Group objects
Hi, I am a longtime user of Word. I have just transferred to a new and stronger laptop; however, when trying to group more than 5 items Word stops responding and sometimes crashes. I disabled all add-ons, hoping it would help. Any ideas? I usually insert the figure in a table and just group the callouts and text boxes with arrows.Slgc173Oct 09, 2025Copper Contributor11Views0likes1CommentSection Headers and Footers - 'Same as previous..'
Hi All Just seeing if anyone has a workaround for section headers and footers issue i'm having.... I have a document that multiple sections, each section has a 'Different First Page Header/Footer' as there are different header images for each section. The footer is pretty standard across the document - page numbers and specific document info... My document has..... (for example) Section 1: First Page Header/Footer (page 1) Section 1: (pages, 2, 3, 4, 5) Section 2: First Page Header/Footer (page 6) Section 2: (pages 7, 8, 9,10) and so on.... If i try 'Same as Previous' on 'Section 2 First Page' footer (page 6) it takes the footer text from 'Section 1 First Page', rather than Section 1: Page 5 If i try 'Same as Previous' on 'Section 2: Page 7' footer, it takes text from Section 1: Page 2, rather than Section 2: First Page: page 6 Is there any way of just making the footer continuous across the whole document? without changing the header which is different for each section.?? At the moment i'm having to edit each footer for each section which can be tiresome at best. Anyway, hope that makes sence Thanks for your help in advance. Good morning, I’m using Office 365 (Office 2019 at home). I wanted to ask if it’s possible in Word to create captions for images, including sub-captions, with all the corresponding indexes reflecting the hierarchy. I mean something similar to the photo below.GiacomoDBOct 09, 2025Copper Contributor67Views0likes4CommentsTable Properties for table inserted into Word document
Where can I find the default settings for Table in Word? Currently when I insert a table, I might find the row not wide enough. And often, it was because of the row height being set as "exactly" and I have to set it as "at least". Where can I set the default as "at least" so that it does not always use "exactly"?JennyT2070Oct 09, 2025Copper Contributor45Views0likes7CommentsVBA Code/possible
I have a document where I have tables, figures, and cross-reference tables, figures links to text. Currently, I and my team checks manually if all the links working and going to correct destinations. Such as when click on table 1 it takes it to table 1. This is extensive review and many times we miss it. Can I get help to create VBA code/run macro to check if all the links are working? is it even possible? Add-in tool? thanks and looking forward to have some solution.maiharOct 07, 2025Copper Contributor6Views0likes0CommentsDrop down menu linked to an Excel file
Hi! I would like to populate Word drop down menu to data stored in Excel spreadsheets. I found a post (https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/answers/questions/5448059/drop-down-menu-linked-to-a-file) in https://learn.microsoft.com showing how to get it done, but I'm new to VBA and need a more detailed explanation. The last line in that post reads, "For a step-by-step guide, you can check out this tutorial on linking Excel drop-down lists to Word.", but no link to that step-by-step guide is provided. Please, do you know where that guide, or any other helpful manual, is available? Hi all, On Reddit there is https://www.reddit.com/r/MicrosoftWord/comments/14nz09o/huge_gaps_between_page_in_multiple_page_view/ going on where a quiet unnecessary solution is proposed to an even more unnecessary problem: when viewing multiple pages at once there is a huge gap in between. When I zoom in to more than 107% (in my set-up 2k display, 100% zoom) it aligns all pages underneath each other (one page below the other), instead of displaying it as I want it to 2-2. Zoom 107% Zoom 108% All of the above happens to me in a document that someone else has shared with me to review. When I create my own document I do not have this issue: I can zoom to at least 128% (even further) before the pages are rearranged. Does anybody know if I and all other people on Reddit are missing a setting by which we can simply prevent this from happening? Thank you!Rini_la_GasseOct 06, 2025Copper Contributor3KViews0likes2CommentsS Pen on tablet writing as an image
Hi there, I need some help with my S Pen on my Samsung Tablet. Whenever I try to write something on Word, it will automatically turn my text into a drawing/image. Is there anyway I can write stuff without that drawing box around my text? I've seen some online comments saying to press esc and open "options" on the app menu, but that option is not available on tablets, only on PCs. Thank you so much, CamilacamilacohenOct 05, 2025Copper Contributor21Views0likes1CommentWord Online on Lenovo Yoga Tablet Plus (Android 15): Lines Disappears
Description: I am experiencing a device-specific issue in Microsoft Word Online using both Edge and Chrome browsers on my Lenovo Yoga Tabl Plus (Android 15, Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, 16GB RAM, 13 Inch Screen). Issue details: - When I press the Enter key, the current line disappears. - Pressing the up or down arrow keys causes the cursor to jump two lines at a time, and the line at the cursor also disappears. - This behavior is repeatable, disrupts editing, and results in loss of text. What I have tried so far: - Tested both Edge and Chrome browsers (latest versions, desktop mode); same result. - Tried Gboard, Microsoft SwiftKey, and a physical keyboard; problem persists. - Disabled Predictive Text, Text Magnification, Text Auto-correction, and all similar features. - Cleared browser cache and cookies. - Tried Incognito/Private mode in both browsers. - Issue occurs in all documents in Word Online, not just specific files. - Excel Online and PowerPoint Online do *not* have this problem on the same device. - The issue does *not* occur when using Word Online on my Samsung S24 Ultra (Android 15) or Ubuntu laptop. - The native Word app is unaffected, but lacks some needed features. - I have the Microsoft Subscription and use it in my Desktop (Win 11). The tablet is for my travel. This appears to be a rendering or input handling bug specific to Word Online with my device/browser combo. Any suggestions or is there any known workaround until this bug is addressed? Thank you for your help!vkasriOct 05, 2025Copper Contributor59Views0likes1Comment
