Calendar view missing from "My task"
Hi, My Planner app was updated this morning and I am at a loss of words. The main feature I used and my colleagues used was the calendar view in the "Hub" section. However, this is no longer available. I now no longer have access to the "Hub" section that allowed me to see a calendar view of all my tasks, in all my plans, in a single place. The new "My plans" section feels like a cheap version of the hub that is now just an inefficient to-do list with custom backgrounds rather than a great task visualizer. Also, I feel like there are some tasks missing since the update as the list is suspiciously low. The plans that aren't pinned are also no longer on the side bar, which renders them absolutely useless rather than a lower priority (as they were before). Is there any way to go back to the old version of Planner? This update has rendered the app and website completely useless for me and my team. An absolute shame of an update for a software that multiple people are dependent on and often, due to institutional rules, stuck with. I am deeply disappointed by this update and will probably lose a few hours of work looking for and setting up another task management tool that actually works and is accepted by my institution.FlorenceLBNov 08, 2024Copper Contributor233Views5likes5CommentsNew Planner stuck in dark mode and can't change per-plan backgrounds
Was changed to the new Planner today. I can't figure out how to get it back to light mode. Used to be able to change it in the webapp, but I can't see a feature for it. Also, each plan used to have its own background. That feature seems to have disappeared as well.BrettR20Nov 08, 2024Copper Contributor1.7KViews5likes9CommentsRevert to old Planner?
As of today, the new Planner version has been rolled out for our organisation. MS Planner is pretty much the most important tool for our project management. With the update, we can no longer copy plans without deleting all tags. In our organisation, the tags assign the responsible department to the respective tasks. This makes them extremely important. "Template Plan": Plan after we did a copy&paste: Even the Tags have to be renamed: Is there a way to revert to the old Planner? Is Microsoft aware of this problem? I want to start using Planner but my admin has turned off the ability to create new groups. They will object to changing that because Planner could create near-infinite groups for the various combinations of our 28,000 employees. How do other institutions handle this?aronkuchNov 08, 2024Occasional Reader11Views0likes1CommentCopy paste images into planner tasks
Since 2020 we are asking for this function which is more or less a standard feature. Do a screenshot with the snipping tool and copy paste it into a planer task without having to use that attachment button out of the 90es.Alexander_Silvester80Nov 08, 2024Copper Contributor1.2KViews3likes5CommentsPlanner - Save Settings
We use Planner throughout the organization...more for task management than project management. The filtering and grouping is very useful and would be helpful if those settings could be saved by user. Often when meeting with a group to review open items, we will filter and/or group tasks. However, when we move to a different tab and then return, Planner returns to the default setting.BillScribnerNov 08, 2024Copper Contributor21KViews11likes16CommentsBoard View Missing for "My Tasks"
Hi there, We have adopted Microsoft Teams & Planner over the last two years for project management of high volume residential construction projects. We have become very reliant on the "Board View" within Planner. Each user has historically been able within Teams to view all tasks assigned to them across all Teams in the My Tasks tab of the Planner app, and the tasks show up as "tiles". We have become heavy users of the "show on card" functionality to ensure that multiple assignees can keep track of tasks concurrently. We are concerned as several of our users appear to have had changes to their desktop apps in the last two days which has added the new "list" view associated with the amalgamation of To Do and Planner (ie. the new "Tasks" app). What is most concerning is that the Board view appears to be restricted to each individual Team now, and we cannot see how to replicate the former combined Board view (for all Teams together) that we have become so reliant on. We would appreciate prompt attention to this item - at this point if we cannot get this resolved, we may be forced to look into alternate task management platforms that provide more fluid access to tasks across multiple Teams concurrently. I have attached a photo of the "old view" which is preferred (Board view showing My Tasks across ALL teams concurrently) VS. the "new list view" which for us is problemmatic. Hi, I'm wondering if it's possible to automatically create a Planner Premium task from a Teams post. I've spent a day trying to bottom this out, and I've had no luck. I tried using PowerAutomate with the Dataverse connector, but it seems like adding a new row to the Project Tasks table in Dataverse isnota supported way to create new tasks. If this is supported, is there documentation on how to do this? This is a very simple process in Basic plans - doesn't make sense that it's so hard to do this in a product I'm paying for!davidrhoadsNov 07, 2024Copper Contributor210Views3likes3Comments@mentions in Microsoft Planner
Introducing @Mentions in Microsoft Planner: A Game-Changer for Task Management At No More Bad Mondays, we're all about making your workday smoother and more productive. Today, we're thrilled to share a solution that addresses a common pain point in Microsoft Planner: the lack of an @mention function in comments. We've developed a solution that enhances your commenting notification capabilities and ensures that your team stays informed and engaged. Here's how our new free download can transform your task management experience. The Challenge Microsoft Planner is an excellent task management tool, but it's been missing a feature that many users have been requesting: the ability to @mention team members within comments. Without this feature, reaching someone to update on a task can be challenging, especially when Planners standard notifications can sometimes be overlooked or in many cases, not actually reach them! The Solution Imagine you've assigned a task to your team and want to follow up with a specific member. You might comment, "How are you getting on with this one David?" but in Planner, this won’t notify David directly. That’s where our new Power Automate solution comes in. With our solution, when you add an @ in a Planner comment, the following happens: Teams Notification: The relevant staff member receives a Microsoft Teams notification with the comment you posted, including the task name and a direct link back to the task. Clean Communication: The @mention is automatically removed from the Teams message, keeping things neat and focused. Personal Touch: The notification is sent from the person who posted the comment, ensuring a personal touch. This solution not only improves comment notifications but also ensures that the right person is always aware when someone has left a comment on a task. How to Get Started Download the Solution: Grab our Power Automate solution for free. Configure: You'll need to update the solution to point to the relevant Plan you want to monitor. It will then work for all tasks within that Plan, old and new. Multi-Plan Use: Feel free to use it across multiple Plans within Microsoft Planner for comprehensive coverage. Share the Love We’re excited to offer this solution free, but we’d appreciate your support. If you find our solution helpful, please share this post or a link to(external link removed by moderator)on your social media and within your organisation. Hi, While trying to export a project from the Project Web App (as part of the Planner Premium), one would expect some backwards compatibility with MS project desktop app (legacy software...). One must export to Excel first to be able to import the excel file into MS project desktop app. But this does not work at all... many, many tweaks and modifications of the Excel sheet (tab names, field names, outline level numbering, etc) are necessary to hope some sort of "clean" import. Considering the many limitation that PWA exhibits, a scenario where user hits limitations and want to migrate to full featured desktop app sounds reasonable and desirable. Migration should be native.
