BitLocker encrypted fixed drives after BIOS update with no warning
OS: Windows 11 Pro 25H2 Build 26200.8037 M/B: Asus TUF Gaming B850M-Plus Wifi I had been running a BIOS version which is about 1 year old on a fairly recent motherboard model. I have always had an issue show up where PCR7 binding was not possible. I only run under a local account and did not want BitLocker on anyway so no big deal. The few days ago, I updated the BIOS to a later version (not the latest). Yesterday I happened to notice that my drives were all encrypted XTS-AES 128, although BitLocker was not set up. Checking the event viewer, I saw BitLocker-API messages to confirm that starting right after the BIOS update Windows decided, with no warning or indication, to encrypt all my drives. I went to the Settings Drive encryption page (which was not even available before the BIOS update) and say Drive encryption was on. So I turned it off. The BIOS update must have fixed the PCR7 issue. Microsoft does know about this machine since I use a subscription to Microsoft-365, but Windows is only running under a Local account. So is this expected behavior that Windows would just willy-nilly encrypt my drives without telling me? What I read tells me it should not have. What's the best way to prevent this?AZBrunoApr 10, 2026Copper Contributor8Views0likes0CommentsHow do I completely uninstall microsoft edge in windows 11?
Hi, The Microsoft Edge browser has been consuming a lot of CPU and RAM on my Windows 11 computer lately, even when only a few tabs are open. It's starting to slow things down, especially during multitasking, and the built-in browser keeps running in the background. Tried removing it through windows 11 settings and control panel, but the uninstall option is greyed out for system app like edge. Is there a reliable way to completely uninstall microsoft edge browser from Windows 11, or at least stop it from running and using resources?LarkinFoxApr 10, 2026Iron Contributor83Views0likes8CommentsWhat is the best ai photo editor for windows 11 right now?

I mostly want something that can do things like background removal, photo enhancement, and maybe some quick AI edits without spending hours learning complicated tools. So I'm curious what is the best ai photo editor for windows 11? Looking for something fast, beginner-friendly, and not crazy expensive. Would love to hear real recommendations or what to avoid!TristanLewisApr 10, 2026Iron Contributor65Views0likes9CommentsWhat is the best disk management tool for windows 11 or windows 10
I'm currently using a Dell laptop running Windows 11, and I've been trying to manage my disk partitions more efficiently. The built-in Disk Management tool works for basic tasks, but it feels quite limited when it comes to resizing partitions, merging drives, or handling more advanced operations. I also want something safe and easy to use since I have important data on my system. What is the best disk management tool for Windows 11 or Windows 10. Preferably something reliable, user-friendly, and capable of handling advanced tasks without risking data loss. Any suggestions or personal experiences would be really helpful. Thanks in advance!EzraKnightApr 09, 2026Iron Contributor77Views0likes8CommentsWhat is the best disk management tool for windows 11

I got this error when trying to copy a few movies from Windows 11 laptop to USB drive. The file is too large for the destination file system for usb transfer These are blu-ray HD videos and some of them are more than 5GB. Is this problem? I am now at a complete loss. I have been online with Windows support and after hours of trying to fix my problem they have told me they cant help and I should look for help elsewhere. This kind of feels weird and strange if Microsoft cant fix a Microsoft problem. I have Windows11 Pro (25H2) and cannot create a recovery drive. All the usual fixes have been tried and no joy. For example. Cannot down load Recover version to use. Have Downloaded both ISO English (USA & International) Cannot do a install as it say it cant confirm if my pc is compatible with windows11. It is of course and windows runs (Almost Well) currently. Have replaced install.wim also install.esd no success. Everything else was tried by Microsoft. Any comment would be very welcomed.Devware3Apr 08, 2026Copper Contributor16Views0likes1CommentIs windows disk cleanup tool good enough for freeing up space?
My Windows 11 laptop is now running out of free space. The internal ssd (256GB) only has 10GB free space. I have to free up more space to make the computer running faster. I heard Windows 11 has a built-in disk cleanup app. Is it a good idea to run Windows Disk Cleanup? The problem is that I just run the windows disk cleanup but only 5GB free space is cleared out. In fact, I selected things like temporary files, Recycle Bin, and Delivery Optimization Files. Are there any hidden options that make a big difference?UriahParkerApr 08, 2026Iron Contributor115Views1like9CommentsWhat is the best voice changer on windows pc discord gaming?
New to Discord gaming. I want to change my voice in real-time on Discord on my Windows 11 PC. Ideally, I NEEED something that sounds natural with low latency, but I'm also open to fun effects for trolling or role play. Free options are great, but I don't mind paying for quality if it's worth it. The voice changer I'm hoping for: Works with Discord without breaking after every update Low background noise / static Can map to a virtual microphone so I don't have to mess with cables Soundboard or additional effects would be a nice bonus What do you currently use, and why do you like it? Any setup tips or known issues I should watch out for?AsherBrooksApr 08, 2026Iron Contributor101Views0likes9Comments
