How to set a picture password as the default login method in Windows 10?
Desktop PCs running Windows 10 default to unlocking with picture passwords, but after setting up Windows 11 on a new laptop, it often reverts to a standard password after restarting. How can I permanently lock the default login method to the picture password?0Views0likes0CommentsAfter updating to Windows 11 23H2, games are experiencing key conflicts?
After installing the cumulative update for 23H2 following August 2025, key conflicts occur in games like Dragon Nest: Simultaneously pressing W and numeric keys (3/4/5, etc.) erroneously triggers the Q key. The hardware issue has been ruled out by replacing the keyboard. Seeking a software-level solution.0Views0likes0CommentsCan't extend the screen timeout on Windows 11? It always turns off after 3 minutes.
The system screen timeout is set to 15 minutes, but the screen still turns off after only 3 minutes. I have tried adjusting all relevant options in the power plan settings (including timeouts in advanced settings and hardware-related parameters), but none have worked. I am seeking a permanent solution.3Views0likes0CommentsWhat spec PC do I need for a reasonable experience on Windows 11
I mainly use Linux these days, but unfortunately there are still a few things that I need Windows for. My current Windows 10 PC is very old and more or less unusable. If I haven't used it for a few weeks it sometimes takes many hours just to boot. What is the lowest spec I could get away with to have a reasonably well-functioning Windows 11 system? I will mainly use it for editing particular documents where there is no Linux editor available. I might also use it for music editing (FL studio), but that is just a hobby. I'm not a gamer, so I don't need a fancy graphics card. I couple of years ago I made the mistake of upgrading my wife's PC with a very cheap windows box (about £300 new). It runs but it is painfully slow. I really wish I has spent a bit more. I don't want to make the same mistake again. I will definitely get as SSD this time that should improve things. What processor and RAM will I need to have a system that just runs normally?7Views0likes0CommentsPC freezes a LOT after upgrading to Windows 11
I noticed that my computer freezes a lot after i upgraded from windows 10 (through media creation tool btw) and i thought that it would be fixed after a few months or so and thought it was only happening with me turns out that my friend also had the exact same problem and it wasn't unique to say the least... what i figured from task manager is that whenever ANY of my harddrives are being used (an Old NVME card with windows on it, a SATA SSD and an HDD) the entire pc freezes not only just used but like whenever chrome or edge are auto updating or when discord auto updates, hell... even when i open a zip file the pc freezes had absolutely zero problems when i was in windows 10 and all this suddenly started happening and its driving me insane here are some specs of the pc if that helps... CPU: Ryzen 5 2600X (3.60 GHz) RAM: 16GB (2933 MHz) GPU: GTX 1080 OS: Windows 11 Pro 25H2 OS Build: 26200.7019 would love to know what changed from win10 or how do i even fix this thanks in advance!5Views0likes0CommentsThere is an edition of Windows 11 that is still supported on older hardware
Why YSK: On October 14, 2025, Windows 10 support will officially end, meaning PCs still running it will no longer receive security updates, putting users at risk. However, upgrading to Windows 11 isn't an option for many people due to strict hardware requirements, leaving thousands of perfectly functional PCs without official support. Many tools let you bypass hardware checks to install Windows 11 and get monthly updates, but yearly feature updates will fail. What many don't know is that Microsoft released Windows 11 IoT Enterprise in 2024, a version that has relaxed system requirements compared to standard Windows 11. This means: It can run on older hardware that doesn't meet TPM 2.0 or CPU restrictions It still gets security and feature updates It functions just like regular Windows 11, without unnecessary upgrade barriers11Views0likes0CommentsWhat useful applications do you consider having installed on Windows PC?
I'm referring to those applications that you know you will always install every time you buy a new PC because you know they are very useful and you will use them daily or at crucial moments, either for your professional work or particular activities that you do daily not related to work.8Views0likes0CommentsPC Manager is one of the best and most reliable products Microsoft has developed
Just wanted to shout out PC Manager – hands down one of Microsoft's best and most straightforward tools! It’s lightweight, user-friendly, and does exactly what it promises: optimizes your PC without bloat or gimmicks. From cleaning up junk files to managing startup apps, it’s a rare gem from MS that feels honest and effective. Anyone else loving this app?10Views0likes0CommentsWindows Installer logging is not working on W11 25H2
Hello, I am trying to troubleshoot a failed GPO software deployment, the GPO log itself is not detailed enough, so I tried to enable the Windows Installer logging options as per this article: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/troubleshoot/windows-client/application-management/enable-windows-installer-logging I tried both the GPO approach and directly modifying the registry (even though the flags from the GPO were already populated there), but there are no msi*.log files created anywhere. For the GPO installations I expect the log files to be created from the system account, either in %windir%\Temp or somewhere under \%windir%\System32\config\systemprofile I though that maybe there is something preventing the GPO installations to create log files, perhaps since they are silent. According to the article: Each time that you use the Add or Remove Programs item in Control Panel, a new Msi*.log file is created. so I tested by removing a random program from a user session, expecting a file to be created in %temp%, but again, nothing. Is this feature broken, or am I missing something? Best regards Alexander9Views0likes0CommentsASUS laptop crashes every time I try to use it unplugged
I bought an Asus laptop a few months ago and I am now getting a blue screen of death when I try to use it unplugged. It doesn't crash immediately, but maybe 10 minutes later. One time, when it came back up, it no longer recognized it's own speakers as an output device. Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix this? I am not very good at computers, so some of the guides online were hard for me to follow.12Views0likes0CommentsSamsung note 10+ cannot enable audio but enables Calls
When connected to W11 Laptop via Bluetooth, Samsung note 10+ cannot enable audio but enables Calls. So, when my Samsung note 10+ is connected via Bluetooth to my Win 11 laptop, I can enable calls, but not audio. When slide the Audio button on, it immediately slides back off. (see pic)This phone connects with all my other devices and plays audio on them. Only with this Windows machine does it fail. I've tried all the fixes I could find. FYI, I do have a MOTU M2 digital interface attached to this laptop. I use it for MIDI/Audio IN/OUT on the computer using Reaper DAW. Could the interface be the problem?12Views0likes0CommentsVirtual Windows Desktops doesnt respond on desktop?
I'm experiencing an issue where the Virtual Windows Desktops feature is not responding on my desktop. Despite trying to switch between virtual desktops, nothing happens, and the interface seems frozen or unresponsive. This problem is affecting my workflow, as I can't organize or access different virtual desktops properly. I have tried restarting my computer and updating my system, but the issue persists. It appears that the virtual desktops are either disabled or malfunctioning, preventing me from creating, switching, or closing virtual desktops as needed. If anyone has encountered a similar problem or has suggestions for fixing this, I would greatly appreciate your help. This issue is disrupting my productivity, and I am looking for a solution to restore the normal functionality of Virtual Windows Desktops on my system.19Views0likes0CommentsMy first BSOD in 20 years on Windows 11 computer
I know now what caused it. The BFE (Base Filtering Engine) was infected with a malware. That caused my firewall to stop functioning and invited more malware into my system, and that eventually led to it. It was kind of my fault for I was online for a few minutes without any anti-virus protection to update my drivers. If you ever face the same problem (BFE unable to activate and kind of being grayed out), there is a freeware tool called PSTools that will reactivate it.9Views0likes0CommentsI managed to run Windows 11 on a phone
For a couple days i wanted to install windows 11 on my old phone cuz why not. Also, i did have experience in running linux distro (postmarket os) on my different phone so i thought it will be not more difficult than that. I was mistaken.. it took me around 8 hrs of trying and finding tools and files that could work on my device (Mi POCO X3 pro). But finally, after 3 attempts i managed to get it running pretty smooth. Only thing, touchscreen it kinda messed up and inverted by half.. so if you guys have any solution, l'd appreciate if you share it.13Views0likes0CommentsI accidently uninstalled the IE Mode Option and I need to install it back but I can't find it
