Contact information in Teams

Our company email format is <firstname.lastname>
Our Active Directory userIDs are always <firstinitiallastname>
Due to how things were set up in the past and our Office365 syncing from our on-prem AD, our UserID for Microsoft is <userid>

I have a complaint that I'm not sure that I can fix and would like some additional opinions. 
When opening up a user's contact information in Teams the contact card shows your Email and then the Chat, along with the account it's associated with. 

Is it possible to have the account under chat match the email? Or not have ANYTHING show up in the chat area? It's confusing and users are starting to use <userid> for their emails, not sticking with our organization standard.
