29 TopicsWord Online is the worst program I have ever used.
I understand that this is a free software, but the fact that I can't align two images next to each other at the same height is so bafflingly moronic it almost brings me to tears. Can you please remove this software offering and strop tricking people in to believing that this is a useable product. Microsoft sucks. We'll see how long this post lasts on the forum.206Views2likes2CommentsFormatting and Using Footer in Word
I am creating process documentation that has one main document that lists out the different categories of processes and each category links to a different document that has different processes for that category. Each document has a footer that contains links and a page number. To create these, I used the Blank (Three Columns) layout, erased the first text area, typed in the text/links into the middle, erased the text in the third column, and then added a Page Number from the Current Position. I have a few questions here: When I open this document in OneDrive and in SharePoint, it opens up in my browser and the formatting is completely lost (first photo). I tried to recreate it using Word Online but I can only get it to look like the second picture. I would like everything inline rather than on a separate line. How do I achieve this so I can have a consistent look across both versions? Ideally, I would like the different documents to open in the same version of Word as the main document. For example, if I have the main document open in desktop Word, I want the other links to open in the desktop version, not in browser. Is there a way to configure the URL to do this? I want to be able to click the links in the footer without actually clicking into the footer and clicking them from there. Is that possible without saving this as a PDF? I've attached two documents that show an example of what I'm working with. The only main difference is that all the links are going to be linking to Word documents hosted on a SharePoint site rather than the dummy URLs I used. Any help is appreciated here.Solved132Views0likes3CommentsAdd a signature field and restrict editing
Hi, We're looking for a way to add a signature box where a user can draw or sign while the document is restricted. The user should be able to sign using Word Online, Desktop App, Tablet and Mobile. Please let us know the best way to achieve this.335Views0likes0CommentsCannot Pin Online Word Document to Recent Files List in Word 2019
Hello! I am co-authoring a large document with several different users in Word. We started several years ago using Word 2013. I uploaded the document to our SharePoint so we could all edit collaboratively. I pinned the online document to the top of my recent documents list to make it easily accessible by just opening Word. This worked flawlessly for years, but my organization just made us update to 2019 and it seems as though I can no longer pin online/shared documents to the recent list! Non-shared files, even those stored on a network drive and not on my local machine, pin just fine. Is there a setting I need to tweak somewhere to get back this capability? Or was there a change made and this useful capability is no longer available? Thanks!1.3KViews1like2CommentsText in Word shifts to next page upon saving to PDF

Hi everyone, I have an Office 365 Subscription and so I use the online version of Word for my work, I've done so for a number of months. All of a sudden today all of my maths equations stopped rendering. Now all I see, if I try to use the equation editor, is a grey box that says [Equation]. This is true for new documents and also all of my old documents that included equations. I've tried logging in and out again and tried on Chorome and Safari. I lean on this function quite heavily for my work so any help would be appreciated.Solved30KViews1like17CommentsUsing Canvas for Figures creates large files
Hello, I am looking for a solution / help regarding file sizes. To describe the problem I'm facing: We have a lot of Word documents describing different tasks. The documents contain a lot of pictures, some with many inserted shapes to highlight / point to a certain things. Currently I use Drawing Canvas to keep the pictures and shapes in place and not to fall apart when editing. The problem is, doing it this way, the file size dramatically increases. I have compared the same document with figures in Canvas and another with pictures inserted without Canvas, the size increases drastically (e.g. form 10MB to 120MB). Some things i've tried: -Not using Canvas - obvious, but the shapes and figures do tend to fall apart, leaving small shapes scattered in the document. The documents are edited by many users with different levels of Word knowledge and attention to detail, thus rendering this solution unviable. -Using Tables to anchor the shapes - this also proved unviable, because when deleting a picture from the table, the cells resize regardless of the shapes (which are still anchored to the table itself, but are now outside of the table overlapping a text), and when deleting the Table, the shapes remain. -Inserting already edited pictures - while this solves the problem with shapes, it is also unviable, because the shapes often changes. Creating a collection of stock pictures that can be re-edited to suit changes could resolve this, but there are thousands of different pictures, so that would be counterproductive. -Using an alternative software to Word - unviable due to internal restrictions...and the fact that almost everyone has at least some experience with Word to be able to edit a document. -Compression of pictures - that is the only "kind of" working solution, but another problem was discovered. When trying to compress all pictures and deselecting the option to "Apply only to this picture", strangely not all pictures get compressed. When multiple pictures are in a Canvas, only one picture gets compressed. When pictures are "Grouped" with shapes, sometimes the compression skips them entirely. Hopefully my description of problems is understandable... Thank you all in advance 🙂790Views1like2CommentsPacote Office Online com problema
