Export to Excel

Hello everybody,

We currently have the following situation:

 - Sharepoint Online with Office 365 Pro 

When ever a user tries to use the "Export to Excel function" an error pops up: 

"To export a list, you must have Microsoft Sharepoint Foundation-compatible application"

I know this was an issue in Sharepoint 2010, but it's 2018. What is the solution?

I think it's more of a functionality issue between softwares from the same vendor. Therefor it is only right that they provide a solution.

Ok, well it works, you just don't like the wording. It's been this way for over 13 years or so, so your not going to get it changed now :P. Modern UI works. and that's the future. Switch your stuff to modern, then it won't give you a prompt.

You can always code your own button and export too.
