Cannot see Task Chat for Planner app on iPhone
Hi, I am testing using the Planner app and have added a message in the Task Chat area via the web browser on a PC. I cannot see the message on the Planner app on the iPhone. I cannot see Task Chat anywhere on the iPhone. I can create a new message in the Comments section on the iPhone (in the Planner app), but cannot add comments using the web browser on a PC. The web browser wants me to use Task Chat, but cannot see that on the iPhone. Am I missing something simple here? Thanks Matt41Views1like1CommentConnecting Planner tasks to employee goals/OKRs - anyone figured this out?
My manager wants us to tie our daily Planner tasks back to our quarterly OKRs but theres no native way to do this. I spent a couple hours trying to set up a Power Automate flow that updates an Excel tracker whenever a Planner task gets completed but it feels hacky. Is there a cleaner way to connect what people are actually doing in Planner to higher level goals?112Views0likes2CommentsPlanner Integration with Loop Tasks
Need some guidance - We are starting to use Planner to keep track of a large number of tasks. Currently planner is setup with: Approx 10 buckets (in kanban view), and a list of tasks below each. We are using this mainly just for tasks, so the Timeline view isn't needed. We want to connect tasks recorded in Teams meetings, and in Loop to our main Planner. Whats the best work around for this? When using Loop, and we create a task and we connect it to Planner, it will create a new Plan and put the tasks under that. To me, this is dysfunctional, because we want all tasks to be under the main Plan in Planner. I like to use the GRID view of the Plan, which enables me to make subtasks under the main tasks, but others prefer to use the kanban view. However you can't see the subtasks that are under the "main task" like in Grid view. There's lots of videos showing how these parts of Teams work together, but in reality, it doesn't really work that well when it scatters tasks created in different parts to different Planners. Any suggestions would be helpful, and thank you in advance for your help. Jim2.4KViews3likes7Comments2026.02.20 - Planner UI update is worse
The UI changes to Planner within the latest Teams desktop app update (version 26032.208.4399.5) has regressed in its functionality and is worse than before. Previously, all of the contents of an item in the Planner were visible at the same time. Now I have to tab between Task Details, Attachments and Checklist, and am unable to view these at once, which has become a critical workflow for me. It is extremely irritating, as I've developed a workflow around how Planner was presented (which was that everything within a task was visible at once), and now it has been compartmentalised. Please unwind this - it is a regressive update and provides less information and requires more interaction to work through the detail of a task.3.2KViews28likes21CommentsNotifications settings missing
Hello, M365 Business Standard, global admin I've created a couple of plans in Planner for a couple of users, however we don't receive any notification when a new task is created or completed. Let's say I create a task - I assign this task to another user - the users completes the task - I don't get any notification. How come? It's like basic functionality, so I assume there must be something wrong with the set up. In the web I found a couple of screenshots of the setttings but they are not available in my view: My view: What am I missing ? Is it possible to check/change the setting via powershell ?44Views1like0CommentsPlanner Plan 3 Subscription Cancelation and refund.
Hello. I have Microsoft planner plan 3 subscription which expired and has been automatically renewed which is against my intention , I tried to communicate with Microsoft support through email , live chat , phone call but without any positive progress , on phone they have an AI agent which is wasting of time , in live chat they just pass you to another departments and share wrong email address . I have been trying to fix this issue since the first day of subscription renewal but so far nothing . The subscription is under a twin alias email which I don't have access to and there is no admin , the email is under onmicrosoft domain. I need a urgent quick help for this issue so that I can get refund .18Views0likes0CommentsIs there any way to connect Planner tasks to OKRs or company goals?
We use Planner for task management, and there's no native way to tie a Planner task to a higher-level goal. I looked into Power Automate but the Planner connector doesnt have a field for "parent objective" or anything like that. Are other orgs just using spreadsheets for this? Feels like there should be a better way.88Views0likes1CommentUpdated 2026 Planner Issues
The new Planner initially seemed really great and useful, but over the past month a series of problems have occurred that make it difficult to use. I have already reported everything to Microsoft, but so far no support agent has been able to help me. The issues are as follows: When I tag a colleague in the chat, they do not receive the email with the message content — this is a feature that is supposed to work by design and was working fine until last month. Often when I try to type in the chat, it either doesn't type at all, or it types in a different task. When I click in a chat, it automatically tags all the people previously mentioned, or if I want to tag just one person, it ends up tagging all the others as well. Are you experiencing these issues too?132Views0likes0CommentsImprove readability of Task Chat in new Microsoft Planner (full-width option needed)
Hello, First of all, thank you for the new Planner experience and the introduction of Task Chat. I think it’s a very welcome improvement over the legacy comments system, because it allows to edit already posted comments. However, there is a significant usability issue that is affecting our daily work: 👉 The Task Chat is displayed in a narrow side panel, which makes reading longer conversations difficult and inefficient. In many real scenarios, task discussions are not just short comments. They often include detailed explanations, decisions, or back-and-forth exchanges between team members. The current layout forces users to read long messages in a very constrained width, which reduces readability and slows down collaboration. Suggested improvement: (preferred) Provide an option to expand Task Chat to full width -maybe another button like the one that already exists for 'Comments'- (or open it in a larger, dedicated view) Alternatively, allow resizing of the chat panel Even a “pop-out” experience (similar to Teams chat) would be helpful This would significantly improve usability, especially for teams, like mine, that rely heavily on Planner for collaborative work and decision tracking. Thanks for considering this feedback. I believe this change would greatly enhance the new Planner experience.112Views4likes0CommentsNew Planner UI - What problem is actually being resolved?
This new UI is a step backwards. I get that people naturally resist change at first, but Microsoft keeps making interfaces more spaced out and less information-dense, which is frustrating in a business environment where efficiency matters. I can now only see about half of what fit on screen before. Even my Planner board headers are cut off because the font sizes and spacing have been increased unnecessarily. Microsoft has a bad habit of redesigning UIs without solving an actual problem. A lot of these changes feel like they’re being made by people who don’t actively use the tools day to day in real working environments.238Views6likes1Commenthow to view all Tasks Assigned To a Single Person at once
It is a must feature for any manager or person who assigns a certain task or tasks to multiple people without this feature, god know-how will a person/ manager distinguish any what tasks he/she has assigned to one person. Please help me find this feature or if it's not there yet I guess everyone will find it important and useful.5.2KViews0likes5CommentsPlanner broken, or unusable?
Since late last week, Planner has become increasingly unusable. Buckets are being dragged out of position when right-clicking in an empty space to scroll left or right. Today, performance has deteriorated even further—opening a card now takes around 30 seconds or more, and adding comments is nearly impossible due to severe lag. This issue is affecting everyone in our organisation. Does anyone know if Microsoft is actively working on a fix for these problems?4.4KViews16likes12Comments- 48Views0likes0Comments
Frustrations with the New Planner Update
I was looking forward to the new Planner update, but instead of improvements, I’m seeing several changes that have negatively impacted my team’s workflow. Here are the main issues: "Assigned to Me" View: Previously, this view acted as a personal Planner automatically grouped by buckets, which was really helpful. Now, it’s been replaced with a simple list view, and the "Schedule" view for personal tasks has also been removed. Copying Plans: In the previous version, we could copy a plan and retain all the tags we'd created. Now, when copying a plan, the tasks no longer retain these tags, and when attempting to reassign them, the tags aren’t available in the copied plan. These changes have made it more challenging for us to manage tasks effectively. Is there any way to revert to the previous version of Planner or enable these features again?4.8KViews26likes28Commentsusers with office 365 E5 license can access the planner premium
I have a question if users with office 365 E5 license can access the planner premium but not all of its features? or they can not have any access at all? i read this documentation https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/planner/understand-planner-trial-and-license-assignments but i felt a bit confused? if Office 365 E5 users can access some features of the Planner Premium? or they can only access the standard planner, can anyone explain this in more details? the license requirements for planner premium? Thanks84Views0likes0CommentsUpcoming Planner release @chat feature
in the upcoming release of Planner features, it mentions that the comments will be replaced with a chat. Do I assume that the chat and @mentions are tied to who is assigned to the Task? ie. if the Task is assigned to Mary, will I be able to type Mary but I won't be able to type John (as John is not assigned the task)? Tasks chats in basic plans will allow team members to collaborate directly on tasks using rich text formatting and @mentions, making it easier to discuss work and notify teammates about what needs attention.1.6KViews4likes12CommentsWay to see all Planner tasks assigned to a team member?
Is there a way to see all project tasks assigned to a team member? Or is this functionality on the radar? I can see all my assigned tasks, and I can see tasks by person by project, but as a manager, I would like a way to see all tasks assigned to my team members across all of their projects/functional areas, so that we can quickly evaluate their current workload, reprioritize and assign new tasks accordingly. What I'm thinking is that there would be a filter option to see buckets by team member of their collective project tasks, like the view currently available right now by individual projects. Interested in the capability to overlay multiple projects. Thanks!58KViews29likes45CommentsPlanner conversations and filtering issues
Hi Everyone, I am really puzzled about Planner in it's current form and I hope someone here can point me to the thing I am missing here. I have a big project on hand with a big team and I initiated using planners to get this sorted. In the past I have used many solutions but since the company is Microsoft Foccused the Microsoft Planner seems the right way. Every plan I open starts with loads of completed tasks in sight. Of course I can filter them out, but besided the hassle of having to do that every time it also breaks the functionality of adding subtasks. I have to undo the filter, dive trough a list of stuff that's already been completed, at the subtask, reinstate the filter. We are talking about a paid planning solution here..... Secondly I can not get the task conversation to work. We used this alot before we had a premium subscription and now the function seems broken. I have been through the hassle of copying the planner and adding it to a new Teams channel, but still no dice. When I click the conversation button. Nothing happens. I tried opening the planner in the browser and making it link itself back to it's channel, but no dice. Our fairly easy planning needs are resulting in loads of headace right now and I really hope there is something I am missing and this isn't just what it is.. Every tip wil be much appreciated.
