emails missing

Hi experts

One of my users wants 2016 mails. he has checked his mailbox and in archive folder he could see only 10 sent emails i have exported 2016 mails pst using in place ediscovery and hold and when i look into csv file i  can see only10 sent emails. Its highly impossible that user has just sent 10 email in 2016. Are any emails missing how do i further troubleshoot this.

Solution
You probably have a rule exporting to an archive mailbox which might do it by default for 2 years. Make sure your search and or your user are using the Archive mailbox and not the archive folder, which are 2 different things. The Archive mailbox is where archives will be moved to after a designated time.
