When I try and do the feature upgrade to 24H2 2026-05 on a Windows 10 era Dell PC (let's not get ahead of ourselves with 25H2!) the upgrade fails and rolls back. setupdiag points to Error: 0xc1900101-0x40017 SetupDiag reports rollback failure found. Last Phase = Post First Boot Last Operation = Ensure suspended services are stopped Error = 0xC1900101-0x40017 and googling suggests this is likely down to a driver. The PC in question has some realtek drivers which are seen as problematic but it is not clear what the resolution is there. How can I diagnose WHICH service or driver is causing the problem? Thank you Mark47Views0likes3CommentsDisplay driver crash to black screen
I just started having this issue within the last few weeks. A friend of mine is reporting similar issues using the 3D Blender app that started around the same timeframe. System works fine on most applications for hours. But select 3D applications cause inconsistent display driver crashing. Screen goes to black with no signal from the display port. Audio still runs in the background. Cannot recover via ALT+TAB, task manager, or WIN+CTRL+SHIFT+B. Have to power off the machine to have a chance to recover. What's odd is that a hard restart of the computer only occasionally resolves the issue. Sometimes the display driver never recovers on reboot. Sometimes it crashes to black during the display of the Windows sign in screen. Sometimes it recovers completely. In the worst case, I couldn't see the BIOS boot but could still hear the windows bootup chimes. So the system was booting up to the windows sign in screen. I disconnected the NVIDIA card and tried the integrated graphics port with the same result. After many restarts it recovered "magically" back to working with the NVIDIA card. Once the issue is recovered then the system is stable until I try one of the offending apps again. I've experienced this with Mechanicus II, Crimson Desert (played 100+ hrs before this issue started), Kingdom Come Deliverance II. Have experienced the crash anywhere between the initial splash screen, in ui menus, and during 3d play. Other 3d games still work. In terms of troubleshooting, I've completely uninstalled (using DDU) and reinstalled the GeForce driver many times, including trying at least 4 distinct version from April and May of 2026. Stress testing the graphics card (run NVIDIA optimizer) runs fine, no temp or voltage issues. Other apps work indefinitely. So I don't think it's a hardware issue. No reported issues on dxdiag. My best guess is a Windows<>GeForce Driver bug. Possibly related to Windows update 2026-05 .NET Framework Security Update (KB5087051). At least that matches the timing of when I started having the issue. I only changed driver versions after I started experiencing the issue. This sounds like a similar issue though it's a different update # -- https://www.pcworld.com/article/3137675/windows-11s-april-update-is-now-causing-pc-crashes-and-visual-glitches.html Operating System: Windows 11 Pro 64-bit (10.0, Build 26200) (26100.ge_release.240331-1435) System Model: Z590 AORUS PRO AX Card name: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 308029Views0likes1CommentFeedback on Windows 11
I've been a Windows customer since the beginning. I was doing computing back on the TSR-80, when we still saved information on audio tape. However, with the changes in the last few versions of Windows; I feel I can on longer use a Windows product. I've been using a Windows 11 system for several months now, and I've hated every time I had to use it. With the increase in non-optional "optional" and non-removable features; I've decided that it's time to move onto a Linux based system. Sincerely, a former Microsoft customer.14KViews19likes57CommentsGaming Laptop continues to crash and crash... can't find the root of the problem.
Hello everyone. I'm having a bit of an issue with my gaming laptop and no matter what I do, it doesn't seem to fully fix it. I'll try my best to describe it as much as possible and hopefully someone can point me in the right direction. So my laptop is the Gigabyte Aorus 15P KD. I've had it for I believe 5 years now. It's worked great for all my gaming and school needs. Mostly I've played VRChat on it and it's never gave me any real issues up until a couple of months ago. First I started noticing some of my games were lagging the more I played it and sometimes when it would crash if I played VRChat in VR. Not long ago I applied more thermal paste to it since the old thermal paste wasn't doing much. I reapplied the thermal paste and the temps went back to normal and the crashes kinda stopped for a while until recently. Realistically, most of the time if it does crash then it would be when I was on VRChat and the timing on the crash depends. It'll either last for hours then crash, or maybe 5 minutes. Rarely has it ever crashed on any other game playing a non-VR game, but it has happened. I can't seem to find the root of the problem. So far I've reapplied thermal paste and reinstalled windows but neither has helped much. When it crashes, the following happens. The laptop goes into the BSOD and is stuck at 0% or the laptop freezes for a while, goes into the BSOD and either fully reboots fine or gets stuck at 100% When I have gotten into the BSOD, these are some of the codes I get: DCP_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION (0X133) CLOCK_WATCHDOG_TIMEOUT (0X101) To be honest, my laptop could honestly have more than one issue. The biggest red flag I've seen from my laptop so far that is highest on my list is my SSD. I've used a program to check my SSD and according to the app, 25% health is "good." My biggest fear is buying a SSD to replace to old one just for the issue not to be solved. Can anyone please help me figure this out? Or point me in the right direction? I'll drop my specs below. 11th Gen Intel Core i7-11800 @ 2.30GHz NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 Laptop GPU 16GB of Ram About 500 GB of SSD4Views0likes0CommentsMy computer specs are pretty good—should I go with Windows 10 or 11?
My setup is a 12600KF with a MSI B760M motherboard, 32GB of RAM, a 1TB hard drive, and an XFX 3060 Ti. I mainly use it for coding, running services, and gaming (CS2, LoL, etc.). I’m torn between Windows 10 and Windows 11. If I go with Windows 11, should I choose 23H2, 24H2, or 25H2? Also, should I go with the Pro edition or another version? Looking for advice.33Views0likes2Comments25h2 Update forcing GPU to not be recognised by apps/games
As per title, this only recently happened with the up to date update from 5 days ago (I believe it was 5 days ago) and after this I noticed while trying to load up Subnautica 2 like I had done normally it was laggy and crashed, strange.. other games did the same (except some older DX9 titles), so I load up 3D Mark and noticed some of the test said I am not running compatible hardware not seeing my 4070 Ti Super. I reinstalled windows to a 23h2 state, and for 2 days no problems, then I thought ok maybe it was a silly glitch and then updated to 25h2 yesterday and everything was fine, until tonight it happened again, while playing I notice a sudden drop in fps and there it was again the same problem 3D Mark not recognising hardware but the day before it did, and Furmark doesn't even load.. and I noticed in Event Viewer some dll files are not loading either. The NVMe drive is fine no errors. This only happens in 25h2 and I am at a loss, because for a few months I was running 25h2 fine. Any insights or if people have experienced this and had fixes that would be great.88Views0likes3CommentsThirteen localized Dutch (nl-NL) issues in the latest Windows 11
