Primary user on self-deploying?

I've been told that if a device is deployed using the Autopilot self-deploying method, then adding a primary user afterwards isn't a Microsoft supported scenario.  Is that right?

For clarity - I'm not asking if it's possible, as I know you can assign a primary user to self-deploying devices from the Intune Portal and using Graph/PowerShell.

This a difficult one and Microsoft is not completely clear about this, in this article it is touched upon by Microsoft:  https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/autopilot/tutorial/self-deploying/self-deploying-workflow

"Windows Autopilot self-deploying mode is designed for kiosk like devices or devices shared by multiple users. For this reason, Windows Autopilot self-deploying mode doesn't support assigning users to the device."

It is indeed not clear if it is recommended or not recommended by Microsoft but it is clear it is not designed for a primary user scenario so I think it's best to stay away from..
