We have a teams-enabled desk phone (handset - Yealink MP56 phone) which is linked to our organisation's Microsoft 365 tenant and our accounts.
We want to make use of the 'speed dial' functionality, so that we can quickly and easily call our most common (external) customers, etc.
For some reason, in Teams (desktop app) on our computers, when we add a contact and fill out their information, everything adds fine. When we right-click and add that contact to our 'speed dial' on Teams, it shows correctly on Teams desktop with the name and contact number, however in the Teams phone (Yealink MP56 handset) only their telephone number is shown in the speed dial list results, not their name!
Obviously this is completely useless for us, as if we knew their direct telephone numbers, we would just ring them. We need their contact names to show too.
I have tested this with internal people within our organization by adding them into my contact list and speed dial 'favourites', and their names appear correctly, but any external numbers do not. It looks like this phone system is designed for large organizations to make internal calls. Is there any way to make the contact names appear in the Teams phone?

@louiedrums same issue over here. Hopefully someone will post with a resolution.

Solution@rolltide362 Hi there,
We have somewhat found a workaround which works on our Teams devices (Yealink MP56 Teams desk phones) which may be of use to you.
Instead of adding speed dial via Teams desktop, we've managed to get external contacts to show up by doing it this way:
Hopefully this helps - the issue seems to be that when adding the contact to your speed dial inside the Desktop app (instead of on the phone itself) it glitches. Very strange! Hopefully this works for you too.
