Wiki links gone

What happened to the "[[pagename" shortcut to create a link in the Text web part?

@CaroleSL I'm having the exact same issue. It appears to only work on my Communications Site home page, but not on any other Modern SharePoint pages. I've been able to still get the wiki links to generate with the double brackets if I save the page and then refresh the browser, but it doesn't show the page selection dropdown box when you type [[ anymore. Additionally this work-around doesn't add the "create new page" modifier to the URL is the page you are linking to doesn't exist yet. I don't know what happened, this used to work. I really need Microsoft to fix this issue ASAP.

A three month ticket on this with Microsoft was just completed on this issue.  Please check to see if this functionality is restored for you as it was for me.  The only difference I've found is that a space and <enter> after the new brackets used to do the same thing while now only the space creates the link.

The official response is as follows:

"I did receive the below update from the product group which i will like you to confirm from your end.

This feature is currently working as expected just that you need to press space after the ]] square brackets. and this will create a new link.

Once page is published, then you can go ahead with clicking on the same link and it will ask for new page creation."

I contested the 'working as expected' line as it makes it sound like there was never an issue and we just weren't hitting space.  Some backend change affected this feature and some backend change put it back, it would be helpful if they were upfront about that.
