Syncing Performance Disparity: An Examination of OneDrive and Dropbox

Copper Contributor

I am currently facing challenges with the syncing process, as it is taking an extended period to scan for changes and update files.

Despite having a high-speed internet connection and a powerful computer, the syncing performance remains sluggish.

In comparison, when I attempted to synchronize the same file using Dropbox, the task was completed in under 5 minutes. On the other hand, OneDrive is still scanning for changes and has not yet detected the new file I created.

Hi Jinfiltration,

I am afraid the OneDrive sync client isn't the most stable sync client out there. I always advise my customers to only use the Office Web Apps or Teams Desktop App and avoid the OneDrive sync client if possible.

If you do want to use the OneDrive sync client, please reboot your machine frequently (daily).

Please try my action plan:
- Only use 1 sync solution on the machine: OneDrive or Dropbox, not both

- Disable fast startup
- CMD > sfc /scannow
- CMD > DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /Restorehealth
- Reboot your machine

- Optional: Windows key + R. %localappdata%\Microsoft\OneDrive\onedrive.exe /reset
