WINDOWS 11 TASKBAR SYSTEM TRAY ICONS KEEP MOVING OUT OF HIDDEN MENU
Hi all I have been setting up a new laptop with Windows 11 25H2 Build 26200.6584 and when I move system tray icons to the hiden menu, about 40 or 50 seconds later windows unhides them and there appear back on the task bar. It is driving me mad as the task bar looks to cluttered. If it is a known bug, is there a fix for this? According to google searches, this is a known bug and none of the suggested fixes work.. I have tried: Re-arrange Icons via Drag-and-Drop. Restart Windows Explorer. Disable Fast Startup. Rebuild the Icon Cache using CMD window as admin I tried to delete the icon cache so windows had to rebuild it but taskkill /IM explorer.exe /F del /A:H "%localappdata%\Microsoft\Windows\Explorer\iconcache*" start explorer.exe but it gave the error below. Microsoft Windows [Version 10.0.26200.6584] (c) Microsoft Corporation. All rights reserved. I have gone thru half a dozen "solutions" and they're all non-solutions. Most if not all lead to menus where the purported solution does not show, perhaps this is a question of versions. I created a shortcut on Windows11 Desktop. It is a shortcut to Windows Update. When clicked it runs correctly. The solution(s) I gathered say to right click the shortcut and expect a "Pin to Start menu" option to pop up. Well .... NONE did. Why is this seemingly simple and trivial functionality not failing on Windows 10? Would appreciate any guidance, tip or suggestion. Thanks in advance.RTan3591Dec 26, 2025Brass Contributor17Views0likes0CommentsMedia Player does not show preview on seek bar
You know how you hover your mouse along the bottom of the seek bar and as you move along the seek bar you get a preview of the content at that location. Youtube videos have the same thing. Well Window 11 Media Player does not show the preview as you move the cursor along the seek bar. I see no way to enable this through some setting. The settings menu in Media Player has no setting for this. I am pretty sure this worked at some point in time, I know it worked on my old Windows 10 7820X system that I retired in March. How do I get Windows 11 Media Player to show a preview of the content as I move the cursor along the seek bar?SendallDec 26, 2025Iron Contributor12Views0likes0CommentsWindows Family Safety, No Devices Connected
I want to add time limits on my kids windows pc, one has a win 11 desktop, and another one a windows 10 laptop, I've added my main account as an admin, and created 2 accounts from the desktops -> settings -> accounts -> family, they appeared on the family setting on the windows desktops, and I can also see them on my windows Family Safety app, but for some reason, on the Family Safety App, I don't see any devices, and when I go to " How to connect a device", the steps outlined there literally don't work, since I don't see an allow button, on either the admin user, or the secondary user. But when I go to microsoft accounts I created for my kids, under devices, the devices are there, but on Microsoft Family Safety app they don't appear, which is so weird and annoying. I've been testing different things for the past couple of weeks and nothing worked. I've also contacted support, and even got escalated to tier 2 tech support, which did nothing, because the tech support told me to basically do a google search on this problem. Am I the only one having this issue?Alexandru1Dec 25, 2025Copper Contributor6Views0likes0CommentsProposal: Add an optional “Legacy Hardware Mode” to Windows 11 installation
I would like to propose an optional “Legacy Hardware Mode” that allows Windows 11 to be installed on unsupported devices through a clear, opt‑in installation path. Many users still rely on older but fully functional hardware that does not meet Windows 11’s strict requirements (such as TPM 2.0 or CPU generation). Today, these users often turn to third‑party bypass tools, which creates several challenges: • Microsoft receives no telemetry from these installations • Users may unknowingly compromise security or stability • There is no official, transparent way to proceed • Support expectations become unclear Proposed solution Introduce an optional installation mode that: • Presents a clear disclaimer outlining risks • Allows the user to accept responsibility and continue • Installs Windows 11 normally, without third‑party bypass tools • Displays a small “unsupported hardware” note in Settings (similar to Insider builds) This approach maintains Microsoft’s security posture while giving users a legitimate, transparent upgrade path for legacy devices. Why these matters • Extends the usable life of older hardware • Reduces reliance on unofficial tools • Improves transparency and user trust • Helps users who want Windows 11 but cannot meet the strict hardware checks I’ve also submitted this idea through the Feedback Hub for visibility: 👉 https://aka.ms/AAz3mz6 Thank you for considering this suggestion.SelaromYarDec 25, 2025Copper Contributor3Views0likes0Commentswhat linux has the best openGL support?

Hi everyone, I’m facing a few strange issues on Windows 11 that seem to be limited only to my main user profile, and I’m hoping to fix them without creating a new profile and migrating all my data. Settings > Apps > Advanced app settings: I see a sign-in-related issue & an error code 0x80860010. The lock screen is skipped when the PC starts. On power-on or restart, the lock screen flashes for a split second, and then Windows directly goes to the PIN entry screen. This happens only on my main user account. If I create a new local or Microsoft account, the lock screen works perfectly even after a restart or cold boot. My Windows PC does not appear under Devices on my Microsoft account page, even though the PC is signed in with my Microsoft account locally. I’ve already tried restarting, signing out and back into my Microsoft account, checking sign-in options, and testing Fast Startup on and off. Since everything works fine on newly created accounts, I believe my existing user profile or account state may be corrupted. I’m trying to avoid creating a new profile and manually migrating data if possible. Any guidance on repairing the current user profile, re-linking the device to my Microsoft account, or restoring normal lock screen behavior would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for any help. ~GouravJoiBoiDec 24, 2025Copper Contributor2Views0likes0CommentsGigabyte Aorus GeForce RTX 3090 XtremeGigabyte Aorus GeForce RTX 3090 Xtreme
