Planner Plan 1 features missing
I'm on a trial of Planner Plan 1 but don't see the features such as Timeline view, project goals or task dependencies. I don't see anything that makes this worth paying a monthly subscription for - is anyone else on this plan able to confirm if they can see these features?

Richardb135 I worked out the problem on my side.
It was a misunderstanding. I was expecting those features to switch on for my existing plans.
That's not the case. You have to either create or convert a plan into a project before you see those features.
It's not clearly communicated but now I've done it, it seems obvious in hindsight.
- In the left-hand toolbar of Teams, go to the ...
- Add Planner
- From planner interface in the top-right, select + New plan
- In the interface you should see an option for 'Premium'
- You can select a template for testing (I chose Software Development) and it gives you two options: Basic, and Premium.
- Premium is the option that gives you timelines and such.
- It took ages for the first project I was playing with to get up and running, and I had to restart Teams to view it.
- But now it's there and all the functionality is present.
Additionally, in the browser app, I think there's an option for importing an existing plan as a premium plan. That's how I found the pathway to get this working.
Not sure if that'll solve the problem for you, but solved it for me.

Would not have worked it out without this post! Thank you!
Was not expecting to hop out of planner into project and mine also took forever to setup the first time.
I didn't do it from teams, I just went straight to + New Plan from Planner

This is a terrible customer experience created by Microsoft. No idea how to figure out how to "tap into" this free trial of Planner Plan 1. I went into Teams > Planner, and I do not have a "+New Plan" option, as suggested in the steps above posted by user dan2140 . I have gone to Office.com to see if I have a new app listed there or something that indicates how to access these additional features. Nope. No confirmation email from MS with instructions or next steps or how-tos. This should not be this difficult. And I am not computer illiterate. And I cannot contact MS Support because I am not an admin. I have wasted way too much time trying to figure out how to access the upgraded features, I can only imagine how wonderful the upgraded features work in the platform. Planner is a lackluster platform on its own, so I wanted to test out the upgrade to Plan 1 for our department and see if it's any more useful. Anyone else have insights into how to access the Plan 1 upgraded features in Planner??
- thosorCopper ContributorThank you very much. You are truely right. This was not communicated very clearly. 🙂

Richardb135 I'm having the same problem. Trial experience so far hasn't been great.
