Re: Categories in To Do Android
I have categories called "Priority 1", "Priority 2", etc. I put my tasks into those categories based on importance and move them within a category by importance too. This view works perfectly in Outlook on Windows. But when I go to the To Do app on Android, I can find no way to get the same view. Grouping by Category is a start, and then keeping the same order within the category is required too. What's the point of a mobile app if it doesn't work the same as Windows?112Views2likes0CommentsSince yesterday's update, Outlook no longer pulling new email down to Android phone
I no longer automatically see new email in my Outlook Inbox on my Android phone. I have to manually reload the Outlook page (drag my finger from top to bottom of the screen) for the email to arrive. The emails do show up in Windows Outlook, and everything else still works fine in my Android Outlook (send emails, calendar sync, contacts sync, etc.). But since I got an Outlook update yesterday, and I've not changed any settings, I assume it's new bug? Outlook version: 4.2336.0 (42336808) Android version: 13Solved3.6KViews0likes4CommentsRe: Remove unnecessary "All Apps" button
In case anyone lands here with the same goal: The best solution I've come up with is to turn off "Show apps in Outlook", so I don't get a Ribbon button I can't remove. I then added Mail, Calendar, and Contacts buttons to my Quick Access Toolbar and moved the QAT below the ribbon. I now have three buttons above my left nav pane to jump between the three main views I use. I don't have to go to the bottom of the left nav pane to get that functionality. It sure would be nice though not to give us a Ribbon button we can't remove. Update: Added screenshot.14KViews2likes3CommentsRe: Remove unnecessary "All Apps" button
But in keeping with my experience that Microsoft doesn't test with real users, turning off the button ALSO moves my "Email/Calendar/Contacts" toolbar from the left rail (where I want it) to the bottom (where I don't). Please tell me there's a way to leave the toolbar where it was AND turn off the button?15KViews0likes5CommentsRemove unnecessary "All Apps" button
A new button called "All Apps" showed up on the left side of my Email "Home" tab today. But when I try to "Customize Ribbon..." to remove it, the button does not show up. My ribbon was already full, so this unneeded and completely unnecessary button cause my entire ribbon to re-layout. How can I remove it? See the attached for a screenshot.Solved17KViews5likes14CommentsRe: Cannot remove Add-Ins folder and button from ribbon
Thank you. Sadly my ribbon was already 100% full with the buttons and macros I use regularly, so the addition of this button has caused things to realign so that some button labels are now gone. I truly can't explain Microsoft would add a button that I'll NEVER use, and then give me no way to hide it.1.7KViews0likes0CommentsCannot remove Add-Ins folder and button from ribbon
A folder and button called "Add-Ins" is now in my Excel ribbon and I can't remove it. As you can see in my ribbon below, the submenus are Font, Alignment, Add-Ins, Tools, and Format. But when I customize the ribbon (second picture), there is no Add-Ins folder shown that I can delete! I'm pretty sure this is a very recent issue.1.9KViews0likes4CommentsRe: "New event" ribbon now Big in outlook calendar mobile
I agree completely. No offense, but what a dumb idea. And what's even crazier is that if you slide left or right to another day, the button shrinks by removing the words. Why can't that smaller view be at least the view on the current day too? I honestly can't come up with a good reason why they cover so much of my screen, and why it's the worst on the current day.1KViews0likes0CommentsTaskbar badge when using Teams Chat as an Edge "app"?
I'm part of two Teams teams with different email addresses. I use the full Teams application for the first email, and when I get a new Chat message, a badge shows up on my Windows taskbar on the Teams icon to alert me. For the second email, I created an Edge browser "app" (i.e. Settings / Apps / Install this site as an app), and while it puts a Teams icon on the taskbar, and essentially works like the full Teams application, I never get taskbar badges when new Chats pop up. Because of this, I have to keep opening the window every few minutes to see if anyone's trying to chat. 😞 Is there a way to to get a badge to show? I can confirm that I've got all Windows, Teams, and Edge Notifications turned on as much as possible.1.1KViews0likes0Comments"One click" solution to replace existing SQL Server table with data from new Excel spreadsheet
I have a SQL Server table with data that was initially loaded from an Excel spreadsheet. Once per week going forward, a non-technical member of our team will generate a new version of that spreadsheet, and I need to give him a "one click" solution that will replace the current table data with the data from the new spreadsheet. What's the easiest way to do this? I've got no problems with an SSMS solution, VBA scripting, Power Automate, etc., but I need to make this a one-step procedure for the person doing the replace.696Views0likes0CommentsRe: Open file in desktop app by default
What do you do when you only have two options to set the default to: Teams and Browser? I'm on Windows 10 and have included my Teams version info in the screenshot below. Another developer here has the exact same version, but get to choose the third Desktop App option (which is the one I want).7.4KViews4likes0CommentsCannot repoint "SQL Server Management Studio" directory
When starting SQL Server Management Studio, a directory gets created at "C:\Users\<myuserid>\Documents\SQL Server Management Studio", and I can find no way to point it somewhere else. I initially set "Tools / Options / Projects and Solutions / Locations / Projects location" in SSMS to a new location, thinking that this was the right config value to change. But even after setting it to a new location, a directory still gets created at "C:\Users\<myuserid>\Documents\SQL Server Management Studio". I also searched the Registry and found "Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\SQL Server Management Studio\18.0_IsoShell_Config\DefaultProjectsLocation". Changing that key seemed to work for one SSMS restart, but after starting SSMS a second time, the key got reset by something back to "C:\Users\<myuserid>\Documents\SQL Server Management Studio", and the directory got created there. How do I move "C:\Users\<myuserid>\Documents\SQL Server Management Studio" to a different location?525Views0likes0CommentsDo NOT open new windows in front
My biggest pet peeve with Windows is that I'll click to open an app from my Taskbar, but then try to also finish something in the currently open window as well. Most of the time, the app that was opening finally opens on top of what I'm doing before I'm done, and so my typing ends up in the newly opened app. Is there some way to say "Open all newly opened apps BEHIND the current window"?4.4KViews0likes3Comments
