Word won't open on mac
Hi, For the last couple of days, the word app on my mac won't open. It bounces after clicking in the icon and then nothing happens. I have to force the app to shut down. All the other office apps are working fine. I downloaded the latest version of Mac OS. What should I do to fix this? Thanks
Switching off comment notifications in word documents
Hi - is it possible to turn off email notifications for replies to comments in a word document? We seem to get a notification about new comments every time the document is saved, and as Word autosaves, this is getting to be fairly frequent on large documents with lots of discussion! We actually don't need to be emailed at all so if there's a way to disable the notifications altogether that would be great.
Word: table splitting across pages
I have a table in word, I want all the rows of the table to remain in the same page when new lines are added above it. i.e. if of four rows, the last table won't fit in the page, the whole table should move to the next page. I have followed the following steps: Table properties>row> uncheck 'Allow rows to break across pages' Select all rows of table and then Paragraph>line and Page breaks> check 'Keep with next' For some reason the table still splits across pages Note: The rows on the table have different heights
Splitting alignment on the same line in Word
I'm trying to do something that I can't figure out how to do, I'm not even sure it's even possible. I'm trying to split the alignment on a single line so that a few words are left aligned and then a few words are right aligned, leaving a large gap in between. I have it set up right now with tabs, but the second set of words on the right-hand side are a different length and does not have the effect that's needed for the document. There are numerous lines that have this formatting and even thinking about the time required to set up customized tabs and spacing for each individual line threatens to give me an anxiety attack. Is there a way to split the alignment on a single line and I'm just missing how? Thank you in advance!
Simply cannot delete a section break. It is impossible. Cannot be done. Please prove me wrong.
So I was introduced to section breaks as a means of getting page numbering up-to-spec for book I've written (roman. numerals in the front material, arabic numerals in the book itself). I'm using the latest version of Word (16.8?) on Mac. To my horror, I've found that it is impossible to delete section breaks once they're in my document. I have spend an entire day in Google on this subject, and every single suggestion fails. So I have enabled showing markup, so I can see page breaks, section breaks, paragraphs I cannot select a section break. Word will not allow that. So I can't select and delete it. I cannot put the cursor after a section break and then hit the delete button as many suggest. Word will not allow the cursor to be placed after a section break. Putting the cursor before the section break, as other articles recommend, is just wrong. All you're doing there is deleting text before the section break. Why is this so hard? I've lost a whole day on something that should be simple. In the screenshot from my document below, The section break simply cannot be touched.
Posible to copy/paste a text with visable changes?
Hi. I'm editing a manuscript in Word with the "Track changes"-function activated. Does anybody know if it's possible to copy a text from one document and paste it into another and keep the red-marked changes in the text? When I try to do this, the text follows into the new document. The changes I've made stays in the text, but they are no longer visible. ElinCan't adjust table column width
Working in windows 10, MS Word 2019 and built a pretty long table with 4 columns. Unable to keep columns adjusted to a new width. I tried all the standard procedures in MS Word, and even went on the Net searching for an answer to no avail. For example, a new adjusted column width won't keep the new width, but reverts to the previous width. I've tried Autofit until I'm blue in the face. The real kick in-the-butt is when I try to change a column width and whole table spreads out like the field of dreams, waiting for the players to come back out of the corn field, but they don't!! Any help will be appreciated to fix problem.
Language settings in Word online
Is there a way to make the default dictionary/spelling language in Word Online not US and honour the actual regional settings of the tenant/user? It's quite annoying in an English (UK) environment as users don't always spot the difference. Particularly problematic in an education setting where it's telling students that "colour" etc are wrong.
Tabel of contents shows wrong page numbers
Dear experts, I have a problem with my table of contents. The appendix shows the pagenumbers out of order. I think this is because I added a "end of section" so i could have some pages horizontal so i could show some tables in full size. Any tips on how to get the pagenumbers in order? Sincerely, Esli
