WordPad doc open, and modified (doc#1).
Did not save the modified WordPad doc (doc #1).
Closed that picture folder (folder #1), and opened a new picture folder (folder #2).
Attempted to close the WordPad doc (doc#1).
Received request to "save as".
I reopened orig picture folder (folder #1) and tried to save as.
Received "name too long" error.
Tried to change the now corrupted WordPad doc (doc #1) file name to shorter name; effort failed.
Tried to open the corrupted WordPad doc (doc#1) with Word (no active lease on it); effort failed.
Discovered the corrupted file path looks like this; notice the first 4 characters:
"\\?\C:\Users\Cin\Pictures\..."
I receive this message when attempting to preview the WordPad doc:
"The file you are attempting to preview could harm your computer. If you trust the file and the source you received it from, open it to review its contents."
Here is another corrupted WordPad doc path; again, notice the first 4 characters:
I do not recall the sequence of events that corrupted this file.
"\\?\C:\Users\Cin\Pictures\..."
A healthy file path should look like this:
"C:\Users\Cin\Pictures\..."
