Site Collections and Managed Metadata Navigation

Discovered I could not share a managed navigation term set between site collections.  Found a workaround using Pin Term with Children.  Default label update in the term source is automatically reflected.  Perfect!  Then I discovered a change to the Simple Link or Header is not reflected which defeats the purpose in that I would have to update each term under every site collection.  Same results with reuse.

Does anyone have a solution?  Please note if it needs to be completed by the SharePoint administrator instead of the Term Store administrator.

Thank you for the speedy response Pieter. 

Forgot to mention that we did not want to makes changes to areas like the style library, templates, or master pages.  But, I shall bookmark this just in case.

Had hopes it would be as simple as I had missed pushing a button in the term store, but suspect it would not be that easy.
