing any software installation which requires a restart. This is one of its shortcomings, I think Microsoft should implement some kind of setting in future to allow a 'persistent' Sandbox besides the current temporary Sandbox. so like user will be asked before launching it that whether they want a Temporary or Persistent sandbox. Temporary = everything is wiped clean after closing. Persistent = everything will be there even after host device restart/shutdown or Windows sandbox (guest OS) restart.25KViews9likes2CommentsIs Windows 11 Real?
