Windows Explorer Sorting View

Brass Contributor

I have sorted the files on my Desktop in Windows Explorer by Date modified. Whenever I click on Desktop to view the files, though, the scroll bar automatically is at the very bottom of the window, so that the oldest files are displayed at the bottom. Is there any way to change the default view so that the scroll bar is at the top of the window and the newest files are displayed instead? I have tried resetting the Folder and search options so the current view is the default, but this doesn't work. Thanks in advance for any help anyone can offer.
