What is the best ai photo editor for windows 11 right now?
Hi all,
I've been trying to find a solid AI photo editor for my Windows 11 PC, but there are just too many options out there and I'm not sure what is actually worth using. I mostly want something that can do things like background removal, photo enhancement, and maybe some quick AI edits without spending hours learning complicated tools.
So I'm curious what is the best ai photo editor for windows 11? Looking for something fast, beginner-friendly, and not crazy expensive. Would love to hear real recommendations or what to avoid!

If you are using Windows 11, there are many good AI photo editors available right now. Luminar Neo is a good option if you want easy and quick editing. It has simple tools and works well for beginners. Photoshop is also very powerful, but it can be a little difficult if you are new. It really depends on what you need. For quick edits, go with simple tools. For advanced work, Photoshop is better.

The other suggestions on this thread are all valid but I personally recommend Windows 11's own Photos app for easy to use photo editing tools that are as good or better than some paid for options. The variety of adjustments and filters along with the two AI options for changing or removing backgrounds or objects is incredibly effective for a "free" app. It just works.
The only feature I miss is being able to work with layers.
I normally use the Photos app first to quickly and simply make basic edits or changes but if those aren't good enough I then open the image I'm working on in Affinity Studio (which is now also available free of charge), providing simple or advanced pixel, vector (photo/drawing and layout/design (DTP) facilities in one app.
Another benefit of the Windows 11 Photos app is its seamless integration with both OneDrive and File Explorer "Pictures" folders and optional syncing with iCloud too.

Photopea is a powerful browser-based ai photo editor windows 11 that mimics the interface and features of professional desktop software, offering a full suite of AI-powered editing tools directly accessible through any web browser on your Windows 11 PC.
It allows you to perform complex image editing, create digital art, and optimize images using professional-grade tools, but it contains ads.
First, open any web browser on your Windows 11 computer and visit the official website. The interface will load immediately. Simply click to import files from your computer or cloud storage, and you can start processing your images right away.
To use the AI features: Select your image, then right-click and choose "Select Subject" for automatic background and subject separation. For content removal, use the Content-aware fill tool under the Edit menu. To increase image resolution, go to Edit → Transform → Scale to access the AI upscaling functionality. You can also layer, filter, and adjust your images just like in desktop software, then export your final work as a PNG, JPG, or PSD file.
Once you are satisfied with your edits, simply use the "Export As" button to save the high-quality image back to your Windows 11 device.
It requires no installation and runs entirely online; it’s an AI photo editor Windows 11, but it relies on a stable internet connection and cannot be used offline.
If you don’t want to install heavy desktop software or pay for subscriptions, you can try this method. This is a drastic measure, so you should think it through carefully before committing if you have very large files or slow internet.
