Hello, I'm unable to RDP from one W11 computer to another in a Active Directory domain environment. The error reported in the RDP app is: The login attempt failed. Your credentials did not work. I'm able to use the same credentials on a W10 computer and successfully RDP to the W11 'server' computer. There are no Event 4625 errors on the W11 'client' computer. There are no cached credentials on the client computer. I used Test-NetConnection -ComputerName $target -Port 3389 -InformationLevel Detailed RemoteAddress : 192.168.0.33 RemotePort : 3389 NameResolutionResults : 192.168.0.33 MatchingIPsecRules : NetworkIsolationContext : Private Network InterfaceAlias : Ethernet SourceAddress : 192.168.0.10 NetRoute (NextHop) : 0.0.0.0 TcpTestSucceeded : True I would appreciate suggestions on how to troubleshoot the authentication issue. I am responsible for some thirty Windows 11 PCs and laptops. They all have Teams installed, I presume because that is what Windows does, but only about five users - not including me - have Teams accounts. So how do I update Teams? In particular, I am concerned about this vulnerability: https://msrc.microsoft.com/update-guide/vulnerability/CVE-2025-53783 I am using ESET Protect to tell me whether the vulnerability is present on a device. The advisory itself has no security update, and just links to an article that says Teams will update itself. That has not happened. Windows Update is no help. There has been one feature update and four quality updates since that advisory came out, and none have resolved the issue. On some installs there is a three-dots button on the toolbar, and I can go to settings, and update from there. But the vulnerability is still there. Is it because Teams is installed on a per-user basis, and I am only updating one user? Most installs do not have the three-dots button, and I would need to log in to do an update, which I cannot do without a Teams account. Teams runs in the background, so users who have no Teams log in, who never use Teams, are (I assume) still vulnerable, because the out-of-date software is always running. So how do I update Teams?13Views0likes0CommentsCannot manage virus and Threat protection settings
It says, "this setting is managed by your administrator." while answering please refer to this: this is a screenshot after I have logged in with administrator. I have searched for any programs which might be causing this issue, but I couldn't find any. I haven't even found any threats. So why is this issue being caused?40Views0likes2CommentsFormatted laptop- even with right drivers cannot get a network connection
Started a new course, so I figured I’d format the laptop and get a fresh start. Downloaded the drivers of my laptop’s model onto a usb beforehand. Formatted the laptop and installed the drivers. No network connection. I see no options but airplane mode, and can’t even turn that on. No wifi network search button (the laptop is wifi only, no ethernet). I need to jump into a video lecture that evening, so in a panic I try a Debian install, and then an Ubuntu install (which I am on currently). Both automatically sort out a network connection for me without anything needing installing. Great to see from Linux, frustrating behaviour for MS as usual. Unfortunately I will need a Windows install for all the software I will need, or I would happily stay on Ubuntu. My question is, is there a free software that will magically sort me like Linux does for Windows? Something that tries a few different generic network drivers perchance?42Views0likes2CommentsWindows asks for Credentials after domain login
I don't know why, but I log into a Windows Active Directory domain. Group policy and drive mappings all apply correctly. Yet every 30 minutes or so a dialog box appears at the bottom of my screen: Windows Credentials needed. Please lock the screen and supply your password. I am writing it from memory but I how do I make this stop? Thanks.53Views0likes2CommentsDo you need to have Kernel-mode Hardware-enforced Stack Protection enabled to get 24H2?
I have Memory Integrity enabled under Core Isolation but I can’t enable Kernel-mode Hardware-enforced Stack Protection because apparently it doesn’t like Easy-Anticheat and I need that to play some of my games. Question is: Do I need to have Kernel-mode Hardware-enforced Stack Protection enabled to get the 24H2 update or not?23Views0likes0CommentsThere is a compatibility issue between the Gamefirst VI application and Windows Security.
Is the Gamefirst VI application infected with malware, or is this just the first false detection for it? With the latest updates from Microsoft, is there any reason to believe this application is malware-infested? What is the best approach to resolve this issue?9Views0likes0CommentsHow much to ditch in new W11pro install - for home server?
I was running W11 when they made it into an AI, US gov, privacy invaded, & ad infested inferno. Time to take back control. I will be moving to Linux in the future, but that is something for later in the autom when I have time, and can do it with media & file server working, so I have time to figure it all out, as I am a noob on Linux. I’ll be following this and some other guides on how to install a W11 without bloat, so its core OS functions only. Keeping the files avalible is key, and keeping others out.32Views1like1CommentPreparing Windows 11 for the end of Windows 10?
Windows 10 is going end of life this year. So I was wondering if we’ve settled on a standard method for cleaning up Windows 11. I’ve heard lots of horror stories about ads in the start menu, telemetry, search history scraping, and worst of all undoing and removing methods of blocking the garbage. Has the brave souls who’ve ventured into Windows 11 discovered the top 10 tips and tricks to making it not garbage?35Views0likes2Comments
