New Co-Authoring Feature REMOVES Discard Changes
This post is more of an information for SharePoint users since Microsoft haven't announced the removal of Discard changes for pages / news posts as part of their co-authoring feature. This is a major regression and will cause a lot of pain to most of Microsoft's customers. Microsoft have said that they are replacing Discard changes (as it's no longer required anymore - REALLY) with Undo and version history. The Undo button doesn't discard changes to a page. You can undo your changes, but the page will still be saved as a new version regardless. I've testing in my test tenant where the new co-authoring feature has been rolled out and I can NOT discard changes anymore. Scenario (and an extremely common one) We have flows (reviews, approvals, etc.) that run when a Page (Standard Page or News Article) is published. Now, if I go into a published page to check on some of the page layout and make some temporary changes (VERY frequent that this happens across all of our authors), it will save a version with my changes, and I am now forced to restore the previous version to remove my changes, which will inadvertently move the page back into Draft mode and need to be republished. Republishing it again will kick off another flow, and the page will now be published by the user that temporarily updated the page, and on the current date/time. We absolutely need our pages and news articles to keep the actual date they were published and display who originally published them (these are displayed on the page) and not kick off additional review/approval flows. It will also affect our version history which we rely on for auditing purposes. Before, I could go in and help someone with their page and discard my changes, or our authors could just play around with the design of the page and not have any intention of keeping their changes. Now, those users will end up in the version history when they didn't actually have any intent on keeping their temporarily changes. Love to get your thoughts on this regression. Especially since Microsoft seem to think it's not important, and have not posted any communications (general, M365 service announcements, etc.) about the removal of Discard changes.grant_jenkinsMar 10, 2025Steel Contributor1.8KViews13likes11CommentsCopilot license for creating AI Agents for SharePoint & Copilot Studio

I'm starting a small business and was looking at replicating what I've had with Dynamics 365 in my previous jobs, but I can't necessarily afford the cost. One thing I enjoyed was being able to have my accounts have a hierarchy. Is there a way to have accounts flagged or marked so that when I run reports or searches I can see each subordinate?EdgeTech78Mar 10, 2025Copper Contributor490Views0likes3CommentsImporting JSON as a list in SharePoint Online via pnp
I'm trying to import a JSON list file to my Sharepoint online website. But it seems impossible to import it directly. Does anyone know a possibility via pnp because I saw a method on pnp named "fromJson" but I don't know how to use it to import my files to my SharePoint website. Hi I have tried to search for an answer to this to no avail. We have a SharePoint list and want to create a rule that sends an email when a new list item is created. Sounds simple but I can't seem to add a SharedMailbox email address only UserMailbox email addresses. We do have a work around where we have created a rule in outlook instead that when the email arrives to the UserMailbox forward it to the correct SharedMailbox but it seems a bit silly that I can't directly add a SharedMailbox to the SharePoint list directly from the below. See below the screenshot of where I am trying to insert the SharedMailbox email address. It doesn't find it and if I add it in manually the create rule button doesn't activate. Am I missing something? Thank you!slw_willsMar 10, 2025Copper Contributor116Views0likes3CommentsSOLUTION for Calendar Overlays with modern SharePoint list
Hello You can create overlays from different calendars based on SharePoint List (calendar view). The trick is to create a page and add a webpart: Workaround (1) Create a new Page (2) Add a EVENTS WEBPART on that page it will also create an events list (3) Delete that page because you do not need that list. (4) Now create two new lists like CAR1 and CAR2 and add the custom columns: "Start Date" and "End Date" (5) Use the events list created by the webpart from step (2) (6) Edit the page by using SETTINGS >> EDIT PAGE (7) Select the calendar webpart and on the ribbon tab the CALENDAR tab and click in the ribbon on "Calendar overlays" (8) Add a new overlay and choose the color, the list (before refresh) and do it for all other lists with calendar view ;) (9) The only problem for me was, that I cannot use a content editor webpart to add text on top of the calendar you need to use a picture. (10) Thats it ;) I hope it will somebody yet... Cheers Michael DamaschkeMikel2024Mar 10, 2025Copper Contributor4Views0likes0CommentsAdding web parts to SharePoint sites
Hi, I'm a bit new to SharePoint development and am trying to create a new page. I can add new web parts and below is a sample of ones that I can add: A co-worker has a different page and she is able to add different types of web parts than me. She gave me an example of this site which uses these web parts: Beautiful, website-like SharePoint Intranet Solution (origamiconnect.com) I read through the site and it appears to be a third party development company. We want to keep the development inhouse. I was wondering in order to get different web parts than the default, would I need to purchase different templates from third party companies. Or are there places where I can download free web parts that integrate with SharePoint. JasonSolvedJasonYeungMar 10, 2025Brass Contributor5.3KViews0likes5CommentsMake a library line item longer
I'm trying to work out how to make a library line item much longer (so that I can preview pictures straight from the line item) but cannot work out how! I assume I will need to change the JSON but using "height" is not doing anything.SolvedRMDUser1Mar 10, 2025Brass Contributor23Views0likes2Comments
