I was under the impression that I was saving all of my files locally. I occasionally accidentally save something in OneDrive, and would leave it there, but most things were going into Documents, Pictures, etc. I have a different OneDrive path on my computer that I could see when I saved documents in Word. Today I decided it was annoying to keep accidentally saving in the wrong place, so I deleted OneDrive. There were way too many files for the Recycle Bin, so it was a hard delete. To my shock, all of my folders vanished. It turns out Documents, Videos, etc, were all in OneDrive. The problem is that when I go online and sign into my onedrive, I only see the files that I would occasionally accidentally save there, and those have not been deleteed. The bulk of my files, the ones from my local computer, are not there. I tried resetting to yesterday and it looks exactly the same. Any idea where those files were saved/are now? Are they recoverable or am I epically screwed?1View0likes0CommentsWindows OneDrive folder and file properties
Hello I use Windows 10. All the files in the OneDrive folder has the green checkmark. 1. Are the files with the green checkmark both in a local OneDrive folder and in the OneDrive online cloud? 2. If I "Unlink this PC" - what happens to all the files with the green checkmark? They are kept in the OneDrive online cloud? They are deleted from the local OneDrive folder? 3. If I download a file from OneDrive online browser then the files "Modified" date is being updated - bad. If I copy a file from the OneDrive folder in Windows to another local folder, then the "Modified" date is unchaged - good. I have only tried this on the same computer. But what if there is 2 computers: Computer 1 copy file A to the Windows OneDrive folder. Computer 2 (another computer) copies file A from Windows OneDrive folder to another local folder - is the "Modified" date unchanged or updated? I know the "Created" and "Accessed" dates are being updated / new when copying file A. Thank you162Views0likes5CommentsOneDrive for Business is showing I've used 700BG of space even though I've deleted everything.
OneDrive for Business is showing I've used 700BG of space. However, I have deleted everything from OneDrive and emptied both levels of recycle bin. Even the OneDrive page that shows you the biggest files in OneDrive is empty. And yet OneDrive claims 700GB are in use. I have NO files. Why is OneDrive showing 700GB used space?Solved44Views0likes2CommentsBlock/prevent specific folders from being sync'ed
As OneDrive admins we would like to block/prevent specific folders from being sync'ed (i.e node_modules), using policies. In the roadmap there is this item: https://www.microsoft.com/microsoft-365/roadmap?id=178292 that was supposed to be rolling by now, any information about its status? Thanks43Views0likes0CommentsIs it possible to restore a folder to a previous state?
Is there a way to restore a folder to its previous state? For example its state as at one week ago? I see this is possible for individual files, but not for folders. (Maybe the solution is to delete the folder and then look for a version in the onedrive recycle bin - will this work?)21Views0likes2CommentsChanging to Always Keep... changes all folders
Within a folder on OneDrive, there are other folders and files. I want to have some just on the cloud, and always keep some on my computer. When I click on Always Keep On This Computer, all the other folders at that folder level also change to Always Keep On This Computer. I'm not talking about the contents of the folder (which I'd expect to change), I'm talking about the folders at the same level as the one I change. Also, I have a couple of folders and files that show the white checked status icon in windows explorer (as opposed to the solid green one). The right click list shows a check on those for Always Keep on this computer. Why don't they have the solid green status icon? They don't even change in the situation described above.69Views2likes2CommentsRequest to Update Onedrive Mass File Deletion Prompt
Hello, Onedrive ran out of cloud storage space for this person. It then popped up a prompt to delete several thousand files, with zero background information. Are these files simply older versions of files in the Onedrive cloud? Are they local files on the C drive? This is a pretty loaded question to ask a person without providing any background information. This information would ideally be provided in an accurate summary format, IE: "to free up cloud storage space, Onedrive recommends deleting these older version files, all of which will still have a more recent version remaining in the cloud AFTER the deletion." On a related note, it would be really nice if there were a few automated script actions that could be made available in the online web interface to Onedrive to help people clear up space, like "delete all but the most recent X versions of files within directory OnedriveRoot:/this/is/the/path" Thanks, A frustrated IT support dude8Views0likes0CommentsOnedrive file sync issue
I just recently had an issue where my files were not synced because i had run out of onedrive storage space so i just got rid of a bunch of unnecessary files sitting around which freed up a ton of space. The files still werent synced so i resett one drive to sync them back up but when i did that it just restored the files i had just deleted. I kept trying over and over again but the same kept happening and now i cant sycn my files. Ive tried everything, restarted my computer. Reinstalled onedrive but its all not working and my files and folders wonf sync. What do i do to fix this?148Views1like2CommentsOneDrive wanted me to set up backing up to OneDrive, again
When I logged into my Windows 11 machine here at home, I was presented with a full-window popup from OneDrive. It wanted me to set up backing up my important folders like Documents, Photos, etc. I have been paying for Microsoft 365 Family Edition for at least 10 years, so I've done this already. But I thought I'd go ahead and do it again. But now I'm wondering, might I have accidentally created a second schedule job to back up my Documents, Photos, etc. to OneDrive, duplicating what I've done when I set those things up years ago?24Views0likes0CommentsDate taken option removed!
I’m finding One Drive increasingly frustrating as a photographer as the date taken option has been removed and my files are badly muddled, this option was part of the app for years so why did the developer remove it. Very annoying for professional photo work so bring it back.119Views1like3CommentsSyncing Minecraft Worlds to Onedrive
Hello I am trying to sync my Minecraft "saves" folder to Onedrive. It has all of my Minecraft worlds folders on it. I can upload a copy of it to Onedrive, but I am unsure if the data in the world folders updates automatically as I play in my worlds. Does the data in the world folders update as I play them? How to I sync the "saves" folder to Onedrive (it does not give me the option when I right click. For reference, the saves folder is located at: C:\Users\mixma\AppData\Roaming\.minecraft\saves80Views1like3CommentsLooking for a cloud storage solution
Can anyone recommend an inexpensive cloud storage platform that will allow me to create/access/sync files from multiple computers? I've been using Dropbox, which is great, but it is $12 per month on top of my 365 Personal account costs. Thanks!65Views1like2CommentsOneDrive changes metadata on files
I'll try to make this brief. OneDrive is not accepting/changing the metadata on my images after edit. What happens is this: 1) I create an image file with keywords in DAM 2) OD uploads correctly. 3) I make a change to the file, e.g. keywords 4) OD uploads OK. Then 5) a minute or two later OD redownloads the file without the keyword edit, reverting to previous version. 6) DAM sees the change, and reverts the keywords. And then I'm in a perpetual loop. I have had 2 MS support cases on this, supplied videos, had screen share sessions and on all occasions, the support agents stop responding either by email or by phone. This is a very worrying issue and I see that others have experienced this over the last few years. I have had to remove my Photo library from OD, work on a local drive and rely on backups. Does anyone have any idea how to resolve this?2.2KViews1like4CommentsOneDrive deleted thousands of my files?
I'm hoping somebody here can help me, because I can't find any kind of "Support" link just for OneDrive. Yesterday, for no reason I can determine, OneDrive (personal) deleted a couple thousand old files of mine and put them in the Recycle Bin. I was not using even half of my 1 TB storage, and I did not delete these files myself. They were in various folders. Some had been accessed very recently, some had not been accessed in years. I looked for the files on the app on my phone, on the website, and by trying to find deleted files through apps on my phone (i.e. I looked for a deleted Excel file and it was not found). They were all different file types - Excel, Word, PDF, pictures. I cannot figure out why it did this, and I haven't been able to find any documentation of a known glitch. Has anyone else had this happen?81Views0likes1CommentOneDrive folders no longer have picture previews
ALL folders in OneDrive were just fine until I downloaded all recent Windows 10 updates. Now, the majority of my folders in OneDrive have no picture preview, just a tiny icon instead. The same goes for picture folders outside of OneDrive. Why do so many of my folders look like this? How do I get the previews back?30Views0likes0CommentsOneDrive stuck on "signing in"
Hi, I'm trying to use Onedrive and Onenote, but it seems to be really terrible 50% of the time. Sometimes when I log on my pc, it says I have to log in, and in doing so, is stuck on a "signing in" loop, until it says some error code about me not having an internet connection. Here's what I've tried: 1. Close and open Onedrive 2. Removing auth from the pc and adding it again 3. Reinstalling Onedrive 4. Change Wi-Fi 5. Do a /reset in Windows run AND cmd 6. Update drivers 7. Install the newest Onedrive from the website 8. Try the app-version found in Windows Store What am I supposed to do? I don't want to restart my pc every time it doesn't work, that's a terrible fix.311KViews6likes56CommentsOneDrive for Business sync issues.
