Prevent new item from being created in a list

is it possible to create a permission that won't allow new items to be created in a list but still allow current items to be edited and modified?

Hi @Will735 - yes, you can create a copy of the Contribute level and remove the option to Add New Items.

1. Go into Site Information > Site Settings > Site Permissions > Permission Levels
2. Click on Contribute
3. Scroll to the bottom and select Copy Permission Level
4. Give it an intuitive name
5. Uncheck the option to Add items
6. Click Submit
7. Change your groups permissions to the new level
